BREAKING: Trump Campaign Files FEC Complaint Against Biden & Harris

The New Atlantis

The Trump Campaign filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission against President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday accusing them of violating campaign finance laws by transferring Biden’s campaign funds to the Harris Campaign.

“Kamala Harris is seeking to perpetrate a $91.5 million dollar heist of Joe Biden’s leftover campaign cash — a brazen money grab that would constitute the single largest excessive contribution and biggest violation in the history of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, as amended,” David Warrington, the Trump campaign’s general counsel wrote in the complaint, according to a report from the New York Times.

The complaint further accuses Biden and Harris of “flagrantly violating the Act by making and receiving an excessive contribution of nearly one hundred million dollars, and for filing fraudulent forms with the Commission purporting to repurpose one candidate’s principal campaign committee for the use of another candidate.”

(FREE RED HAT: “Impeached. Arrested. Convicted. Shot. Still Standing”)

“To date, Biden for President has provided no indication that it will return or redesignate all of its general election contributions. Thus, each and every general election contribution received by Biden for President is an excessive contribution,” the complaint continued. In short, the Trump Campaign is arguing that Biden cannot keep campaign funds donated to his re-election victory if he is no longer a general election candidate.

Trump’s legal team is asking the FEC for a prompt and speedy response, arguing that Harris is “in the process of committing the largest campaign finance violation in American history and she is using the Commission’s own forms to do it.”

A Biden Campaign spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Times, while the FEC stated that it cannot comment on any ongoing investigations.

While Harris will not officially receive the Democratic Party nomination for president until next month’s convention, she has already received endorsements from a number of key Democrat leaders, including President Biden, California Governor Gavin Newsom, and Democrat congressional leaders. A number of state delegates have also pledged to support Harris at the Chicago convention.

NEW: Kamala Harris Campaign Shuts Down Rumors Surrounding VP Candidate

The New Atlantis

Vice President Harris has formally initiated the vetting process for potential running mates, as the campaign has reportedly sent vetting materials to a number of candidates. One candidate — a governor of a red state who was initially thought to be on the vice president’s list — has notably not received any vetting paperwork.

The Harris campaign has sent vetting materials to Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ), according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.

Notably absent from the list was Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, who recently cruised to re-election in an overwhelmingly pro-Trump state. Beshear is also one of the few candidates who have expressed interest in serving as Harris’ running mate.

(BREAKING: Your Bank Account Is About To Be Cut In HALF)

“The only reason I’d ever consider something else is if I felt that I could help my people in Kentucky more in a different role or that there was a chance to move past the partisanship, the constant fighting,” Beshear said when asked about the role by CNN’s Kaitlan Collins.

Beshear also noted that he had not yet received any vetting materials from the campaign, however, stating that he has “not been personally asked to submit information at this point.”

Other candidates on the list have offered Harris their endorsements, though they have also stopped short of saying they would be willing to accept the role.

“I couldn’t be more confident that Vice President @KamalaHarrisis the right person to defeat Donald Trump and lead our country into the future,” Kelly said in a post on X. “She has my support for the nomination, and Gabby and I will do everything we can to elect her President of the United States.”

“I love being the governor of the state of Illinois, and I’ve been out on the campaign trail fighting hard for Democrats to win,” Pritzker told MSNBC when asked about his interest in the job. Cooper offered a similar answer, telling the outlet that the focus should remain on Harris this week when asked the same question.

“Our conversation was all about how we beat Donald Trump and protect our freedoms here in this commonwealth,” Shapiro told NBC when asked about his conversations with Harris,

Whitmer has provided the most forceful decline to date when asked about serving as Harris’ running mate. “I’m not leaving Michigan,” she wrote in an X post. “I’m proud to be the governor of Michigan. I have been consistent. I know everyone is always suspicious and asking this question over and over again – I know you’re doing your job – I’m not going anywhere.”

Walz, like Beshear, has been one of the few candidates to express interest in the role. “She mentioned she would need my help. And I said she has it in any way that she sees fit,” Walz said in an interview with Minnesota Now. “If that’s the direction she goes, I guess that’s fine.”

Bongino Shares New Details On ‘Small Explosion’ That Caused Chaos During Trump Shooting

The New Atlantis

Top rated conservative pundit and 12-year Secret Service veteran Dan Bongino is reporting that a “small explosion” caused confusion during the July 13 assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

The Secret Service veteran began by pointing out that a piece of farming equipment was hit by a bullet during the incident, causing hydraulic fluid to spray out partially onto the presidential motorcade. Footage from the scene shows the moment the farm equipment was struck.

Apparently what happened after that is hydraulic fluid from that specific vehicle, given that the line was penetrated, covered a couple of vehicles and the motorcade, causing a little bit of initial chaos,” Bongino reported.

(FREE RED HAT: “Impeached. Arrested. Convicted. Shot. Still Standing”)

It is unclear whether the equipment was struck by a bullet fired by would-be Trump assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was neutralized by a Secret Service counter sniper in what has been described as a “one-in-a-million’ shot.

Previous reports have confirmed that three weapons were fired during the assassination attempt. In addition to shots from Crooks and a Secret Service counter sniper unit, an additional shot was fired by a state law enforcement sniper team, which missed the gunman.

Bongino previously reported that the sniper who took down Crooks was not the sniper who has been seen in videos shared around the world. The sniper who took the shot was located roughly 400 yards behind.

On Tuesday — citing a trusted source in the Secret Service — Bongino reported that a “small explosion” took place during the shooting. “Now to be clear, there’s some confusion about what it was. Was there some fireworks at the scene? Was there something the assassin had brought with them that the hydraulic fluid, or something one of the shots had set off? Did he set it off? But the explosion is what led to the confusion about where they should go and where they still under attack,” the Secret Service veteran revealed.

Combined with the fact that the hydraulic fluid had coated some of the motorcade vehicles, they had a little bit of an issue getting out of there. These are relevant facts.”

In the days following the assassination attempt on the former president, Bongino was the first to report that a state law enforcement sniper team was supposed to be located on top of the AGR building from which Crooks fired from.

It was initially reported that Crooks had purchased a ladder in order to climb onto the roof, though investigators now believe that he climbed an air-conditioning unit to gain roof access. The gunman is also believed to have hidden his AR-15 rifle — which belonged to his father — behind the AC unit.

Instead of being on the roof, law enforcement personnel were instead placed inside the AGR building. Crooks managed to climb onto the roof — located roughly 130 yards away from the former president’s podium — with the teams inside the building.

Security personnel did take notice of Crooks roughly an hour before the shooting, as he was seen lurking around the grounds. One officer snapped a picture of him before he slinked away before eventually returning.

The New Atlantis
Secret Service snapped a photo of Crooks as he lurked around the rally grounds. He was seen as a “person of interest.”

Once Crooks returned, he was not seen as an elevated threat until he climbed onto the roof. He was noticed by bystanders, who attempted to alert law enforcement that there was a man with a gun on the roof.

One local law enforcement officer — who had been assigned to a traffic detail — was hoisted onto the roof by a colleague in order to investigate. Upon being confronted, the gunman turned and pointed his weapon at the officer, forcing him to retreat. He then radioed in that he had confronted the gunman over a radio channel that was not synced in with the Secret Service.

I want to add the Secret Service is now in a PR fight because they’re afraid to throw the locals under the bus. The locals don’t want to get in a fight publicly with the Secret Service. I’m just giving you a… I’m not placing the blame on one or the other folks,” Bongino said Tuesday. “It was a security failure and both sides clearly have some skin in the game here. I’m just giving you the facts.”

WATCH: MLB Players Debut Trump-Themed ‘Fight’ Celebrations

The New Atlantis

Several MLB players debuted new Trump-themed celebrations over this weekend’s slate of games.

In one instance, the St. Louis cardinals dugout could be seen placing their hands over their right ear while making a fist with their left. This was seemingly done in reference to former President Trump’s reaction to being shot at a Pennsylvania rally last week, when he raised his fist in defiance and chanted “fight, fight, fight!”

Cardinals outfielder Alec Burelson then turned to the dugout and replicated the celebration while making a home run trot for his 18th bomb of the season.

The Cardinals were not the only team to display a Trump-themed celebration on Sunday. After roping a double to right-field, Rays infielder Taylor Walls pumped his fist in the air while chanting “fight, fight, fight!”

Athletes from across the world of sports have praised and paid tribute to former President Trump in the days following the attempt on his life.

“It was a long night [because of the assassination attempt] and that’s all we watched the entire time on the way over here,” golf legend Tiger Woods said before teeing off in the Open Championship earlier this week. “I didn’t sleep at all on the flight, and then we just got on the golf course.”

UFC President Dana White, who, like Woods, is a close friend of the former president, referred to him as an “American bada**” in an interview with Pat McAfee.

“And let me tell you what, everybody wants to act like a tough guy right everybody wants to act like a tough guy well when the sh** goes down you find out who tough guys are and who tough guys are not,” the UFC president said. “This guy is the legitimate ultimate American badass of all time.”

Trump also received a shoutout from UFC up-and-comer Evan Elder just moments after the attempt on his life on July 13.

“Hey, I heard they just tried to whack my boy Trump. I’m glad that man’s okay. Long live Trump! Let’s go baby Trump 2024!” Elder yelled, drawing a thunderous applause from the Denver crowd.

It is unclear whether former President Trumps intends on making an appearance at another UFC event before November. He generally shows up at U.S.-based pay-per-view events and sits in the front row.

The next pay-per-view event scheduled for the United States is UFC 306, which is set to take place on September 14 in Las Vegas. It will be the first sporting event to take place inside the Las Vegas Sphere.

It will be the first sporting event to take place inside the Las Vegas Sphere.

, Several MLB players debuted new Trump-themed celebrations over this weekend’s slate of games. In one instance, the St. Louis cardinals dugout could be seen placing their hands over their right ear while making a fist with their left. This was seemingly done in reference to former President Trump’s reaction to being shot at a Pennsylvania rally last week, when he raised his fist in defiance and chanted “fight, fight, fight!” Cardinals outfielder Alec Burelson then turned to the dugout and replicated the celebration while making a home run trot for his 18th bomb of the season. JUST IN: List Of Potential Harris VP Picks Has Been Revealed

The New Atlantis

Vice President Kamala Harris is already looking at a list of potential running mate’s of her own if she does indeed secure the Democratic Party nomination for president at the party’s convention next month.

CNN’s Jamie Gangel reported that President Biden’s decision to step aside came as a surprise to Harris. The president had been adamant both publicly, and reportedly privately that he intended to stay in the race as late as Friday night. The president reportedly “changed his mind” on Saturday, however.

“And the first thing I’m told that they’re looking at is logistics. They have a campaign to put together. She has to see, as Phil was talking about earlier, whether anyone’s going to challenge her,” Gangel reported.

“The other thing is simply, you know, how does she get her name on the ballot? Yes, she is part of this infrastructure with the campaign and the convention, but this is a whole new game.”

(YOURS FREE: Trump 2024 “Still Standing” Flag With Iconic New Imagery)

Gangel, citing multiple sources close to the vice president, further reported that Harris is reviewing a list of potential running mates in order to consolidate support around her candidacy and generate excitement. One name on the list is Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ), “who I am told she likes a-lot,” Gangel said. Kelly, as well as his wife, former congresswoman Gabby Giffords, have already endorsed Harris’ candidacy.

Other candidates include Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, and North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper. “There are clearly others, but those four names are the names I keep hearing about,” the CNN reporter added.

Harris has received a number of endorsements in the hours following President Biden’s unprecedented decision, which comes just five months before the general election and after he was already selected by Democratic primary voters. Bill and Hillary Clinton, Alex Soros and President Biden himself are among key names who have endorsed Harris as of Sunday afternoon.

Other key Democrat leaders opted not to endorse Harris in statements praising President Biden, including California Governor Gavin Newsom, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).

Former President Barack Obama also failed to mention Vice President Harris in a lengthy statement. “We will be navigating uncharted waters in the days ahead. But I have extraordinary confidence that the leaders of our party will be able to create a process from which an outstanding nominee emerges,” the former president wrote. “I believe that Joe Biden’s vision of a generous, prosperous, and united America that provides opportunity for everyone will be on full display at the Democratic Convention in August. And I expect that every single one of us are prepared to carry that message of hope and progress forward into November and beyond.”

Democrats will likely have no choice but to stick with Harris if they want to be able to access the Biden-Harris campaign war chest. As of 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Sunday, the Biden presidential committee had changed its name to “Harris for President.”

Biden Campaign leaders have also been working to reassure staff that they will still be employed with the goal of electing Harris.

President Biden has yet to make a public statement on his decision, though he has stated that he will be addressing the nation later this week.

Obama, Other Top Democrats Opt Not To Endorse VP Harris After Biden Steps Aside

The New Atlantis

While Vice President Kamala Harris has received a number of key endorsements after President Biden announced he will not be seeking re-election, other top Democrats have yet to do so.

In perhaps the most notable example, former President Barack Obama made no mention of Harris in his statement on Biden’s decision. “Joe Biden has been one of America’s most consequential presidents, as well as a dear friend and partner to me. Today, we’ve also been reminded — again — that he’s a patriot of the highest order,” the former president wrote in a joint statement released by he and his wife, Michelle.

While Obama touched on a number of topics in the lengthy, eight-paragraph statement, he did not join Biden in endorsing Vice President Harris. “We will be navigating uncharted waters in the days ahead. But I have extraordinary confidence that the leaders of our party will be able to create a process from which an outstanding nominee emerges,” the statement went on to say. “I believe that Joe Biden’s vision of a generous, prosperous, and united America that provides opportunity for everyone will be on full display at the Democratic Convention in August. And I expect that every single one of us are prepared to carry that message of hope and progress forward into November and beyond.”

“For now, Michelle and I just want to express our love and gratitude to Joe and Jill for leading us so ably and courageously during these perilous times — and for their commitment to the ideals of freedom and equality that this country was founded on,” the statement concluded.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) also opted not to endorse Harris in a brief statement thanking Biden for stepping aside and giving Democrats an opportunity to defeat the “insurrectionist-in-chief.” Other left-wing leaders who opted not to immediately endorse Harris include Bernie Sanders and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker.

Harris has received a number of endorsements herself, however. The Clinton family, Alex Soros and President Biden are among those who have thrown their weight behind Harris in the wake of the unprecedented decision.

As we head towards our convention in Chicago in August, I think the most important thing we can do is come together. And Vice President Harris has an incredible legacy of success and accomplishment as a senator and vice president,” said Senator Chris Coons (D-CT). “I do not expect a serious challenge to her nomination, but let’s let that work itself out in the coming weeks.”

Pro-Trump political action committee MAGA Inc. released its first attack ad focusing on Vice President Kamala Harris after President Biden announced that he will not be seeking re-election and endorsed his vice president.

“Kamala was in on it,” a narrator begins over a clip of Harris clapping for Biden’s State of the Union address. “She covered up Joe’s obvious mental decline.”

The ad links to a statement from Vice President Harris made in the aftermath of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report, which described significant evidence of the president’s mental decline. “The way that the president’s demeanor in that report was characterized could not be more wrong on the facts, and clearly politically motivated, gratuitous,” Harris said of the report.

(FREE RED HAT: “Impeached. Arrested. Convicted. Shot. Still Standing”)

The ad then features another quote of Harris saying “our president is in good shape, in good health” over images of the president falling down on stage.

It then ties the vice president to President Biden’s record — which includes sky-high inflation and record-breaking illegal immigration numbers — with quotes from Harris.

“But Kamala knew Joe couldn’t do the job, so she did it. Look what she got done; a border invasion, runaway inflation, the American dream, dead,” the narrator continues. “They know Kamala owns this failed record.”

Harris has long been viewed as the top choice to replace Biden given the fact that she is the only one who can utilize the campaign’s war chest due to campaign finance laws.

It is not guaranteed that Harris will appear atop the Democratic ticket come November, however, as the party could still opt for an open convention. It remains to be seen how feasible this would be, as the party is already working on short time with just five months to go before election day.

Independent reporter Mark Halperin reported Friday that Harris is considering governors Andy Beshear of Kentucky and Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, both of whom are seen as moderates. Other candidates include Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Former President Trump has expressed confidence in his campaign’s ability to defeat “Laughin’ Kamala” in the past.  “I think she’s gonna be better. She’s so bad, she’s so pathetic,” the Republican nominee said in a candid gold course video last month. “She’s so fu***ng bad.”

Former President Donald Trump reacted to President Biden’s decision to drop out of the presidential race in a Truth Social post on Sunday.

“Crooked Joe Biden was not fit to run for President, and is certainly not fit to serve – And never was! He only attained the position of President by lies, Fake News, and not leaving his Basement,” the former president wrote.

“All those around him, including his Doctor and the Media, knew that he wasn’t capable of being President, and he wasn’t – And now, look what he’s done to our Country, with millions of people coming across our Border, totally unchecked and unvetted, many from prisons, mental institutions, and record numbers of terrorists. In a statement released Sunday, President Biden announced that he will not be seeking re-election in the fall. He immediately endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris and stated that he plans to continue serving throughout the last five months of his presidency.

“For now, let me express my deepest gratitude to all those who have worked so hard to see me re-elected. I want to thank Vice President Kamala Harris for being an extraordinary partner in all this work,” the president wrote. “And let me express my heartfelt appreciation to the American people for the faith and trust you have placed in me.”

Trump has previously expressed confidence in his campaign’s ability to defeat Vice President Kamala in November. In the weeks following President Biden’s disastrous debate performance, Trump has been referring to the new Democratic nominee as “laughin’ Kamala.”

“I call her laughin’ Kamala. Have you ever heard he laugh? She’s crazy,” Trump told supporters at a rally in Michigan on Saturday. “You know, you can tell a lot by her laugh. No, she’s crazy. She’s nuts.”

Several national pollsters have prepared for the possibility of Biden stepping aside, leading to plenty of polling data for a hypothetical Harris-led ticket. The results have not been great, something that may have been expected given Harris’ low favorability numbers. According to the latest data from FiveThirtyEight, just 38 percent of American voters approve of the vice president’s job performance while 50 percent disapprove.

BREAKING: Biden Officially Drops Out Of Presidential Race

The New Atlantis

Moments ago, President Joe Biden announced that he is dropping out of the 2024 Presidential race in a letter released on X.

“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.”

The New Atlantis

The president added that he has plans to address the nation later this week.

It is unclear how the Democratic Party will proceed from here. While President Biden did not initially endorse Vice President Harris, he soon did so in a follow-up post. Democrats needed to keep Harris as the nominee if the party wishes to take advantage of the Biden campaign war chest and staff.

In the weeks following Biden’s disastrous debate performance, a number of conflicting reports from Democratic insiders had been released as to a potential replacement.

On Thursday, independent reporter Mark Halperin reported that Biden would be stepping down as early as Sunday, which proved to be correct.

“He also will not, I’m told, endorse Vice President Harris as his successor. They’re hoping that he will endorse an open process in which the convention will be open to Vice President Harris and a few other candidates in Chicago to pick the Democratic nominee for president,” Halperin added. The sources suggested that Harris is already considering potential running mates, including Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.

Other candidates include Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, California Governor Gavin Newsom and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker. Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has also been mentioned as a potential name in the mix.

No matter which direction the party ends up going, Democrats will now be scrambling to put together a winning presidential campaign just weeks out from the November election. A candidate not named Kamala Harris would have likely struggled with national name recognition, while a messy convention process could further limit the party’s seemingly limited window for success.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) stated that Democrats will have trouble getting their candidate on the ballot in a number of states and hinted that Republicans may support legal challenges. “I mean, every state has their own election system, that’s our constitutional system, that’s the way it’s done. And in some of these states it’s a real hurdle, they have a real problem of replacing the nominee at the top of the ticket,” the House speaker told CNN on Sunday.

Johnson went on to note that Biden was selected by Democratic voters to be their nominee through a months-long primary process. “It will be very interesting to see if the so-called party of democracy, the Democrats, go into a back room somewhere and switch it out and put someone else at the top of the ticket,” he said.

Democrats will have to contend with Harris’ unpopularity as well. According to latest polling data from FiveThirtyEight, just 38 percent of American voters have a positive view of the vice president.

Speaker Johnson Hints At Legal Challenges If Democrats Replace Biden At Last Minute

The New Atlantis

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) suggested that House Republicans will support legal challenges if the Democrats attempt to ignore primary voters and replace President Biden on the presidential election ticket at the last minute.

Democrats are looking into potential legal hurdles to replacing their nominee so late in the process. Do you think that whoever emerges from the Democratic Convention as that party’s nominee for president and vice president, do you think those people should be on the ballot in all 50 states? Or would you support efforts to sue to keep those nominees off state ballots assuming it’s not President Biden or Vice President Harris?” asked CNN host Jake Tapper.

(FREE T-SHIRT: Trump “STILL STANDING” – Get Yours Today)

“Look, I’m a former litigator, you know a constitutional attorney. I’d just made note in some uh… comments of the last week that they have real problems,” Speaker Johnson replied.

“I mean, every state has their own election system, that’s our constitutional system, that’s the way it’s done. And in some of these states it’s a real hurdle, they have a real problem of replacing the nominee at the top of the ticket.”

I mean, I think they’ve got I think they’ve got legal hurdles in some of these states, and it’ll be litigated, I would expect, on the ground there, and they’ll have to sort through that.”

Tapper followed up by asking about Democrat efforts to remove President Trump from the ballot in Colorado and Maine, which were struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court.

I mean, the comparison between the two last cycle and this one is apples to oranges. What they’re trying to do, a handful of people in the party, including some of the top elected Democrats in the country, are trying to push Joe Biden out,” Johnson said.

“You know it’s an interesting question Jake. If he’s incapable of running for president, how is capable of governing right now? I mean there is five months left in this administration. It’s a real concern, and it’s a danger to the country because on the world stage, our adversaries see exactly what all of us see, and that’s a problem.”

A number of Democratic lawmakers, consultants and donors have called on President Biden to step aside following his disastrous debate performance against former President Donald Trump.

On Sunday, Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) became the fifth Senate Democrat to call for President Biden’s removal. “I think that we have a lot of talent on the bench, a lot of good people,” Manchin told CNN, adding that his top picks would be Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.

Manchin joined Senators Welch (D-VT), Heinrich (D-NM), and vulnerable colleagues up for re-election in November in Senators Tester (D-MT) and Brown (D-OH). Manchin has already announced that he will not be seeking re-election.

A number of House Democrats have also called on Biden to step aside.

Despite growing pressure, President Biden has been adamant that he will remain in the race and is looking forward to returning to the campaign trail next week.
