Police in Washington D.C. arrested a Texas woman who allegedly traveled to Washington D.C. with a loaded firearm and made threats against former President Donald Trump.

The woman, Christina Montoya, was arrested after traveling to the nation’s capital. Law enforcement was first alerted to her threats by the Secret Service, according to a statement from the D.C. Metropolitan Police.

“Through the detectives’ investigation, 41-year-old Christina Montoya of San Antonio, Texas, was arrested and charged with carrying a pistol without a license, possession of an unregistered firearm, and threats against a former president,” police said in a statement.

Investigators said threats against the former president started on July 20. Police were able to locate the woman’s vehicle and found a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield pistol, a magazine and a gun lock after conducting a search, according to the police report.

The incident comes just weeks after Trump came millimeters away from assassination during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

In the weeks following the shooting, the Secret Service has been under intense scrutiny due to apparent security failures before and during the Pennsylvania rally. The Secret Service was aware of would-be Trump assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks at least 90 minutes before the shooting, though the rooftop from which he fired was ultimately left uncovered.

Former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle ultimately resigned after several Republican and Democrat lawmakers called for removal.

The Secret Serice has urged Trump not to hold any more outdoor rallies in the wake of the shooting, though the former president has refused. Trump recently announced plans to return to Butler for another rally in the near future.

“Through the detectives’ investigation, 41-year-old Christina Montoya of San Antonio, Texas, was arrested and charged with carrying a pistol without a license, possession of an unregistered firearm, and threats against a former president,” police said in a statement.

Investigators said threats against the former president started on July 20. Police were able to locate the woman’s vehicle and found a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield pistol, a magazine and a gun lock after conducting a search, according to the police report.

The incident comes just weeks after Trump came millimeters away from assassination during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

In the weeks following the shooting, the Secret Service has been under intense scrutiny due to apparent security failures before and during the Pennsylvania rally. The Secret Service was aware of would-be Trump assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks at least 90 minutes before the shooting, though the rooftop from which he fired was ultimately left uncovered.

Former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle ultimately resigned after several Republican and Democrat lawmakers called for removal.

Legendary rock band Aerosmith abruptly cancelled the remainder of its “Peace Out” farewell tour dates and announced their formal retirement from touring.

The Rock and Roll Hall of FamE band announced Friday that lead singer Steven Tyler would not be able to recover from a recent vocal injury. In a joint statement, Tyler’s bandmates announced that they will not continue to tour together.

“It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours. In every club, on every massive tour and at moments grand and private you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives,” the band said in a statement.

“We’ve always wanted to blow your mind when performing. As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side,” the statement continued. “Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage.”

Aerosmith was set to return to live performances in September, though a planned slate of shows is now cancelled. This includes a final upstate New York concert at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo early next year.

The award-winning band had been performing together for more than 50 years. Tyler, guitarist Joe Perry, bassist Tom Hamilton, drummer John Douglas and guitarist Brad Whitford are all in their 70’s, while drummer Joey Kramer was not scheduled to perform on the tour due to health and personal reasons.

Aerosmith’s farewell tour was initially announced in 2023, though performances were soon cancelled and rescheduled after just three shows due to a vocal injury sustained by Tyler.
