NEW: Retiring Democrat Says Trump ‘Tried To Kill’ Her In Bizarre Exit Interview

The New Atlantis

Retiring U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster (D-NH) claimed that President-elect Donald Trump tried to have her “killed” by objecting to the results of the 2020 Election results in a bizarre exit interview with Capitol Hill news outlet Roll Call.

Kuster, who opted to retire after representing New Hampshire’s Second Congressional District for 12 years, pointed to the January 6 Capitol protests as a major factor in her decision to step aside.

(POLL: Should Pelosi Be Banned From Trading Stocks?)

“I’ve always said I wasn’t going to stay forever. Congress, by being so focused on seniority, tends to cater to a much older population. I think the Democratic caucus can learn from the experience of the Republican caucus that if you have higher turnover, you bring in more people, you’ll be more effective,” she said when asked why she decided to walk away.

“And then there is a part of it related to Donald Trump coming back. I was one of the last members of Congress in the gallery on Jan. 6, and as it turns out, we have the security footage that shows it was only 30 seconds from when I was able to evacuate that the insurrectionists were in that hallway hunting for us with zip ties and bear mace and who knows what else. I just felt like, he tried to kill me once. I’m not available for it again,” she added.

Despite the retiring congresswoman’s incendiary claims, Trump explicitly called on his supporters to “peacefully and patriotically” protest outside the Capitol Building while dozens of Republican representatives and senators were objecting to the results inside. Then-President Trump further called on supporters to refrain from violence after chaos unfolded, saying “we have to go home now.”

“I’m not prepared to be the gladiator, if you will, again for him, with his attack on women and undermining the social fabric. I’ve worked very hard on mental health and addiction treatment and on the environment,” Rep. Kuster added. “I’ve done a lot of work on tackling sexual assault and the whole ‘Me Too’ era of protecting women in the military and in the workplace, and it appears his approach is to tear that all down.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the outgoing congresswoman predicted that Trump’s policies will cause a “swing-back” to the Democrats in 2026 and 2028. “So I’m going to stay involved, but not on the ballot. I’m going to stay involved in the work I’ve done this cycle with the New Democrat Coalition Action Fund and raising resources, along with a group we call Elect Democratic Women — that’s a PAC that I was one of the founders of — and win back the majority,” she said.

WATCH: ESPN Legend Expresses Regret Over Voting For Kamala Harris

The New Atlantis

Legendary sports commentator Stephen A. Smith is expressing regret over voting for Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.

The ESPN host, who has never been shy about his political opinions, was highly critical of the Democratic Party in the lead-up to Election Day. Smith criticized the handling of the Biden Department of Justice’s prosecutions of their political rival and took issue with Harris’ use of big-name celebrities to make her rallies appear larger than they were.

(VOTE: Should JD Vance Run For President In 2028?)

During a recent appearance on Fox News’ “Life, Liberty and Levin,” Smith was asked hypothetically by host Mark Levin whether he would consider changing his vote to President-elect Trump.

“Quite possibly. I’m not going to sit up there and dismiss that anymore. I think we’re beyond that. He would have to prove a lot, Mark. And I’m not talking about policy now,” the longtime “First Take” host answered.

“What concerned me about Donald Trump and the reason I voted against him and voted for Kamala Harris was because I felt that he would be divisive, that he would create chaos because he demands such a level of loyalty and fealty to him. And that would take priority over governing our nation. That was my concern. And so I’m looking for both sides to work across the aisle from one another,” he continued, adding that he agrees with a number of Trump’s positions on the economy and border security.

While conceding that he did ultimately vote Democrat in the last election, the ESPN host stated that he is beginning to wish he didn’t. I voted Democrat, and I got to tell you something right now. I don’t like the fact that I did. I don’t like what I’m seeing,” Smith said.

He went on to say that he is tired of lectures from the Democratic Party about Trump’s rhetoric and how they should vote against something rather than in favor of policies and candidates they prefer.

Nobody’s above the law. But then you go out and you’re pardoning your son, and you try to blame everybody else for it. I don’t want to hear about defund the police. I don’t want to hear about, you know, what there should be open borders. I don’t want to hear this stuff. And I don’t think most of the American people want to hear that.”

Trump Calls On Hockey Legend To Run For Prime Minister Of Canada

The New Atlantis

President-elect Donald Trump is calling on hockey legend Wayne Gretzky to run for Prime Minister of Canada, stating that he would effectively be running for “governor of Canada” in another jab at embattled Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

“I just left Wayne Gretzky, ‘The Great One’ as he is known in Ice Hockey circles. I said, ‘Wayne, why don’t you run for Prime Minister of Canada, soon to be known as the Governor of Canada – You would win easily, you wouldn’t even have to campaign,’ Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.

“He had no interest, but I think the people of Canada should start a DRAFT WAYNE GRETZKY Movement. It would be so much fun to watch!”

While Gretzky has stated that he has no interest in the position, Trump’s post did catch the attention of his wife, Janet, who reposted the president-elect’s post on social media.

Trump’s latest post comes as Trudeau is facing calls to step down from key members of his governing coalition. Earlier this month, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland resigned from Trudeau’s cabinet. Jagmeet Singh — whose New Democratic Party has been crucial to keeping Trudeau’s left-wing government in power —  called on the prime minister to step aside just a few days later.

The main opposition Conservative Party in the country have since called for a new election.

Trump and Trudeau met at the president-elect’s Mar-A-Lago estate last month after Trump threatened to impose steep tariffs on Canadian and Mexican good entering the country if they do not work to curb illegal immigration and the flow of illegal drugs across their respective borders with the United States.

While the U.S. southern border with Mexico receives the majority of media coverage and political action concerning illegal immigration, record numbers of illegal aliens have been entering the country from Canada since President Biden took office in 2021.

Data gathered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) found that record numbers of illegal aliens entered the United States from the northern border between 2023 and 2024, which reached a monthly peak in May.

Trump has continuously poked fun at Canada’s left-wing prime minister in the days and weeks following the meeting, suggesting that he will soon lead an effort to annex Canada. “It was a pleasure to have dinner the other night with Governor Justin Trudeau of the Great State of Canada. I look forward to seeing the Governor again soon so that we may continue our in depth talks on Tariffs and Trade, the results of which will be truly spectacular for all!” the incoming president wrote in a Truth Social post earlier this month.

Ex-Presidential Candidate Announces Bid For DNC Chair thumbnail

Ex-Presidential Candidate Announces Bid For DNC Chair

The New Atlantis

Marianne Williamson, an author and two-time Democratic Party presidential candidate, announced Thursday that she is launching a campaign to become the next chair of the Democratic National Committee.

In a video statement announcing her candidacy, Williamson pointed to the success of President-elect Donald Trump in calling for radical changes in strategy at the DNC. “For those of us who wish to be part of a passionate, fierce, but loyal opposition to what the Republicans are bringing forth in 2025 and beyond, there’s a lot for us to think about. I feel that in order for the Democrats to rise like a phoenix from the ashes of our electoral defeat, we need to look at more than just the outer issues, such as data analysis and field organizing and fundraising. We need to transform,” she said.

(POLL: Should Pelosi Be Banned From Trading Stocks?)

“In a way, we need to reinvent the Democratic Party in order to counter what MAGA is bringing to the table. There’s a collective adrenaline rush in all of that, and we have to create our own massive psychological and emotional appeal for the American people.”

Williamson, who most recently ran for president in 2024, went on to say that she “understands” why Democrats lost in November while painting the picture of a party that is out of touch. “And today I am announcing I’m running for DNC chair because I feel that I can bring a level of expertise to the process of lifting up this possibility of victory over the next two and four years in a way that will not occur if we are only looking traditional means of politicking in order to make that happen. I know how deeply we need to listen to people. I know that we need to hear people. We need to humble ourselves,” she continued.

Williamson is the latest candidate to announce her candidacy to replace outgoing DNC Chair Jaime Harrison. She joins a wide field of candidates that includes former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, Minnesota Democratic Party Chair Ken Martin, Wisconsin Democratic Party Chair Ben Wikler, New York state Sen. James Skoufis and former Maryland Senate candidate Robert Houton.

Gun control activist David Hogg has also expressed interest in a bid, though he has yet to formally announce.

While several candidates have come forward, the debate over the direction of the DNC going forward has been contentious. Harrison has rejected the notion that the party needs to move away from Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) policies and identity politics.

In a racially-focused speech to state Democratic Party chairs in Arizona last month, Harrison urged black democrats and other “people of color” to forcefully push back against the notion that the party should redirect focus from DEI policies. “When I wake up in the morning, when I look in the mirror, when I step out the door, I can’t rub this off,” he said, drawing attention to his own racial identity. “This is who I am. This is how the world perceives me.”

Harrison continued, “That is my identity, and it is not politics. It is my life. And the people that I need in the party, that I need to stand up for me, have to recognize that. You cannot run away from that.”

Elsewhere in his speech, Harrison stated that he plans to air several grievances once he leaves his post, stating that “the muzzle comes off” the day after his replacement is elected on February 1. He further stated that he has no plans to endorse a replacement.

“That’s it for you all,” Harrison said towards the conclusion of his speech. “Because I’m saving the rest for my book. And I am naming names.”

“That’s it for you all,” Harrison said towards the conclusion of his speech. “Because I’m saving the rest for my book. And I am naming names.”

, Marianne Williamson, an author and two-time Democratic Party presidential candidate, announced Thursday that she is launching a campaign to become the next chair of the Democratic National Committee. (POLL: Should Pelosi Be Banned From Trading Stocks?) “In a way, we need to reinvent the Democratic Party in order to counter what MAGA is bringing to the table. There’s a collective adrenaline rush in all of that, and we have to create our own massive psychological and emotional appeal for the American people.” Williamson, who most recently ran for president in 2024, went on to say that she “understands” why Democrats lost in November while painting the picture of a party that is out of touch. This is how the world perceives me.” Harrison continued, “That is my identity, and it is not politics. It is my life. And the people that I need in the party, that I need to stand up for me, have to recognize that. You cannot run away from that.” Elsewhere in his speech, Harrison stated that he plans to air several grievances once he leaves his post, stating that “the muzzle comes off” the day after his replacement is elected on February 1. Brian Stelter Complains After Trump Denies His Request For Access To Bedminster Press Conference thumbnail

Brian Stelter Complains After Trump Denies His Request For Access To Bedminster Press Conference

The New Atlantis

Former CNN host and notorious Trump critic Brian Stelter took to X to complain when he reportedly applied for credentials to the former president’s Bedminister press conference and was denied.

Stelter — whose partisan left-wing opinion show “Reliable Sources” was cancelled by CNN in 2022 — is currently working with Vanity Fair magazine. On Thursday, the vehement Trump hater took to X to complain after his press credentials were denied.

“Yesterday I applied for media credentials for today’s Trump press conference. I used my Condé Nast email address and Vanity Fair special correspondent title. I received an email saying my request was denied,” he wrote.

Stelter’s post was largely met with ridicule. “Were other DNC propagandists and propaganda outlets also denied? Or just you?” asked The Federalist reporter Mollie Hemingway.

Others pointed to the lack of a similar press conference held by Vice President Harris. In 25 days since becoming the de-facto Democratic Party presidential nominee, Harris has yet to give a single interview or hold a press conference.

“Did you get credentialed for Kamala Harris’s press conference? Oh she didn’t have one,” wrote one X user.

Stelter’s denial is perhaps unsurprising given his frequent partisan criticisms of the president and his supporters.

“He seems physically incapable of hiding his jealousy of Kamala Harris,” Stelter said during an appearance on MSNBC just a day before the press conference. “He was even talking about her “Time” Magazine cover and complimenting it and wanting to know who illustrated it. I think Kamala Harris is his kryptonite, and he doesn’t know what to do about it. ”

“Ya know tomorrow he’s holding another press conference, which probably won’t go well for him based on what we’ve seen in the past,” he added.

When Stelter was fired by CNN in 2022, the former president wrote, “Brian Stelter of Fake News CNN got fired because he lied, and lied, and lied – ABOUT ME. May he REST IN PEACE!”

WATCH: Trump Pulls No Punches In Response To Question About ‘Personal Attacks’ On Kamala Harris

The New Atlantis

While taking questions from reporters at his Bedminster golf course in New Jersey on Thursday, former President Donald Trump responded to a question about his “personal attacks” on Kamala Harris by pointing to her own campaign rhetoric.

“I’m very angry at her, that she’s weaponized the justice system against me and other people. Very angry at her. I think I’m entitled to personal attacks,” the former president said. “I don’t have a-lot of respect for her, I don’t have a-lot of respect for her intelligence, and I think she’ll be a terrible president.”

The Republican nominee went on to respond to the Harris Campaign’s lack of messaging, which has hinged on referring to both Trump and J.D. Vance as “weird.”

“And we have this guy that’s running a failed, really a very failed state, who’s had a terrible career. I mean, you have him saying they’re weird. No, he’s a weird guy. And she’s weird in her policy. Who wouldn’t want to have strong borders? Who doesn’t want to have lower taxes?” Trump said in response to Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

He also pointed to Harris’ lack of accomplishments and electoral success. “I don’t think people know who she is yet. When people because really, people didn’t know. You can ask the man on the street. I saw it on one of the shows today. They asked him in his seat. ‘What’s the last name of Kamala?’ Nobody knew.”

Elsewhere in the press conference, Trump asked how Harris can be promising to do things “on day one” when she is already in office.

“So she is saying when she gets in — she’s in now. And especially with Biden, because I mean, he’s not in the best of shape. But you know what? She’s in there now. She can do anything she wants. And she’s still saying, ‘if you elect me, I’ll do this, I’ll do…’ Why didn’t she do it?” the former president said.

“Here’s my one question, it’s the easiest question, because she complains about everything, everything, everything. Why didn’t she do it? That’s all I ask.”

Trump Reacts To Kamala’s Price Control Plan: ‘Straight Out Of Venezuela Or The Soviet Union’

The New Atlantis

During a lengthy press conference at the Trump Bedminster golf course on Thursday, former President Donald Trump referred to Kamala Harris’ plan to institute fixed-pricing on grocery chains and suppliers as “the Maduro plan.”

After weeks of refusal to release specific policy goals, the Kamala Harris Campaign finally released one on Wednesday with a plan to crack down on “corporate price gouging.” The Biden-Harris Administration have repeatedly blamed America’s inflation woes — which has routinely been named as a top concern among voters — on what they deem to be price gouging.

In addition to her push for the first-ever federal ban on price gouging by food corporations, she would also direct the Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general to investigate and levy penalties on food companies that violate the federal ban, a Harris Campaign spokesperson said.

Critics, including former President Trump, have compared the plan to those implemented by Communist-run planned economies in the Soviet Union or Venezuela, which led to massive shortages, rationing, and famines.

On Wednesday, former President Trump invited reporters to his Bedminster golf course for his second press conference in as many weeks. The Trump Campaign has repeatedly attacked Harris for refusing to sit for a set-down interview or hold a press conference, something she has refused to do for going on 25 days.

The Republican nominee centered the press conference on inflation and other rising costs that have consistently polled as a top issue for voters. “Grocery prices have skyrocketed. Cereals are up 26 percent. Bread is up 24 percent. Butter is up 37 percent. Baby formula is up 30 percent. Flour is up 38 percent. And eggs are up 46 percent. And many items are up at much higher rates than that,” Trump said while speaking in front of a selection of common household products.

“Now, Kamala is reportedly proposing communist price controls. She wants price controls. And if they worked, I’d go along with it too. But they don’t work. They actually have the exact opposite impact and effect. But it leads to food shortages, rationing, hunger, dramatically more inflation. Their Inflation Reduction Act, by the way, was a disaster. It’s what caused the inflation. Their Inflation Reduction Act was a con job,” the former president continued.

“I said, that’s going to cause tremendous inflation, and it did, among other things, like energy. She’s running on the Maduro plan. We call it the Maduro plan, like something straight out of Venezuela or the Soviet Union.”
