Monday begins with another decrease at the pumps for consumers. The average price for a gallon of regular gas dropped to $3.443 on Monday. This was slightly cheaper than Sunday’s prices, which came in at $3.445 per gallon. It was the second straight week that began with a decrease in gas prices.

Gas prices: Another decrease at the pumps heading into the weekend

Gas prices dropped again on Friday, marking yet another day of decreases at the pumps. Friday’s dip resulted in gas prices costing over six cents per gallon less than a month ago. 

Friday’s decrease meant the average price for a gallon of regular gas in the United States was $3.454, according to AAA. This was a very slight decrease from Thursday, when it cost $3.455. Prices are also cheaper now than a week ago, when they cost $3.481, and a month ago when they cost $3.519.

Gas prices remain an important issue heading into the 2024 presidential election. With Biden deciding not to seek reelection, Vice President Kamala Harris, now the likely Democratic nominee, will have to indicate how she will address the country’s high gas prices and energy costs and how both affect the economy and people’s finances.

And, continuing this trend, gas prices are cheaper now than a month ago when drivers in Washington, D.C., paid $3.709 per gallon.

Maryland

On Friday, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Maryland remained steady at $3.488, the same price as Thursday. This is an increase from a week ago, when a gallon of regular gas averaged $3.431. However, prices are lower than a month ago when people in Maryland paid $3.59 for a gallon of regular gas.

Delaware

The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Delaware on Friday was $3.438. This was an increase from Thursday, when the cost was $3.425. Gas prices are considerably more expensive than a week ago, when the average was $3.33 per gallon. However, prices are less expensive now than a month ago, when drivers in the First State paid $3.455 for a gallon of regular gas.

Virginia

In Virginia, the average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas on Friday was $3.36. This was a slight decrease from the day before, when a gallon of regular cost $3.362. Gas prices are slightly more expensive in the state than a week ago, when regular-grade gas was $3.348 per gallon.
