Wisconsin swing voters express concern over Harris’s intelligence and hiding Biden’s cognitive decline

Wisconsin swing voters shared concerns about Vice President Kamala Harris’s honesty and intelligence.

During a segment airing Wednesday on MSNBC‘s Morning Joe, NBC political analyst Elise Jordan asked a panel of Wisconsin swing voters how they perceived the vice president “in terms of competency and experience” in comparison to President Joe Biden.

“She’s worse,” one woman responded.

Another woman chimed in, “She doesn’t even know what’s going on at the border. That’s what she was supposed to be doing.”

One of voters expressed not understanding how Harris’s job was not considered “in jeopardy” after not handling the border crisis and how the vice president is now being seen as “getting a promotion” to the top Democratic presidential candidate.

Jordan asked when the group of women believed the United States would finally vote for a female president.

“When there’s a competent one,” a female voter said.

Another woman added, “I think she’s an idiot.”

“Why do you think she is not that bright?” Jordan asked the woman who questioned the vice president’s intelligence.

“Because she hasn’t done anything in the time that she’s had. We don’t know anything about her as far as her three years so far in the White House. She’s not real smart,” the woman responded.

Jordan asked them if Harris hypothetically won the presidency, would they believe it was “an honest result?”

“Absolutely not,” the women responded.

“No one respects her,” one said.

The NBC analyst also interviewed a separate panel of swing voters in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and they questioned whether Harris was involved in covering up President Joe Biden’s deteriorating health and mental abilities.

“She also helped to keep him in where he’s at right now, and if he is really as bad as what they have been saying, I think if he steps down as president and she steps into the presidency before the end of his term. It almost makes me question a little bit more why it didn’t happen sooner,” a female voter told Jordan.

The woman added, “She’s worked with him. She’s been, to my understanding, with him daily or at least a couple of days a week. Why hasn’t this been brought to attention? If she is willing to hide that type of information, once she’s in office, now, what is she willing to hide for herself?”

One man on the panel called Harris a “power grabber.”

Top viral moments of Netanyahu’s fiery address to Congress amid protests

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu used his joint meeting address of Congress to rally support for his ongoing battle against Hamas terrorists in Gaza by laying out his “broader Middle East vision,” which was met with mixed reactions of rousing applause and protests.

While he spoke, thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters surrounded the outside of the Capitol in response to his appearance on Capitol Hill.

During his address, there were several notable highlights of his speech:

NETANYAHU: PROTESTERS ARE ‘IRAN’S USEFUL IDIOTS”

Netanyahu called out Iran for “funding and promoting anti-Israel protests in America” and suggested that protests outside the U.S. Capitol building were likely being funded by the regime.

The prime minister took on the thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters surrounding the Capitol, calling them “Iran’s useful idiots.”

“I have a message for these protesters: when the tyrants of Tehran who hang gays from cranes and murder women for not hiding their hair, are praising and promoting and funding you — you have officially become Iran’s useful idiots,” he declared.

REP. RASHIDA TLAIB HOLDS ‘WAR CRIMINAL’ PROTEST SIGN DURING ADDRESS

Squad member Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) sat during his speech while holding a sign that said “War Criminal” on one side and “Guilty of Genocide” on the other.

One social media user gave praise to C-Span for its coverage of Tlaib’s appearance at Netanyahu’s address.

“Honestly really loving the C-SPAN camera man who, right after Netanyahu shouts ‘useful idiots,’ cuts to Rashida Tlaib,” the social media user quipped.

ISRAELI PM: PROTESTERS MIGHT AS WELL ‘HOLD UP SIGNS SAYING ‘CHICKENS FOR KFC’

“Some of these protesters — it’s amazing, absolutely amazing — some of these protesters hold up signs proclaiming ‘Gays for Gaza.’ They might as well hold up signs saying, ‘Chickens for KFC,’” Netanyahu slammed the protesters.

Some protesters around Washington, D.C. waved their transgender and Palestinian flags on Wednesday.

“They do realize that they would be executed in Gaza, right?!?” musician Chad Prather asked on social media.

Netanyahu continued to take digs about the contradictions found among protest rhetoric.

“These protesters chant ‘from the river to the sea’, but many don’t have a clue what river and what sea they’re talking about. They’re not only get an ‘F’ in geography. They get an ‘F’ in history,” the prime minister said before Congress.

He added, “They called Israel a colonial state. Don’t they know that the land of Israel is where Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob prayed, where Isaiah and Jeremiah preached? And where David and Solomon ruled? For nearly 4,000 years, the land of Israel has been the homeland of the Jewish people. It’s always been our home. It will always be our home.”

HE PRAISED THE NORTH CAROLINA FRAT BOYS

The prime minister shared that he learned from U.S. intelligence that “Iran is funding and promoting anti-Israel protests in America.”

“They want to disrupt America. So these protesters burn American flags even on the Fourth of July. And I wish to salute the fraternal brothers at the University of North Carolina who protected the American flag against these anti-Israel protesters,” he said.

Netanyahu’s comments referred to a campus protest in May when a group of fraternity brothers at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill defended an American flag on the campus’s quad that protesters were attempting to take down. The video of the college students protecting the flag went viral.

Pro-Palestinian demonstrators frequently have been seen taking American flags off of flag poles and replacing them with the Palestinian flag during protest events. On Wednesday outside Union Station in Washington, D.C., protesters were seen taking down the American flag while Netanyahu spoke before Congress.

SEN. JOHN FETTERMAN WORE A SUIT

Senator John Fetterman (D-PA), known for his hoodies and shorts attire, cleaned up in a black business suit for the prime minister’s address. The Pennsylvania senator has defied the progressive wing in his party over his alliance with Israel.

Numerous viral social media posts of Fetterman interacting with pro-Palestinian protesters have shown his unwavering support for the country in the wake of the Oct. 7 attacks despite harsh criticism. Fetterman appearing in a suit has been a rare occasion. He has also been known to arrive in a tuxedo hoodie, as he did to the Washington Press Club’s annual dinner in January.

NETANYAHU PRAISES TRUMP

During Netanyahu’s address, the prime minister shared his relief that former President Donald Trump survived the “dastardly” assassination attempt, saying, “There is no room for political violence in democracies.”

He continued his praise of Trump by thanking him for brokering the historic Abraham Accords, recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights, and recognizing Jerusalem as their capital by moving the U.S. Embassy there.

ELON MUSK ARRIVES AS A SPECIAL GUEST OF NETANYAHU

Billionaire Elon Musk was invited as a guest of Netanyahu and sat with the Israeli prime minister’s wife, Sara Netanyahu, and other invited guests, including billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, rescued hostage Noa Argamani, and author Douglas Murray.

Numerous Democrats, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Democratic Whip Jim Clyburn (D-SC), Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) and Senate President Pro Tempore Patty Murray (D-WA), decided to not appear in protest of the Israeli prime minister’s speech before Congress.

Vice President Kamala Harris, who under the Constitution serves as president of the Senate, declined to preside over the joint meeting and opted to give a keynote address at the historically Black Zeta Phi Beta sorority’s biennial convention in Indianapolis.

Elon Musk attends joint session of Congress as guest of Netanyahu

Billionaire Elon Musk joined Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a guest for his joint address to Congress on Wednesday.

Musk confirmed when he arrived in the Capitol that he had received an invite from the prime minister to be in attendance. Netanyahu’s address was the first before Congress following the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, which ignited a war in Gaza.

The tech billionaire sat near Netanyahu’s wife, Sara Netanyahu.

The SpaceX executive had traveled to Israel in November in the wake of the Hamas attack. During his trip, he traveled to Kibbutz Kfar Gaza, a community on Israel’s border with Gaza where Hamas had caused devastating terrorism.

“Benjamin Netanyahu was snubbed by the President, Vice President, and tens of Congressional Democrats. Meanwhile, Elon Musk steps up,” a social media user said in reaction to Musk’s appearance.

Vice President Kamala Harris, who normally presides over a joint session with foreign leaders, opted to give a keynote address at the historically black Zeta Phi Beta sorority’s biennial convention in Indianapolis instead of attending Netanyahu’s address. Her appearance in Indiana coincides with Sen. J.D. Vance’s (R-OH), Republican vice presidential candidate, campaigning in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

President Joe Biden was absent from the prime minister’s address but will be delivering a speech tonight on his decision to end his bid for reelection in November. Netanyahu will be meeting with Biden on Thursday and then with former President Donald Trump on Friday at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.

While attending the address, Musk corrected the record with reporters about a Wall Street Journal report about his monthly donations of $45 million toward 2024 election efforts.

Trump had touted this report at a Michigan rally earlier this week, saying Musk was donating “$45 million a month” to his campaign.

“At no point did I say that I was going to put $45 million a month to Trump. That was a fiction made up by the Wall Street Journal,” Musk denied the report Wednesday while on Capitol Hill.

Musk added that he planned to spend his “money on ensuring election integrity” and wanted “free and fair elections.”

He was also asked by Capitol Hill reporters whether he would still fight social media mogul Mark Zuckerberg.

“I will fight Zuckerberg any place, any time, any rule,” Musk responded.

Trump had touted this report at a Michigan rally earlier this week, saying Musk was donating “$45 million a month” to his campaign. “At no point did I say that I was going to put $45 million a month to Trump. Hollywood cheers ascension of Kamala Harris after Clooney pressure to oust Biden

Celebrities were quick to praise President Joe Biden after he announced he will not be running in November’s presidential election while cheering the endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democratic nomination.

“Vote for the candidate who will both honor & further his legacy: Kamala Harris,” Star Wars actor Mark Hamill said in a post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

He added the alliterative hashtag #HamillHeartsHarris.

Documentary filmmaker Ken Burns also praised Biden’s endorsement of Harris.

“History recognizes actions that are bigger than self,” Burns said.

“She’s ready for this fight and I’m excited to help her in any way I can,” singer John Legend also said of Harris.

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis was thrilled by Biden’s stepping aside for Harris

“I support wholeheartedly @joebiden and his decision to step down and to endorse unreservedly @kamalaharris. SHE IS TRUSTED AND TESTED and she is a fierce advocate for women’s rights and people of color and her message is one of HOPE and UNITY for America at her time of great national divide,” she said on Sunday.

Singer Barbra Streisand said in a post on X that Biden would “go down in history as a man who accomplished significant achievements in his four-year term.”

“There is nothing more important for our country than defeating Donald Trump at the ballot box,” actor Robert DeNiro responded.

British singer and songwriter Charli XCX, who recently released her album brat, which debuted at No. 3 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart last month, also tweeted, “Kamala IS brat.”

The tweet went viral, and by Monday afternoon, Harris’s campaign had created social media account banners and posts that played off the singer’s brat album cover.

Jayapal calls Biden ‘remarkable’ president who made ‘selfless’ decision

Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), chairwoman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, praised President Joe Biden for his “selfless decision” to step aside and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democratic nomination for president in the 2024 election.

“He made the decision to endorse Vice President Harris who is the only person that tens of millions of people have already voted for as vice president,” the congresswoman said.

The Washington Democrat added, “The president is — has done so much for our country. We owe him a deep debt of gratitude.”

Jayapal called Harris “remarkably accomplished” and that Biden helped with sending out the “marching orders” in support of her. She also warned that Harris would get hit with a lot of “misogynist, sexist, and racist attacks.”

Jayapal had a conversation with Harris on Sunday and shared that the vice president is “ready.”

“Well, she’s ready. She’s ready. She’s ready to win this for us in November. She’s serious. She knows it’s a big fight before us,” she said. “She knows that she has to work to put together the coalition that Joe Biden put together in 2020 to win. We need every voter, you know? We need the Nikki Haley voters, but let me be clear. We need progressive voters. We need our base. We need black folks. We need brown folks. We need young people. We need our entire progressive coalition.”

The progressive congresswoman was asked about the Republicans pushing for Biden to step down as president and ripped the effort.

“It is so ridiculous,” Jayapal said. “They should be calling on their nominee, a convicted felon, a rambling, incoherent guy who wants to be a dictator on day one. They should call on him to step down, and every pundit hounding us, they should be hounding every Republican to call on Donald Trump to step down as their nominee.”

Jayapal was also asked who she believed should run with Harris on the Democratic ticket.

“I think she needs to have somebody who can appeal to, you know, a wide swath of people as she does, and so I think that’s going to be important,” she said.

She explained that the vice president pick for Harris would need to help with positioning her as way to appeal to the “working class agenda.”

JD Vance book Hillbilly Elegy skyrockets on video streaming and stores’ backorder lists

Sen. J.D. Vance‘s (R-OH) bestselling memoir, Hillbilly Elegy, has exploded in book sales, alongside the movie, which is based on his book, sitting atop streaming services’ trending lists following former President Donald Trump naming the senator as his 2024 running mate.

Vance’s memoir, published by HarperCollins, shares his tough upbringing of living in poverty in the Appalachians.

The 2020 film adaptation of his memoir, directed by Ron Howard and starring Glenn Close and Amy Adams, has surged in video streaming views by 1,180%, according to research firm Luminate. By Wednesday, the film ranked fourth-most streamed movie on Netflix.

His memoir in paperback form has remained #1 on Amazon‘s bestselling books chart and his hardback copy has been No. 2 on the list since Tuesday. The book has also been a part of Amazon’s Prime Day Deals this week. Vance’s paperback was discounted from $17.99 to $7.45, and the Kindle version’s deal was down to $13.49 from $17.99 for a limited time during Prime Day.

While Amazon continues to sell a rapid number of Vance’s books, some bookstores have noted they are having trouble keeping up with the demand.

“I have already had a demand for Hillbilly Elegy before my doors opened this AM. Overnight this book has just become very popular and already is on back order at the publisher,” the Little Green Bookstore in Zelienope, Pennsylvania, wrote on its Facebook page. “I have had multiple calls this AM. I sold all the used copies I had in stock but will check my inventory for more. My order is in with publisher and they expect to ship after July 20.”

“Unless a seller has already had stock – this will be [the] case for any bookseller so please be patient with us. in the meantime, if you have a copy and would like to donate to store – we will certainly ensure it gets into a readers hands,” the bookstore added.

Trump Jr. tears into MSNBC: ‘Even 48 hours later, you couldn’t wait with your lies’

Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of the former president, ripped into an MSNBC reporter on Monday at the Republican National Convention when asked about family celebrations on U.S.-Mexico border.

“I covered the family separation crisis closely, will we continue to see policies like separating 5,000 children deliberately from their parents?” MSNBC reporter Jacob Soboroff asked Trump on the floor of the convention.

“You mean the Obama administration?” the former president’s son asked the reporter while he was standing next to his brother Eric.

Soboroff asked Trump if his father, if reelected, would launch a “second family separation” policy.

“Just get out of here,” he told the reporter with a hand gesture to move on.

Ana Navarro says Trump’s ‘white wack job’ shooter was not a drag queen, an immigrant, or liberal woman

The Views Ana Navarro said Monday that the 20-year-old shooter involved in the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump was not a drag queen, an immigrant, or “a pissed-off liberal woman.”

“Today is a day, I think, and an entire time for self-reflection and a call to unity. I truly hope Donald Trump uses the platform he has to do that, and I also need to say I hope that at some point in this country we do have a conversation about what is happening because we can’t just react when it is our side,” Navarro said about the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks.

She continued, “What was this again? It was, you know, a 20-year-old lone wolf, white wack job with easy access to a gun, and we have to have [[a] conversation about that because it wasn’t a drag queen. It wasn’t an immigrant. It wasn’t a pissed-off liberal woman, and this keeps happening.

“And we need to react not as Left or Right, not as Republicans or Democrats, but we need to react as Americans, and we need to ask better,” Navarro said.

Co-host Joy Behar added that the shooter had “bought 50 rounds of ammunition from a local gun store hours before the rally.”

“Shouldn’t that have been reported?” Behar asked. “Somebody buys — a 20-year-old white guy. We’ve seen that many times now. Young white men with guns and nobody reported that he bought 50 rounds of ammunition?”

Co-host Sara Haines called out the Secret Service not checking one nearby building as “a very blatant oversight of some form.”

Haines went on to share that the assassination attempt felt “like another time” in history.

“When you mentioned this seems of another place like this doesn’t happen in America, I feel like this seems like another time because most of us have only read about assassinations or attempts in history,” Haines said.

Behar pushed back on Haines about the timeline of assassination attempts in American history.

“Well, I was there for all of them,” the 81-year-old television host chimed in, adding a joke about her age, “including Lincoln.”

Haines backtracked, saying the 1960s was rife with “these sort of things.”

Behar continued to fact-check Haines about American history.

“To say this doesn’t happen in America is false. It happened in your lifetime to Reagan and Gerald Ford — there were attempted attacks on his life,” Behar said.

Haines, who was born in 1977, insisted the examples Behar gave happened “a very long time ago.”

There were multiple assassination attempts on President Gerald Ford in September 1975, two years before Haines was born. President Ronald Reagan was injured after speaking at the Washington Hilton hotel, when John Hinckley Jr. shot him in 1981, which was when Haines was 4 years old.

Navarro then jumped in to correct Haines.

“Sara, just in the last seven years, Steve Scalise,” she pushed back, referencing the Republican congressman from Louisiana who was shot and seriously wounded in 2017 during a practice for that year’s Congressional Baseball Game.

Co-host Sunny Hostin added, “Gabby Giffords.”

Haines then pivoted to celebrating President Joe Biden’s “unifying message” about recognizing that political violence has no place in this country.

Navarro also said that she was happy that the former president was “safe” and that she condemned all forms of political violence. She shared that she had fled political violence in Nicaragua, and it’s “not supposed to happen in America.”

Ellen DeGeneres ‘done’ with fame, calling her Netflix special ‘the last time you’re going to see me’

Comedian Ellen DeGeneres has reached a breaking point with Hollywood and plans to say goodbye to the entertainment business after her Netflix special.

The former daytime talk show host shared her future plans during a Q&A session with the audience while on her farewell tour, Ellen’s Last Stand…Up, in Santa Rosa, California.

“Will we see you on Broadway or movies?” a fan asked the comedian.

“Um, no,” DeGeneres said bluntly. “This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”

When another fan encouraged the Hollywood star to voice the character Dory again in a new Pixar film:

“No, I’m going bye-bye, remember?” she said.

Following the hourlong Santa Rosa show on July 2, DeGeneres abruptly canceled four shows in July and August for Dallas, San Francisco, Seattle, and Chicago. She is still slated to make stops in Austin, Texas; San Francisco; Boston; Washington, D.C.; Philadelphia; North Carolina; Nashville, Tennessee; Minneapolis; and Toronto this summer.

The former host of The Ellen DeGeneres Show became the target of a bombshell report by Buzzfeed News in 2020 that interviewed 36 former employees and accused her of having a toxic work environment, as well as alleging sexual misconduct among staff and improper behaviors on the show. She issued a memo in July 2020 apologizing to her staff, but the slew of poor workplace culture reports led DeGeneres to announce the end of her show in 2021, airing the final episode in May 2022.

“I got kicked out of show business for being mean,” DeGeneres told the crowd in Santa Rosa.

The comedian added, “I used to say, ‘I don’t care what people say about me.’ Now I realize I said that during the height of my popularity.”

Just months before the report, DeGeneres received the Carol Burnett Award at the Golden Globes for her work on television in January 2020.

“I can be demanding and impatient and tough. I am a strong woman. … I am many things, but I am not mean,” the celebrity said during her stand-up show.

Before the blistering 2020 report, DeGeneres was a beloved star who was known for iconic dance moves on her show, witty banter with celebrities, and humorous celeb selfies, which made her a household favorite.

The 66-year-old star started her stand-up comedy career in the early 1980s and was named Showtime’s funniest person in America in 1984. She became a stand-up regular on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and starred in various movies, including Coneheads (1993), EDtv (1999), Finding Nemo (2003), and Finding Dory (2016).

DeGeneres starred in her own ABC television sitcom Ellen (1994-1998) and was dubbed the “female Seinfeld.” At the height of her show’s popularity in 1997, she came out as a lesbian on her show and in an interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show. In 2003, DeGeneres launched her daytime television talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Witness testimony begins in Alec Baldwin’s Rust shooting trial thumbnail

Witness testimony begins in Alec Baldwin’s Rust shooting trial

Opening statements began Wednesday in the involuntary manslaughter trial of actor Alec Baldwin nearly three years after he fatally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the New Mexico set of the film Rust.

The defense and prosecution began cross-examination of the trial’s first witnesses including law enforcement witnesses.

The first witness cross-examined by defense attorney Alex Spiro was Santa Fe, New Mexico, officer Nicholas Lefleur, whose body camera footage captured several members of the film crew gathered around Baldwin following the incident discussing what happened to Hutchins and the director, Joel Souza.

In the body camera footage that jurors saw on Wednesday, Baldwin was seen talking to Lefleur and admitting that he was “holding the gun.”

Defense attorney Alex Spiro told jurors that Baldwin believed the gun was a “cold gun” — one that was unloaded and checked by safety experts working on the movie. Prosecutor Erlinda Johnson disputed Baldwin’s claim that he did not pull the trigger, accused him of playing “make-believe with a real gun,” and called on the jurors to deliver justice for the deceased cinematographer.

The second witness, retired Lt. Timoteo Benavidez, was one of the officers responding to the incident and secured the crime scene amid “roughly 200 people” on the scene. Benavidez’s body camera footage played in court showed his conversation with film armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed, who was visibly upset and crying while saying “sorry” multiple times. In March, Gutierrez-Reed was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter.

The third witness called on Wednesday was Joseph Lujan, a detective with the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office who testified seeing doctors remove “a projectile” out of Souza’s shoulder at the hospital.

Baldwin was seen in court intently watching the testimony and body camera footage evidence being shown to jurors. His wife, Hilaria, was quietly seated behind him watching the proceedings.

In June, prosecutors had made a court filing claiming that Baldwin “flouted security protocols” and was allegedly engaged in “horseplay with his gun.” The prosecution had also claimed that he had rushed the armorer “to reload and crew members to work at a faster pace.” The document said that Baldwin “was inattentive during the firearms training conducted by Ms. Gutierrez and was distracted by texting/face timing family members and making videos for his family’s enjoyment.”

He arrived in Santa Fe on Tuesday outside the courthouse, making a public scene with his wife and their youngest of seven children.

Journalist Emily Miller said the “publicity stunt” had “backfired badly” when he was seen trying to get his baby to “come to daddy” and his wife later handed off the baby to the nanny. When the child began “screaming and crying” while Baldwin’s wife walked away, the “impression of uncaring parents who used their child as a prop” made a bad impression on the media outside the trial. Some legal experts observed that the theatrics were an attempt to humanize Baldwin but bringing a child to court was “unusual.”
