Watchdog group launching ‘Hate Map’ to track ‘political violence perpetrated by leftist organizations’

EXCLUSIVE: A new conservative watchdog group is launching an interactive map that tracks instances of political violence “perpetrated by leftist organizations” in the U.S., it claims.

New Tolerance Campaign (NTC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, announced the launch of its “Hate Map,” an interactive system that will allow users to track instances of political bias through an “unbiased, detailed account of incidents, ensuring a more balanced and thorough perspective.”

“There are organizations and individuals across the country on the left today who are promoting, inspiring and, in some cases, directly engaging in physical violence against those with whom they disagree,” Gregory T. Angelo, president of New Tolerance Campaign, told Fox News Digital in an interview.

NTC created a catalog of left-leaning groups with a history of events that turned violent, such as protests, vandalism, physical assaults, threats and intimidation.

HARRIS’ BACKING OF BAIL FUND DURING GEORGE FLOYD PROTESTS DAMPENS TRUMP ‘PROSECUTOR’ CAMPAIGN PITCH

Angelo specifically called out the Southern Poverty Law Center, a nonprofit they say “has become something of a partisan cudgel.”

HOUSE REPUBLICANS REPLACE AMERICAN FLAGS AT UNION STATION AFTER ANTI-ISRAEL PROTESTS

“Whether it’s corporate boardrooms that have been infected by the woke mind virus, whether it is colleges and universities that continue on an ever leftward drift, or activist nonprofits like the ACLU and the Southern Poverty Law Center, who have basically just started carrying water for America’s progressive left, the institutions have been taken over by leftist forces going back decades,” Angelo said.

The NTC president said some examples of recent violent incidents include the 2012 shooting at the Family Research Council, the 2017 shooting at a Republican practice session for the Congressional Baseball Game, and the attempted assassination of former President Trump this month.

“These were not isolated events. They’re part of a larger pattern of hate and violence promoted by the left,” Angelo said.

“We are going to continue to catalog hate and the promotion of violence on the left,” he said. “Sadly, I don’t think that that number is going to be going down anytime soon. If anything, it’s going to be going up, and we will be here as a resource for members of the media, for elected officials, for everyday Americans and people in academia to use this in their research when it comes to calling out hate across the country.”

NTC said the map will consist of a wide range of coverage, be updated regularly and be a user-friendly interface, according to a press release obtained by Fox.

Efforts to reach the Southern Poverty Law Center for comment were unsuccessful at press time.

Emhoff hobnobs on Nantucket while fishermen reel from wind turbine ‘disaster’

A New England fishermen’s association is calling attention to second gentleman Doug Emhoff’s fundraising trip to Nantucket as the Massachusetts island wades through the aftermath of a wind turbine disaster.

Emhoff stepped in to headline fundraisers this week originally set for first lady Jill Biden before President Biden dropped out of the presidential race just over a week ago and endorsed Vice President Harris.

One such fundraiser took place Tuesday on the island roughly 30 miles off the Massachusetts mainland. Emhoff was a special guest at “an island reception hosted by Laura DeBonis, a business and nonprofit technical consultant who previously worked for Google, and Ken Jarin, partner in a Washington, D.C., law firm, at an unspecified location on the island,” a local outlet reported.

His visit comes two weeks after an offshore wind turbine blade the length of a football field snapped off into the ocean, which sent shards of fiberglass ashore, temporarily closing six of the island’s beaches and creating an ongoing safety hazard for fishermen.

‘RUINED BY NEGLIGENCE’: DAVE PORTNOY BLASTS NANTUCKET WIND FARM AFTER BROKEN BLADE SHUTS DOWN BEACHES

“The Vineyard Wind blade disaster has confirmed fishermen’s worst fears about offshore wind. Massive fiberglass shards remain a huge navigational hazard for our members,” Jerry Leeman, CEO of the New England Fishermen’s Stewardship Association, told Fox News Digital.

We remain gravely concerned that micro-particles from fiberglass debris could poison local marine life. Worse still, we are still awaiting answers from the developer.”

SUPREME COURT SIDES WITH FISHERMEN IN LANDMARK CASE DECIDING FATE OF ADMINISTRATIVE STATE

“We hope Mr. Emhoff learns about the effects this disaster has brought to coastal communities during his visit to Nantucket,” he said.

Vineyard Wind is a joint venture between foreign entities Avangrid and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, which built wind farms off the coast of Massachusetts. The company is a beneficiary of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), the signature domestic policy achievement of the Biden-Harris administration.

In October, Vineyard Wind boasted of a $1.2 billion “first-of-its-kind tax equity package” for commercial scale offshore wind with three U.S.-based banks, calling it “the largest single asset tax equity financing and the first for a commercial scale offshore wind project.”

Rep. Bill Keating, D-Mass., praised the announcement at the time, tying it directly to the “impact” of the IRA.

LOCAL FISHERMEN SLAM BIDEN ADMINISTRATION’S NEWLY UNVEILED PLANS TO INDUSTRIALIZE GULF OF MAINE

Vineyard Wind 1 began on-site construction in late 2021 and completed the nation’s first offshore substation in July 2023. It is an 800 MW project located 15 miles off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard and is the first commercial scale offshore wind project in the United States.

When the blade fell last month, Leeman said, “the scariest thing” about it is that “it could happen again.”

“As a fisherman, I know how powerful and volatile the North Atlantic is. If this blade fell off on a beautiful summer day, what would happen during a winter squall or a hurricane?” he told Fox News Digital.

The Harris campaign and the White House did not immediately return Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Republican wins primary for Ruben Gallego’s House seat but remains long shot in November

Pro-Trump GOP candidate Jeff Zink won Tuesday’s primary in Arizona’s deep-blue 3rd Congressional District.

Zink defeated 29-year-old Jesús David Mendoza, a software engineer and political newcomer who ran as the more moderate Republican in the race.

CRUCIAL SOUTHWESTERN BATTLEGROUND HOLDS SENATE, HOUSE PRIMARIES TODAY

Zink, who unsuccessfully ran for the seat in 2022, previously made headlines for being one of the thousands of people who attended former President Trump’s Jan. 6, 2021 “Stop The Steal” rally, which was followed by a riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Despite the victory, he’s still a long shot candidate to win Arizona’s most heavily-Democratic congressional district.

The area is majority Latino and Hispanic, encompassing significant portions of Phoenix.

HAVE BATTLEGROUNDS SHIFTED WITH HARRIS AT TOP OF TICKET?

The nonpartisan Cook Political Report ranks it D+24, making it the most left-wing congressional district in Arizona.

It’s being vacated at the end of this year by Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., who is running for Senate against Republican candidate Kari Lake in November.

ARIZONA SENATE CANDIDATE SAYS MARK KELLY WOULD GIVE HARRIS ‘JOLT’ AS VP

Gallego represented the district from the beginning of 2023, having previously held Arizona’s 7th Congressional District from 2015.

The progressive military veteran is expected to be formally named the Democratic candidate to succeed Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, I-Ariz., who is not seeking re-election.

Kari Lake wins GOP nod, setting up general election battle with Gallego for Sinema’s seat

Kari Lake won the Republican Senate primary in Arizona on Tuesday evening, setting up a heated race against Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., in November for the open seat being vacated by Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, I-Ariz.

Lake defeated Pinal County, Arizona Sheriff Mark Lamb for the nomination.

Gallego won his bid for the Democratic nomination to the Senate as well, officially securing the party’s nod to succeed Sinema.

Lake initially ran for governor of the state in 2022 but was defeated by now-Gov. Katie Hobbs, D-Ariz. Prior to her gubernatorial run, Lake was a news anchor for a local Arizona television station and had been working in the media for 27 years.

GOP, DEM SENATORS UNITE TO CONDEMN ‘HORRIFYING’ TRUMP ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT

Lake challenged the results following her gubernatorial election loss. She still contends that there were significant irregularities in 2020 and 2022, echoing claims that former President Trump and a great number of his supporters have made about the elections. The concern has led to the Republican National Committee (RNC) devoting significant time and money to election integrity efforts.

SCHUMER WON’T COMMIT TO SENATE VOTES FOR BIDEN’S LONG-SHOT RADICAL SCOTUS OVERHAUL

Lamb has been sheriff in Pinal County since being elected in 2017. He rose to prominence in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he refused to enforce a stay-at-home order from Republican then-Gov. Doug Ducey.

“It’s unfortunate that we’re here, but I need to make a stand for the people and for freedom,” he said at the time, according to the Associated Press. “I don’t want to cite, fine or arrest fine people.”

TRUMP ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT: NEW TEXTS SHOW LOCAL POLICE SCRAMBLE TO ASSIST WITH COVERING RALLY

Consequences for violating the Arizona pandemic-era order included fines of $2,500 and up to six months of jail time.

Lake had an advantage in the Senate competition with significant name recognition already from her 2022 campaign. Further, she enjoyed Trump’s endorsement as well as numerous other Republican lawmakers.

CORNYN DRIVES RECORD FUNDRAISING AS SENATE LEADER RACE TO SUCCEED MCCONNELL DRAWS NEAR

With Sinema’s decision to leave the Democratic Party and not to run for re-election in Arizona, Gallego ended up running unopposed in the Democratic primary race.

Gallego and Lake will now face off in the general election on Nov. 5.

Arizona’s open Senate seat is rated as “Lean Democratic” by non-partisan political handicapper the Cook Political Report. It is joined in the category by Senate races in swing states Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, which both have Democratic incumbents.

Rep. Ciscomani fends off primary challenge from fellow Republican ahead of tight election

Rep. Juan Ciscomani, R-Ariz., on Tuesday fended off a primary challenge from another Republican putting pressure on him from the right — ahead of what is expected to be a tight contest in November.

Ciscomani won the GOP primary for the 6th Congressional District ahead of Kathleen Winn, who placed third in the 2022 primary for the seat.  He will face Democrat Kristen Engel in November, who received more than 49% of the vote against him in the 2022 contest.

CRUCIAL SOUTHWESTERN BATTLEGROUND HOLDS SENATE, HOUSE PRIMARIES TODAY

Ciscomani brandished bipartisan credentials and has repeatedly defended his ability to work with Democrats. Winn, however, challenged the narrative that it was a district that wanted a moderate representative.

“We keep hearing this as a moderate district. I believe it’s a conservative district,” she said this month according to the Tucson Sentinel.

Winn had also accused Ciscomani of refusing to engage with her.

“My opponent is not acknowledging I exist,” Winn said.

TRUMP ENDORSES 2 GOP CANDIDATES IN SAME KEY ARIZONA HOUSE PRIMARY

Ciscomani, however, has been able to tout the endorsement of former President Donald Trump.

“Congressman Juan Ciscomani is doing an incredible job representing the great people of Arizona’s 6th Congressional District,” Trump said on Truth Social in May. “Juan is working hard to Secure our Border, Defend our Wonderful Military and Veterans, Promote Election Integrity, and Expand American Jobs and the Economy.”

The district is judged to be a tossup by the Cook Political Report, which rates the race an R+3. In 2022, Ciscomani got 50.7% of the vote, compared to the 49.2% of Engel.

It’s one of a number of close races in the swing state, where the presidential race is expected to be close. There are a number of House and Senate races being closely watched.

The contest grabbing the most national attention is the race to succeed Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, who is not seeking another term in office. In terms of the presidential contest, the state was won by Trump in 2016 and by President Biden in 2020.

GOP rep wins primary to defend closely watched Arizona seat

Republican Rep. David Schweikert has won the battle for the party’s nod to keep one of the most vulnerable congressional seats in Arizona, which Democrats are hoping to flip in November.

The 1st Congressional District is currently held by Schweikert, who narrowly won re-election in 2022 by less than 1%, and was the frontrunner going into the primary.

CRUCIAL SOUTHWESTERN BATTLEGROUND HOLDS SENATE, HOUSE PRIMARIES TODAY

Businessman Robert Backie and ex-FBI agent and corporate investigator Kim George were his primary rivals. Axios reported that Schweikert led both parties’ fields in fundraising, bringing in $2.5 million. Two of the top Democrats had raised about $1.5 million each.

Schweikert has served in the House for nearly 15 years and has won re-election in a number of redrawn districts since being elected in 2010.

Candidates hoping to oust him in November included ex-state party chair and 2010 state treasurer nominee Andrei Cherny, ex-local news anchor Marlene Galán-Woods, orthodontist Andrew Horne, ex-regional American Red Cross CEO Kurt Kroemer, investment banker Conor O’Callaghan and ex-state Rep. Amish Shah. The results of that primary were not known at the time of publication.

The Cook Political Report rates the race as a toss-up, with the report giving it a R+2 rating, meaning Schweikert is narrowly favored – but that was before the Democratic nominee was decided.

Arizona is a closely watched state this election season, with multiple races in the House and Senate as well as the presidential contest all potentially to be decided by thin margins.

In the state legislature, Republicans hold a thin majority and Democrats are hoping to take both chambers. If so, it would be the first time they took the House since 1966. The contest grabbing the most national attention is the race to succeed Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, the Democrat-turned-independent who is not seeking a second six-year term in the Senate.

First-term GOP rep fends off grudge challenge from McCarthy-backed primary opponent in Arizona thumbnail

First-term GOP rep fends off grudge challenge from McCarthy-backed primary opponent in Arizona

Rep. Eli Crane, R-Ariz., fought off a primary challenge Tuesday against a challenger he sought to tie to ousted Speaker Kevin McCarthy, whom Crane voted to remove last year.

Crane had faced a challenge for the seat in Arizona’s 2nd Congressional District from Jack Smith, a former member of the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors.

Crane was one of eight Republicans who voted to remove Speaker McCarthy last year, and Smith reportedly received indirect financial support from McCarthy’s allies to challenge the freshman.

CRUCIAL SOUTHWESTERN BATTLEGROUND HOLDS SENATE, HOUSE PRIMARIES TODAY

Crane had cast Smith as someone funded by the D.C. “swamp.”

“Kevin McCarthy recently recruited an ambitious guy named Jack Smith to primary me. Nobody in the district asked him to run, just a corrupt swamp creature who’s bitter that he lost his grip on power,” Crane said in a fundraising email, according to The Arizona Republic.

Smith had accused Crane of betraying the GOP with his votes and also took aim at him for refusing to debate. Smith had also brushed off comparisons with the former speaker and said he had never met him.

“If you want to just throw at me that I’m a McCarthy guy, that’s great. I would happily join with Kevin McCarthy if he wanted to join the team to help us get some reality back to the district,” Smith said, according to the Republic.

Tuesday’s primaries were originally scheduled for Aug. 6, but the legislature switched dates to allow more vote counting time in case of a recount.

Kamala Harris expected to be lone Democratic presidential candidate ahead of party’s official vote

Vice President Kamala Harris is the only presidential candidate who has qualified to run for the Democratic presidential nomination, the Democratic National Committee said Tuesday.

No other major Democrat had made any indication they planned to seek the party’s nomination to take on former President Trump in November, but the DNC’s announcement officially clears the path for the vice president to run unopposed for the nomination, according to The Associated Press.

This comes after President Biden announced he was suspending his re-election campaign.

VP HARRIS HOLDS RALLY IN CRUCIAL BATTLEGROUND STATE DAYS BEFORE TRUMP AT SAME VENUE

The party’s national convention delegates will vote to officially ratify the nominee in a new online voting procedure adopted by the party last week. Voting will begin Thursday and finish on Monday, the statement said, adding that votes for anyone other than Harris will be tallied as “present.”

Harris had easily secured enough delegates to replace Biden as the party’s presumptive nominee, according to a survey by The Associated Press.

Party rules state that to qualify to compete for the nomination, a candidate must submit a notarized declaration of candidacy, meet legal requirements to be president and secure the electronic signatures of at least 300 delegates, with no more than 50 of the 300 signatures from any one delegation.

BIDEN TOP ADVISER ANITA DUNN LEAVES WHITE HOUSE FOR SUPER PAC SUPPORTING HARRIS

According to the DNC, 3,923 delegates had petitioned to nominate Harris.

Even with the early vote to choose a nominee, delegates will still attend the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in late August. The party will hold a ceremonial state-by-state roll call vote on the convention floor before Harris and her running mate, who has not yet been named, deliver speeches.

Biden administration to email all student loan holders about possible debt relief thumbnail

Biden administration to email all student loan holders about possible debt relief

If you have a federal student loan, you’ll be hearing from President Joe Biden soon.

The Biden administration will email roughly 30 million loanees this week to let them know about possible student debt relief they may be eligible for as the administration seeks to overcome courtroom challenges to its myriad cancellation programs.

“By providing more information to borrowers on how they can take advantage of our upcoming debt relief programs, borrowers will be prepared to benefit swiftly once the rules are final,” Biden said in a prepared statement. “Despite attempts led by Republican elected officials to block our efforts, we won’t stop fighting to provide relief to student loan borrowers, fix the broken student loan system, and help borrowers get out from under the burden of student debt.”

Biden has previously sent emails to loanees letting them know he has canceled their debt, though many of his proposals are tied up in court and may be overruled before becoming finalized. The administration says it has canceled student loans for 5 million people so far at a cost to taxpayers of $168 billion.

“From day one of my administration, I promised to fight to ensure higher education is a ticket to the middle class, not a barrier to opportunity,” the president said. “I will never stop working to make higher education affordable and to make sure our administration delivers for the American people.”

Student loans have been one of Biden’s most high-profile, aggressive, and controversial policy areas since taking office three years ago. His initial plan would have cost taxpayers at least $400 billion but was ruled illegal by the Supreme Court last summer. Undaunted, Biden has since rolled out additional proposals that would be similarly pricey if fully implemented.

Biden’s Department of Education says it will email every person with a federal student loan and let them know they have until Aug. 30 opt out “if they do not want this relief.”

“The rules that would provide this relief are not yet finalized, and the email does not guarantee specific borrowers will be eligible,” the department added in a press release.

The rules the administration hopes to finalize this fall would expand its cancellation efforts from 5 million to 30 million loanees.

“Today, the Biden-Harris administration takes another step forward in our drive to deliver student debt relief to borrowers who’ve been failed by a broken system,” Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said. “These latest steps will mark the next milestone in our efforts to help millions of borrowers who’ve been buried under a mountain of student loan interest.”

The draft rules the administration proposed in April would transfer debts for people who owe more than their initial balance, those who have had loans for more than 20 years, those who qualify for loan cancelation but have not applied, and those who enrolled in what the administration deems “low-financial value programs.”

If approved, loan cancellation would happen automatically and there would not be an application process borrowers needed to go through.

Republicans have bristled at the initiatives, and GOP-led states have filed multiple successful lawsuits seeking to block Biden’s programs.

“Joe Biden is the real threat to democracy, and that is proven by his administration’s unconstitutional attempt to override the United States Supreme Court and force taxpayers to subsidize free college for other people,” Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said in June. “Even Nancy Pelosi said the president has no authority to cancel student loans, but the Biden administration is so desperate for votes, they are willing to break the law to essentially buy them.”

US women’s gymnastics team wins the gold at the Olympics

The U.S. women’s gymnastics team won the gold medal at the Olympics on Tuesday.

It was the first time since 2016 that the team won the gold medal and the fourth time overall for U.S. women’s gymnastics. They finished ahead of the surprising silver medalists Italy, who received a medal in Olympics gymnastics for the first time since 1928. The U.S. finished with 171.296 points, while Italy had 165.494. Brazil took third place and the bronze medal with 164.497 points.

The U.S. team was led by gymnastics superstar Simone Biles, now in her third Olympics. Despite a few routine mishaps, the U.S. team dominated the competition. The team’s lead was so large that those mistakes did not wind up mattering much in the final result.

While the spotlight was undoubtedly on Biles, teammate Sunisa “Suni” Lee might have been the unsung hero of the competition.

Lee, who won the gold medal in the all-around competition in the last summer Olympics in Tokyo, overcame a serious kidney disease in 2023. The condition was so severe that it caused her entire body to swell up, and she was unsure if she would ever be able to compete again. Her performance on the uneven bars on Tuesday helped the U.S. clinch the gold.

On Tuesday, after the victory, Lee mentioned that she was nervous about the competition on Monday night and sought guidance from team leader Simone Biles and fellow teammate Jordan Chiles, ESPN reported.

“We’re just really trying to support and lean on one another,” Lee said. “So that’s kind of the nature of the conversation, just letting each other know that we can lean on each other because we’ve been there. It’s really hard to be doing what we are doing, and it’s easier if we can lean on each other.”

Next up for the women’s gymnastics team is the all-around competition and the individual event finals for the balance beam, vault, uneven bars, and floor exercise. Biles, who won her fifth gold medal and eighth medal overall with the victory on Tuesday, has the opportunity to add to her collection.

The team’s win on Tuesday made Biles the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history. Now, she has the opportunity to add to her legend and become the American gymnast awarded the most gold medals ever in Olympic competitions.
