JUST IN: A Winner Has Been Declared In AZ Senate Primary Between Kari Lake & Mark Lamb

Trump-endorsed candidate in Kari Lake has emerged victorious in Arizona’s Republican Senate primary, leading to a general election faceoff with a far-left challenger.

Lake defeated Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb in a race that was called not long after polls closed at 7 p.m. West Coast time.

Lake — who narrowly lost to current Governor Katie Hobbs in a 2022 gubernatorial election that was plagued by voting machine “errors” in Maricopa County — had long polled as a favorite over Lamb. One poll from the Phoenix-based research firm Noble Predictive Insights (NPI), which was conducted a week before the election, showed Lake leading by double digits among likely Republican voters. “Lake is, though, sitting at the coveted 50 percent threshold if the election were held today, and Lamb only at 38 percent,” NPI CEO Mike Noble told KTAR News 92.3 FM after the survey’s findings were released on Monday morning.

(BREAKING: Your Bank Account Is About To Be Cut In HALF)

Lamb appears to have done better among early voters, as Lake’s lead among those who had already cast their ballots was just six points in the NPI poll. She found herself in the lead with 56 percent of the vote to 45 percent for Lamb among those who had not yet to cast their ballots, however.

With the Republican nomination now secured, Lake will be facing off against U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) in the November general election. Gallego was the only Democrat running in the race. The seat is currently held by Senator Kyrsten Sinema, who was elected as a Democrat before switching her party affiliation to independent.

Sinema announced that she will not be seeking re-election earlier this year.

If elected, Gallego has stated that he will work to get rid of the filibuster in the Senate and has endorsed court packing. He has also endorsed a number of amnesty initiatives for illegal aliens, has suggested that illegal aliens should have the right to vote, and has opposed a number of border security initiatives.

WATCH: Kamala ‘Supporters’ Leave Rally Early, Only Showed Up For Rap Performance

The New Atlantis

A number of alleged “supporters” of Vice President Kamala Harris could be seen leaving her Atlanta rally as soon as she took the stage on Tuesday. Videos and reports from the event suggest that attendees had only shown up for a pre-event rap concert.

Ahead of Harris’ Atlanta rally, hit rapper Megan Thee Stallion put on a racy performance of a number of her most popular hits. “I’m a savage, yeah. Classy, bougie, ratchet, yeah. Sassy, moody, nasty, huh. Acting stupid, what’s happening?” she rapped.

While the rapper was performing, the Atlanta arena was largely packed, leading the Harris Campaign to claim the rally as a massive success. Several Harris surrogates fawned over the “capacity crowd” allegedly for Harris by showing videos of the crowd cheering for Megan Thee Stallion as she exited the arena.

(BREAKING: Famed Economist Predicts ‘1987 Style’ Stock Market Crash)

Turning Point USA reporter Savanah Hernandez reported that people started to file out of the arena just minutes into the vice president’s speech. Supporters could be seen getting up and leaving all across the arena after the rapper’s performance had concluded.

“I was honestly surprised to see people leaving so quickly and started filming after seeing continuous streams of people leaving fairly quickly after seeing her,” Hernandez reported.

“Now you guys saw all of the footage, and there was actually a lot of energy for her in the building. Almost every single seat was filled, not every single one. But many people are questioning, well, were they here to see Kamala, or were they here because Quavo, Meg Thee Stallion were here, and it was essentially a giant concert,” Hernandez reported.

“I’m going to be honest, guys. People started leaving about 15 minutes after she started speaking, which was kind of notable to me because, you know, this is her first presidential rally in Georgia, and so I thought people would have wanted to listen to her, and then also she really only spoke for about 30 minutes, I would say, so it was a very, very short speech, but people couldn’t make it through it.”

WATCH: Kamala Harris Unveils New Southern Accent During Atlanta Campaign Event

The New Atlantis

Kamala Harris — a California native with Jamaican and Indian heritage — spoke with a southern accent while addressing supporters in Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesday.

“And you all helped us win in 2020, and we gon’ do it again in 2024,” the vice president declared with a southern twang.

(STAY INFORMED! Download the FREE Trending Politics app)

The exceptionally weird display quickly became a subject of ridicule on social media.

“‘We gon’ do it agin in twunny twunny fo!’ Kamala seems to have developed Sudden Onset Urban Accent. A condition that the last female presidential candidate famously suffered from,” said Daily Wire contributor Matt Walsh.

Others pointed out that Tuesday’s rally was far from the first time Harris miraculously adopted a new accent while speaking to southern voters.

While addressing voters ahead of the Georgia Senate runoff elections in 2020, Harris spoke with some sort of southern drawl while speaking in Columbus. “We’re looking across the country at so much devastation. People who have lost family members, lost time being able to go to work, lost time in terms of our children’s education and the days of their education they have missed,” then Vice President-elect Harris told supporters while frequently pausing as if she were giving a sermon.

Harris’ spontaneous southern accent has also surfaced during campaign events in North Carolina and Washington D.C.

Harris could perhaps be taking pointers from President Biden, who has long been known for switching his accent and rehashing different details about his upbringing based on where he is speaking.

While on the campaign trail in 2012, then Vice President Biden told black churchgoers that then-Republican candidate Mitt Romney was going to “put ya’ll back in chains.”

In 2022, President Biden quoted a “southern saying” that nobody seemed to know while speaking in Florida.

“You know, as they say in southern, doesn’t know where ya’ll been… hot damn boy.”

BREAKING: Secret Service Counter-Sniper Goes Rogue, Predicts ANOTHER Attempt On Trump

The New Atlantis

A steady drip of damning revelations about the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump is starting to lead to agents in the Secret Service making predictions that it won’t be long before a second attempt is made on his life.

RealClearPolitics White House correspondent Susan Crabtree reported on internal messages shared by agency counter-snipers gnashing their teeth about the Secret Service’s worst security failure in decades, confiding that he hopes senior-level officials are fired and that if protocols don’t change soon his colleagues should expect another catastrophe. “A Secret Service counter sniper sent an email Monday night to the entire Uniformed Division (not agents) saying he will not stop speaking out until ‘5 high-level supervisors (1 down) are either fired or removed from their current positions,’” Crabtree wrote on X. “The counter sniper also said the agency ‘SHOULD expect another assassination attempt’ before November and complained that he is no longer proud to be a USSS counter sniper after leadership failed the officers at the Trump rally in Butler on 7/13.”

(VOTE: Are You Supporting TRUMP Or KAMALA In November?)

She continued: “‘This agency NEEDS to change,’ the sniper wrote in the email. ‘If not now, WHEN? ‘The NEXT assassination in 30 days?’ Sadly we have fallen short for YEARS. We just look good doing it. I have conveyed these thoughts to not only supervisors (to include the current Captain of CS, but those responsible for training us (SOTS/CS). Only to be brushed off as those with less experience somehow knew more than me.”

Kimberly Cheatle, former director of the clandestine detail around current and former presidents as well as top candidates for the White House, resigned in disgrace last week after telling the House Oversight Committee that she accepted responsibility for allowing 20-year-old Thomas Crooks to come within an inch of killing President Trump. In previous interviews, she defended her decision to not place a sniper on the roof where Crooks was able to gain a line of sight to the stage, saying its slope would have made it difficult for a counter-sniper to be staged there. Other revelations produced by the FBI and Oversight Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) show that the Secret Service largely left the perimeter of the rally to local authorities who declined to investigate Crooks as he scoured the site in advance of the rally. The Bureau is also investigating the apparent fleeing by one officer who encountered Crooks seconds before he opened fire.

“The team I was once proud to be a part of, is something I have to somehow hide as I move into my next career,” the counter-sniper continued. “Who wants to hire a USSS CS guy who failed? That’s the public perception I’m not faced with. The USSS CS team is a stain I will never be able to cleanse.”

He concluded with these two lines: “The motto of the USSS…CYA. And every supervisor is doing it right now.” The email was quickly deleted, but not before a recipient grabbed a screenshot with the agent’s name and shared it with Crabtree who posted the unredacted message online.

JUST IN: Top Kamala VP Candidate Drops Out As Final Contenders Are Revealed

The New Atlantis

A popular Southern Democrat has decided he wants no part in the Harris presidential campaign, recently telling allies that he would not consider joining her ticket if asked.

The opposite sentiment has been par for the course among Democrats eager to fill her No. 2 place since President Joe Biden announced the end of his reelection bid last week. Now with Vice President Kamala Harris set to face down former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), the chattering class’s latest parlor guessing game is about who would most help the embattled veep out with climbing back to even in the polls. To that end, observers can count North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper out of the race, according to the Western Journal.

(VOTE: Are You Supporting TRUMP Or KAMALA In November?)

Cooper, 67 has won plaudits at the local level for his ability to win votes in a red state lost by President Biden four years ago, and he has been winning elections since joining the state legislature at the age of 29 in 1986, WRAL reported. Earlier this month he told reporters that he fully stood behind Harris. “Kamala Harris should be the next president,” Cooper wrote on social media. “I’ve known [Harris] going back to our days as AGs, and she has what it takes to defeat Donald Trump and lead our country thoughtfully and with integrity. I look forward to campaigning for her as we work to win NC up and down the ticket.”

That enthusiasm, however, doesn’t mean he wants to deal with the inescapable rough-and-tumble of national politics. “This just wasn’t the right time for North Carolina and for me to potentially be on a national ticket,” Cooper posted to X Monday. “As I’ve said from the beginning, [Harris] has an outstanding list of people from which to choose, and we’ll all work to make sure she wins.”

Others who remain rumored to be on the veep’s shortlist include Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. Strategists with Harris have previously outlined how her path to victory will likely be through the southern states, comprised of higher populations of minority voters, rather than Democrats’ more reliable “Blue Wall” of midwestern and Rust Belt states. Recent polling shows the Democrat trailing Trump more narrowly than Biden, but to break even she will in all likelihood need to dampen Black enthusiasm for Trump, which is at the highest level for a Republican presidential candidate since the Civil Rights era.

In a sign that the midwest is falling out of favor with the Harris camp, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer confirmed she is “not a part of the vetting” process, telling CBS News that she stands behind her party’s candidate but will be watching from the sidelines. “I have communicated with everyone, including the people of Michigan, that I’m going to stay as governor until the end of my term at the end of 2026,” Whitmer said.

The Democratic National Convention is set to take place in Chicago on August 19th, and the Harris campaign has said it intends to announce her running mate shortly.

Facebook ADMITS It Censored Historic Trump Photo After Shooting thumbnail

Facebook ADMITS It Censored Historic Trump Photo After Shooting

The New Atlantis

Facebook on Monday admitted to investigators that it temporarily shadow-banned the historic photo of former President Donald Trump proudly pumping a bloody fist in the air following the July 13th attempted assassination on his life.

The decision to censor the iconic image, which was originally set to grace the front of Time Magazine’s August edition, was an “error,” according to a company spokesman asked by the New York Post. According to the conservative social media account End Wokeness, a message from the company threatened to suspend another user after sharing the image which was purported to be “misinformation.” Dani Lever, a spokesman for Facebook’s parent company Meta, called that decision a “mistake.”

(VOTE: Are You Supporting TRUMP Or KAMALA In November?)

“Yes, this was an error,” Lever wrote in response to a message from Charlie Kirk who had also blasted the social media network for disallowing sharing of the photo. “This fact check was initially applied to a doctored photo showing the secret service agents smiling, and in some cases our systems incorrectly applied that fact check to the real photo.” Lever added that “this has been fixed and we apologize for the mistake.”

Users were up in arms over the apology, responding sarcastically that it must have been a “coincidence” that Facebook was once again censoring conservatives and MAGA faithful. “Nope, not buying it anymore,” one user on X said. “Funny that the ‘errors’ only ever go in one direction. Just coincidence, I guess,” wrote another. The Post also noted that Meta was just coming out of yet another anti-conservative controversy after its new AI chatbot referred to the Trump shooting as “fictional” when being asked to describe the incident.

Ironically, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg previously said in an interview that watching Trump pump his fist in that photo was one of the most “badass” moves he’s ever seen by a politician. Still, the world’s largest social media company is working to aggressively extricate itself from the political scene, prompting users on Instagram to “opt-in” if they would like to receive political content while making it increasingly difficult for political campaigns to run effective advertisements. A series of Wall Street Journal investigations in 2021 found that the company’s algorithms have for years promoted content that generated angry comments and other forms of engagement, generating activity but worsening the overall experience for users.

Earlier this year a federal judge ruled that the Biden administration unlawfully pressured Facebook and other social media companies to censor alternative points of view about the pandemic, suppressing information on alternative therapies to vaccines or questioning the effectiveness of masks in public. In a scathing rebuke, the judge ruled that the White House had overstepped its boundaries and limited the First Amendment freedoms of conservatives. The decision came in response to lawsuits filed by Republican attorneys general who claimed federal officials overstepped their authority by contacting companies like Twitter and Facebook to shut down accounts and chat rooms dedicated to questioning the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines during the height of the pandemic.

However, in June the U.S. Supreme Court reversed that order, siding with the Biden administration that it followed proper procedures in ordering Facebook to limit the spread of posts it deemed harmful to public safety.

“The plaintiffs rely on allegations of past Government censorship as evidence that future censorship is likely,” Justice Amy Coney Barrett wrote in the majority opinion, the Daily Caller reported. “But they fail, by and large, to link their past social-media restrictions to the defendants’ communications with the platforms. Thus, the events of the past do little to help any of the plaintiffs establish standing to seek an injunction to prevent future harms.”

Trump Reveals Melania’s Reaction To His Near Assassination: ‘She Can’t Even Talk About It’

The New Atlantis

In a new interview, former President Donald Trump gave viewers a glimpse into how traumatic his brush with death was for former First Lady Melania Trump.

Speaking with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, the 45th president and Republican candidate told the story of sitting with his wife of 19 years as they first discussed the attempted assassination on July 13th. Watching live, Melania saw Trump grab his ear and go down, fearing the worst had happened, he said.

(VOTE: Are You Supporting TRUMP Or KAMALA In November?)

“She was watching live. It was all over the place. It was on television, it was on your network… She was watching, I asked her that. I wasn’t there, I was on the ground. And when the world started to, like you could talk to people, I said so what was your feeling? And she just can’t even really even talk about it,” Trump told the anchor, who characterized her reaction as “traumatized.”

“Which is okay, because she likes me,” he joked, lightening the mood. “Or she loves me.”

“I mean, let’s say she could talk about it freely. I’m not so sure. But I will say this: When I went down she thought the worst had happened, because I went down. My hand was loaded up with blood, you saw it on instant replay.”

WATCH:

Ingraham responded by agreeing with Trump on how important it is for authorities to “get to the bottom” of how 20-year-old Thomas Crooks was able to skirt the Secret Service and position himself on a rooftop just several hundred yards from the stage where the former president was speaking to rallygoers in Butler, Pennsylvania. Supporters argue that dereliction on the part of the Secret Service, including the potential diverting of officers to staff First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, contributed to a security failure that is among the worst in the agency’s history. Last week FBI Director Christopher Wray told a bipartisan consortium of lawmakers that an ongoing investigation has uncovered how Crooks used a drone to survey the site before opening fire and text messages between officers show the young man was under surveillance up to a half-hour in advance.

The disclosures have sparked anger among conservatives who have cudgeled the FBI director in the past for other perceived offenses, including downplaying the emergence of Hunter Biden’s laptop as a product of Russian disinformation, a claim which a special counsel investigator later found unsubstantiated. Less than a week after the shooting, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned following several interviews and congressional testimony where she accepted blame while appearing to deflect responsibility on local authorities who were entrusted to guard the perimeter of the rally where Crooks found his vantage point. Over the weekend, another security failure at a Trump event in Nashville led the Secret Service to briefly hide him off-stage while two individuals were investigated for bypassing security measures to gain access to the room where he was speaking.

JUST IN: Secret Service Delays Trump’s Speech After ANOTHER Major Security Lapse

Two suspicious attendees at President Trump’s appearance at a Bitcoin conference on Saturday led the Secret Service to shield the former president from the crowd while they investigated the second security lapse around him in as many weeks.

Fox News reported on the delay preceding Trump’s remarks at the 2024 Bitcoin national conference in Nashville, Tennessee where cryptocurrency holders and titans of industry were waiting anxiously to hear from the presidential candidate many feel will do the most good for their nascent tender. The annual event has grown each year and drew an estimated 35,000 from around the world, but it was two individuals who slipped through strict entry protocols, briefly sending the Secret Service into a tailspin. A spokesman for the agency confirmed to Fox News that two “credentialed and screened” attendees were removed from the venue. The interruption forced agents to hold President Trump backstage at the Music City Center where thousands of evening attendees waited to hear his keynote address.

“It was determined that there was no protective interest with these individuals and there was never a threat to the former president,” the spokesperson said.

According to sources present, both individuals made their way around metal detectors that every attendee was required to pass through. At one point they were stopped and asked for their credentials, one source said, but bypassed a second screening, forcing Trump to stay backstage while Secret Service agents worked with event staff to locate the two individuals in a crowd of thousands. Law enforcement questioned both of them after they were removed from the venue and were determined not to be a threat to the former president.

Another disquieting occurrence around President Trump comes two weeks after a gunman struck his ear with a high-caliber rifle round, nearly killing him before Secret Service snipers shot and killed the young man. Twenty-year-old Thomas Crooks, a recent high school graduate who became infatuated with guns and political leaders, was able to avoid Secret Service scrutiny in the days leading up to a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and even during the event itself. An ongoing FBI investigation has found that Crooks flew a drone above the site shortly before President Trump went on stage, and during the speech, he was seen by snipers crawling along the ground with a rangefinder as he searched for a vantage point to the stage. FBI Director Christopher Wray told lawmakers on Friday that he can’t get into all the specifics of why Crooks was able to slip through intense security measures.

“We have tried to be transparent with Congress and with the American people as we are going along in the investigation, frankly unusually so given the sheer nature of it. We have provided a lot of information… in response to your questions and your colleagues,” Wray told the House Oversight Committee, explaining how “facts change” over the course of investigations. “Part of our goal is not just to respect the ongoing investigation process but also to make sure that we don’t prematurely provide information that then two days later turns out to be different from what we told people.”

Delaware Republican running for governor aims to flip one-party rule in Biden’s home state after three decades

A Republican primary candidate for governor of Delaware, Mike Ramone, said in a conversation with Fox News Digital that he intends to beat what he called one-party rule in President Biden’s home state.

Currently serving as the minority leader of the state House, Ramone said he intends to flip the governor’s office red for the first time in more than three decades come November.

“Delaware has been controlled by one party for 32 years. And I am here to give Delaware a choice,” Ramone said. “Balance brings discussion and discussion brings vetting, and vetting avoids unintended consequences…. There is the far red and the far blue that both will be out to vote. But I believe that many far-blue might even consider that they can do better also in the state of Delaware.”

Under Democratic leadership, Ramone argued that Delaware has morphed into one of the worst states when it comes to education, health care, safety, traffic, and business friendliness.

He said it’s the only state in the nation that had negative GDP.

“We need to go back to line item reviews of every single expense we make because we’re spending people’s taxes. It’s not our money. It’s their money. And I do think Ronald Reagan had it best, you know, ‘Are you better off today than you were then?’ And if people feel they’re better off, we won’t have a Republican,” Ramone said. “But if they feel that they’re tired of the drama in politics, if they feel they want to have a leader who leads from the front but supports from the back, if they feel that it’s time to move into the technology and the job development in fintech, in pharma, in other aspects like Pete DuPont did for our state when he moved us into being the corporate capital of the world, then they’re going to vote for Mike Ramone. They’re going to vote for a business person.”

Ramone, who has more than 40 years of experience in the business sector, said Delaware voters need to consider “management style” when electing their leaders.

KAMALA HARRIS EYES GOVERNORS FROM BATTLEGROUND STATES AS POSSIBLE VP PICKS

“The way we manage our state currently is dysfunctional. Our education system is one of the highest funded and one of the lowest in results. Our health care system is absolutely havoc-ridden,” he said. “I do not believe digesting hatred or negativeness or tainting facts is something I will ever be part of … I just think there are so many things we can do better. We need to stay focused. We need to create a vision.”

According to latest voter registration data available this month, Democrats outnumber Republicans nearly two to one in the state. Delaware also has about 16,600 more independent voters than registered Republicans, and Democrats currently control nine statewide offices. Additionally, Ramone’s campaign comes at a pivotal point nationally after Biden exited the presidential race.

“Joe Biden. We are all proud of Joe. I’m a Republican, and I can say that because he’s the first Delawarean to ever become a president of the country,” Ramone said. “And I think that’s just wonderful. However, I don’t think the style of leadership we watched in the last years of presidential campaigns and so forth are what’s indicative of Delaware.”

Ramone, who first went into business at age 20, taking out an $8,000 loan to open his first flower shop, said he’s willing to put his reputation on the line to run the state in a way that’s “fiscally responsible” again.

Delaware lost the three c’s – credit cards, chemicals and cars – when two major car manufacturers, the juggernaut DuPont, and MBNA closed their doors, Ramone said.

He argued the state has the ideal location to become a fintech hub with Silicon Valley-esque initiatives to bring higher-paying jobs in different sectors to the state, not what he called the “$15 Amazon jobs.”

Ramone described education as a “catastrophe” in the state, arguing that most funding gets tied up in administration in the state’s 19 school districts and department of education, rather than being used in classrooms.

First elected to the state House 16 years ago, Ramone has survived eight separate elections to hold onto his district, which has more registered Democratic voters per capita than the state has as a whole.

DEMOCRAT GOVERNORS REEL FROM BIDEN’S PUTIN-ZELENSKYY GAFFE, IMPLICATIONS FOR US LEADERSHIP ON WORLD STAGE

“My belief is simple. My district is 8,000-something Democrats,” Ramone said. “It’s somewhere around 5,000 Republicans and around 5,200 independents. I’m the only elected official lucky enough to be reelected eight times in the state of Delaware, representing the third party, not the second party. I was in the minority minority. There’s more independents than Republicans, so I think I have a pretty good feel of building relationships. I think I have a pretty big feel of listening, and I think I have my fingers on the pulse of what Delaware is about. Delaware is a state that has an enormous amount of people who are fiscally reasonable, financially conservative, and socially moderate to liberal. In other words, leave people alone. Let them live their lives. But don’t clobber me for taxes and have overzealous government.”

A father and grandfather, Ramone said he intends to make Delaware a state where younger generations can afford to live and prosper, instead of having to move elsewhere.

Delaware’s last Republican governor was Mike Castle, who served in the position from 1985 to 1993.

Despite running during a presidential election year, Ramone said he believes his resume and business acumen will win him the governor’s office.

“When I ran in my district, Mike Ramone signs were right next to a lot of Joe Biden signs, Mike Ramone signs right next to a lot of Donald Trump signs and Mike Ramone signs were in a lot of yards with no signs. So Delaware is small enough that I believe the national rhetoric may involve a higher level of turnout. But I don’t believe that turnout will help nor hurt me,” Ramone said.

Any traction for former President Trump in Kent and Sussex counties, Ramone argued, would be offset in New Castle County, where more Democrats would be motivated to bring out the vote against Trump.

“I think it’s almost what you call revenue neutral. I think it’s going to offset itself. I’m not worried about what goes on nationally. I’m worried about what goes on in my community, in my state, and in each one of our three wonderful counties,” Ramone said. “You get into these campaigns, and they get so busy throwing bombs at each other, they forget to say why they should even be there. I’ll be focused on why I should be there. I’ll be focused on what I can do to help people. I will be focused on making Delaware a better place to live.”

In Delaware, the governor’s office is term limited, so current Democratic Gov. John Carney cannot run for re-election this year.

Ramone will still need to advance through the Sept. 10 Republican primary.

Jerry Price, a former New York Police Department officer, first announced his GOP bid for governor of Delaware in December. Ramone entered the primary race in May, and a third Republican, Bobby Williamson, launched his bid just earlier this month. For Democrats, current Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long and New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer are competing in the gubernatorial primary.

The winner from each party will face off in the Nov. 5 general election.

Gillibrand, Hawley lead bipartisan bill to create mental health hotline for police, first responders

FIRST ON FOX: A Democrat and Republican senator duo are looking to take on higher rates of mental health issues among first responders with new legislation.

Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., and Josh Hawley, R-Mo., partnered to introduce the First Responders Wellness Act on Wednesday, which would create a grant program that would help provide mental health resources and services to law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical services personnel and public safety telecommunicators. It would also establish a mental health hotline devoted to assisting first responders.

“I’m proud to work with Senator Hawley on this important legislation and look forward to getting it across the finish line,” Gillibrand said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “Our first responders put themselves in extremely challenging and life-threatening situations in order to keep us safe.
