Former President Donald Trump, who was wounded during a campaign rally, was captured entering the hospital in Butler, Pennsylvania, walking unaided in a heart-stopping moment caught on camera. The unexpected sighting created a wave of relief from the onlookers in the waiting area, captured on video by an ER patient.

“We’re front row and my friend’s got blood coming out of his head,” said one onlooker in the ER. The footage from the hospital offered an extremely rare glimpse into the immediate aftermath, capturing the collective anxiety and relief of those present.

“Oh Jesus! There he is!” Exclaimed an eyewitness. “Oh my God, he’s walking!”

As Trump made his way into the hospital, visibly unaided and walking, there was a profound moment of relief for those present.

While addressing supporters in Butler Township, Trump was wounded by a gunshot that grazed his right ear. Despite the chaos, he managed to raise his fist and mouth “fight” three times as Secret Service agents swiftly escorted him to safety. The FBI is treating the harrowing ordeal as an assassination attempt and potentially an act of domestic terrorism, which tragically resulted in one fatality and left two others critically injured.

The assailant, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, was positioned on a nearby rooftop during the rally. In a swift response, he was neutralized by Secret Service snipers. The FBI’s ongoing investigation seeks to uncover the motives behind the shooting and prevent any future threats.

Three days ago, a startling attempt was made on the life of former President Donald Trump. Amid the ongoing investigation, with authorities still piecing together motives and details, the incident has mixed not only widespread concern but also deep-rooted suspicions.

Snipers were reportedly positioned within the building the shooter had ascended, a detail provided by insiders. Eyewitnesses from the event mentioned spotting the gunman atop a neighboring building before chaos unfolded. Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) voiced his thoughts on the matter during a CNN interview, suggesting the potential of a setup—a stance that CNN didn’t seem to like.

Rep. Mills, a former U.S. Army member and a respected figure in military operations, explained, “I look at all of these things and I look at different videos where an assailant will pull a firearm on a law enforcement officer and the first thing they do is they immediately pull and draw and mitigate the threat and the risk.” Rep. Mills slammed the security setup, describing the adjacent building—mere yards from the stage—as “a sniper’s paradise.”

“The amount of negligence, the amount of mistakes that were made here, I have a very difficult time not leaning myself towards this was intentional as opposed to fecklessness,” he confessed, a statement that visibly agitated CNN anchor Kate Bolduan.

“Dial it back, but do not blame this on Joe Biden!” Bolduan said.

WATCH:

Rep. Mills finished, “I have not made an accusation of something. I just want to make sure we’re covering our bases to ensure that we get a proper investigation at all levels to ensure this doesn’t happen again and that our president can be safe.”

On Tuesday the FBI launched an investigation into a local officer who reportedly confronted Trump’s would-be assassin, only to turn around and run for cover after the young man pointed his rifle in their direction. Fox News reported on the probe which centers on a member of local law enforcement staffing the Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday.

WATCH:

According to multiple media reports, an officer climbed a ladder to the adjacent rooftop where Crooks was positioned. After Crooks turned to point his AR-15 rifle at the officer, they descended the ladder and backed away from the building. He ultimately fired eight rounds from over 400 feet away, nicking Trump’s right ear before being shot and killed by a Secret Service sniper rifleman.

Sources close to the investigation told Fox News that there is “great frustration” among local officers about their indecisive colleague who may have been able to prevent a shooting that started literally seconds later. Butler County Sheriff Michael Slupe previously told a local media outlet that the responding officer ducked for cover and did not engage Crooks with his own service weapon. “The officer had both hands up on the roof to get up onto the roof, [and] never made it because the shooter had turned towards the officer, and rightfully and smart fully, the officer let go,” he told KDKA-TV.

Video from the perimeter of the rally showed multiple attendees drawing attention to Crooks as he crawled for a better vantage point. His lifeless body was also captured on camera, and a shot of his face postmortem was circulated on X in the immediate aftermath.

BREAKING: U.S. Received Intel On Iranian Plot To Assassinate Trump WEEKS Ago

BREAKING: U.S. Received Intel On Iranian Plot To Assassinate Trump WEEKS Ago

The New Atlantis

Three days have passed since the dramatic attempt on the life of former President Donald Trump rocked the nation. Eyewitnesses from the crowd reported spotting the gunman on the rooftop of an adjacent building minutes before he opened fire, and authorities are still piecing together the puzzle while searching for the motive behind the assassination attempt.

In a chilling twist revealed today, US authorities received intelligence weeks prior from a source about a potential plot orchestrated by Iran to target Trump, according to CNN. This information prompted the Secret Service to significantly bolster security measures surrounding the former president, according to several officials familiar with the situation. As the investigation unfolds, the quest for answers continues.

However, sources say there is no evidence to suggest that Thomas Matthew Crooks, who attempted to assassinate the former president last Saturday, was linked to any broader plot. Secret Service officials consistently advised the Trump campaign against the risks of outdoor rallies, which are harder to secure compared to more controlled indoor events, according to people familiar with the discussions. These warnings have generally been broad in nature, the sources added.

Due to security concerns, the campaign, at one point this election cycle, stopped organizing impromptu off-the-record events where attendees were not pre-screened by the Secret Service, a source told CNN. The FBI, leading the investigation into the shooting has not issued any comments.

“We do not comment on President Trump’s security detail. All questions should be directed to The United States Secret Service,” the Trump campaign said in a statement.

Warnings regarding operational planning have coincided with an uptick in online posts from Iranian accounts and state-backed media referencing Trump, heightening security concerns among US officials, a source informed CNN.

According to a federal law enforcement source and someone close to Mike Pompeo, the former Secretary of State was also a target in an Iranian assassination plot. There has been ongoing concern among law enforcement officials about Iran’s potential threats against former officials from the Trump administration, including the former president himself, sources familiar with the situation reported.

Recent intelligence has indicated a notable increase in these threats. There has been a significant rise in online activity from Iranian accounts and state-backed media that mention Trump, escalating security concerns, a source disclosed to CNN.

Iran in the past had escalated its threats against Trump and key members of his team, vowing payback for the 2020 elimination of their top general, Qassem Soleimani. The U.S. carried out a drone strike that killed Soleimani, who was a pivotal figure in Iran’s military strategy in the Middle East. His death was a significant blow to Iran. The threats against Trump were vocalized through various Iranian officials and state-controlled media, framing them as a form of justice or retaliation for his actions against Iran, particularly the killing of Soleimani.

News of a threat from a hostile foreign intelligence agency and increased security measures for Trump have catalyzed concerns about security failures at the Saturday rally. Questions continue to emerge about how a relatively recent high school graduate gained access to a nearby rooftop and fired shots that wounded the former president.

On Monday the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee was treated to a unique and unexpected moment when Rev. James A. Roemke, a pastor from Kenosha’s Messiah Lutheran Church, delivered an endearing impression of former President Donald Trump.

The impersonation came before Roemke’s benediction in front of Trump himself, who attended the event, which marked his first public appearance since the harrowing assassination attempt. Roemke took to the stage not just to lead the prayer but also to lighten the mood.

“It’s a great pleasure to be here,” said Roemke.”Great pleasure to see President Donald Trump safe. And if I may, before the benediction, give you this promise: You’re going to be tired of being blessed. I guarantee it.”

“You’re going to be so blessed,” Roemke said in a Trump voice. “You’re going to be tired of being blessed. I guarantee it … Believe me!” The crowd erupted in laughter and applause. The 2024 GOP nominee loved the impersonation as well, flashing an ear-to-ear grin.

WATCH:

Authorities are continuing to investigate the assassination attempt, with motives still unclear. However, Trump’s presence at the RNC showed his resilience and continued influence within the party, evidenced by the audience’s enthusiastic reception.

Three days have now passed since and investigators are still piecing together the events and searching for a possible motive. Witnesses at the rally reported seeing the gunman on the roof of an adjacent building before he opened fire, and it has since been revealed that snipers were placed inside the very building that the attacker climbed.

In the 48 hours preceding the attack, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks visited several locations in his suburban Pittsburgh neighborhood. A law enforcement official reported to CNN that on Friday, Crooks practiced shooting at a range where he held a membership. The next day, he bought a five-foot ladder from Home Depot and 50 rounds of ammunition from a gun store.

Crooks then drove his Hyundai Sonata to a rally for the 2024 Republican nominee in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he joined thousands of attendees. He had an improvised explosive device hidden in his car’s trunk, connected to a transmitter he carried. Using his newly purchased ladder, Crooks scaled a nearby building and eventually opened fire on the former president.

Investigators are now piecing together Crooks’ actions prior to the attack but are stumped by the lack of clear motives. Despite thorough searches of his digital and personal life, no political or ideological reasons have emerged. His interests appeared to center around computer coding and gaming.

A concerning discovery was a remote control detonator on Crooks and explosives in his car, suggesting he might have planned to set off an explosion as a distraction during the shooting. The weapon used was an AR-style rifle legally bought by his father, Matthew Crooks, who legally owns over 20 firearms. The investigation into how Crooks assembled the explosives in his car continues, with no evidence of him researching bomb-making online.

Crooks and his father were members of the Clairton Sportsmen’s Club, a gun club located about 25 minutes from their home where they often went shooting together. The club, which boasts approximately 2,000 members, features a 200-yard-long rifle range nestled within 180 acres of wooded hills south of Pittsburgh. The range exceeds the distance between Crooks and Trump during the shooting incident, according to CNN.

Following the incident, Crooks’ father was contacted but chose not to comment until speaking with law enforcement. His initial reaction to the news was one of confusion and a need for more information. The FBI managed to access his son’s cell phone, hoping it would provide insights into his motives, but officials remain puzzled. According to law enforcement sources, Crooks’ parents, who have been cooperating with the investigation, described their son as solitary and apolitical, noting a lack of recent awareness of his activities.

In an ABC News interview on Monday, Kimberly Cheatle, director of the Secret Service, took responsibility for the security lapses during the recent assassination attempt on Trump. “The buck stops with me,” she said when questioned about accountability for the incident.

WATCH:

When asked about the lack of security on the rooftop from which the attack was carried out, Cheatle explained that the rooftop in question had a sloped peak, which posed safety concerns for positioning an agent there.

“That building in particular has a sloped roof at it’s highest point and so, you know, there’s a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof and so, you know, the decision was made to secure the building from the inside,” Cheatle said.

BREAKING: Verdict In Senator Bob Menendez’s Bribery Trial Is Revealed thumbnail

BREAKING: Verdict In Senator Bob Menendez’s Bribery Trial Is Revealed

The New Atlantis

A New Jersey jury has reached a verdict in the bribery trial of Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) after approximately 13 hours of deliberation over three days. Sen. Menendez, a long-serving New Jersey Democrat, faced a multitude of serious allegations brought by federal prosecutors in New York.

Early in the afternoon on Tuesday, Menendez was found guilty on all counts.

The charges against him included bribery, fraud, acting as a foreign agent, and obstruction. Federal prosecutors had accused him of accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of bribes — including cash, gold bars, and mortgage payments — in return for leveraging his political influence.

The recipients of his favors included three New Jersey businessmen and the governments of Egypt and Qatar. Despite his pleas of not guilty to the 16 federal charges, the jury’s decision was unanimous.

In a dramatic account delivered to jurors last week, federal prosecutor Paul M. Monteleoni detailed the extensive evidence discovered during an FBI raid on the New Jersey residence of Menendez. According to Monteleoni, agents found numerous envelopes filled with cash, bags brimming with bills, and even cash hidden in the senator’s jackets and boots. Additionally, they seized gold bars valued at thousands of dollars from his wife’s closet.

Monteleoni explained that these valuables were bribes from two businessmen seeking favors from Menendez, who had previously chaired the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. “It wasn’t enough for him to be one of the most powerful people in Washington,” Monteleoni told the jury according to The New York Times. “It wasn’t enough for him to be entrusted by the public with the power to approve billions of dollars of U.S. military aid to foreign countries.”

“No, Robert Menendez wanted all that power,” he continued. “But he also wanted to use it to pile up riches for himself and his wife. So, Menendez sold the power of his office.”

Defense attorney Adam Fee sharply criticized the government’s allegations against Menendez, dismissing them as “cherry-picked nonsense” and accusing prosecutors of “fudging” the facts according to ABC News. “The only honest verdict I submit here is to acquit him on each count,” Fee said to the jury on July 9, claiming, “His actions were lawful, normal and good for the country.”

Menendez chose not to take the stand in his own defense. After the defense concluded its arguments on July 3, Menendez spoke briefly to the media, stating, “From my perspective, the government has failed to prove every aspect of its case.”

Accusations first suggested that Menendez accepted gold bars and other forms of cash from three New Jersey businessmen in exchange for various political favors. The businessmen implicated in the case were involved in sectors that would benefit from federal influence, including Medicare. Menendez used his influence to interfere in federal investigations, advocate for business interests in Egypt, and manipulate visa applications.

The scandal first came to light when federal prosecutors presented evidence suggesting that Menendez had stored the gold bars in a safe deposit box, a detail that became a focal point in the allegations against him. This case adds to the prior legal challenges faced by Menendez, who was previously indicted in 2015 for different corruption charges, although those charges were eventually dismissed after a mistrial.

Matt Gaetz Nearly Fights Ex-Speaker Kevin McCarthy at RNC

Matt Gaetz Nearly Fights Ex-Speaker Kevin McCarthy at RNC

The New Atlantis

As the Republican National Convention rolls into its second day, the political spectacle has offered more than just policy discussions. The convention took an unexpected turn towards high drama on Tuesday when Florida Representative Matt Gaetz, known for his fiery rhetoric and staunch Trump loyalty, interrupted former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) during a live interview.

“What night are you speaking? Are you speaking tonight?” Gaetz said while interupting McCarthy’s live interview. “Hey, if you took that stage, you would get booed off of it! You would get booed off the stage.”

McCarthy, who has navigated turbulent political waters this year, seemed increasingly out of sync during the debacle. The altercation was even caught live on CNN.

(YOURS FREE: Trump 2024 “Still Standing” Flag With Iconic New Imagery)

Gaetz and McCarthy’s relationship has been a rollercoaster of political alliances and conflicts. Gaetz, a firebrand conservative from Florida, has long been a vocal and contentious figure within the Republican Party, known for his loyalty to Trump and his penchant for media spotlight.

WATCH:

Initially, Gaetz supported McCarthy’s bid for Speaker of the House, seeing him as a potentially pliable leader who could be influenced by the party’s right-wing. However, the relationship began to sour as Gaetz perceived McCarthy as insufficiently supportive of the more conservative agenda and too willing to compromise with Democrats and the more moderate elements within their own party. Gaetz’s disillusionment was not unique, echoing the sentiments of other hard-liners who believed McCarthy was not doing enough to advance conservative priorities.

The tension reached a boiling point when McCarthy struggled to secure his position as Speaker. Despite multiple rounds of voting, McCarthy could not initially garner the necessary support, primarily due to opposition from Gaetz and a small but influential group of far-right Republicans.

Gaetz’s criticism of McCarthy became more public and scathing. He accused McCarthy of being a weak leader, incapable of steering the party or effectively countering the Democratic agenda. For Gaetz and like-minded colleagues, ousting McCarthy was seen as necessary to redirect the party’s trajectory more sharply to the right. They believed that by removing McCarthy, they could install a Speaker who was more aligned with their ideological views and more resistant to compromise.

Ultimately, McCarthy’s ousting was a dramatic moment that showed the volatile nature of internal politics. It also marked a significant victory for Gaetz and the conservative faction.

This week, prominent figures such as former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy are slated to speak, each hoping to capture some of the fervor that Trump stirred in his groundbreaking 2015 campaign. The convention has been building up to Trump’s nomination acceptance speech on Thursday.

With key speeches and the much-anticipated address by Trump himself still to come, the GOP hopes to harness this energy into a compelling narrative for voters.

Microsoft Lays Off Entire DEI Team: ‘No Longer Business Critical’ thumbnail

Microsoft Lays Off Entire DEI Team: ‘No Longer Business Critical’

The New Atlantis

Microsoft has made a notable change in its corporate structure: the major company is dismantling its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) team. A team leader declared the initiatives “no longer needed,” leading to layoffs within the group. The exact number of affected employees remains undisclosed, and the identity of the team leader who sent the email has not been revealed.

“True systems-change work associated with DEI programs everywhere are no longer business critical or smart as they were in 2020,” said an email sent to thousands of employees, obtained by Business Insider. The email stated that the DEI team was eliminated because of “changing business needs” as of July 1.

“Unofficially in my opinion, not specific to Microsoft alone, but [conservative policy plan] Project 2025 looms and true systems change work associated with DEI programs everywhere are no longer business critical or smart as they were in 2020. Hence the purposeful and strategic 3-5 year shelf life of many company’s inclusion commitments post the murder of George Floyd are being reevaluated,” the email explained.

“And the way I see it, the timing was impeccable so businesses everywhere could reevaluate the path forward should their U.S. federal contracts be at risk if the work continues on its face.”

The email does commend the DEI teams at Microsoft, by stating “impossible mountains were moved” and calling them “brilliant, ethical, and world class strategists at the company, helping to make the world a better place.” Despite these accolades, the email also leveled serious accusations against the executive leadership, alleging they were subject to “investigated and evidenced discrimination, harassment, and toxicity” while at the company.

In a statement to Business Wire, spokesperson Jeff Jones said, “Our D&I commitments remain unchanged. Our focus on diversity and inclusion is unwavering and we are holding firm on our expectations, prioritizing accountability, and continuing to focus on this work.”

Microsoft’s approach to DEI was been notably impacted by the events following the death of George Floyd. Following Floyd’s death, Microsoft managed its commitment to DEI by announcing several initiatives and goals aimed at addressing racial injustice and promoting diversity within its workforce. The company pledged to double the number of Black and African American managers, senior individual contributors, and senior leaders in the U.S. by 2025.

This was part of an initiative where Microsoft committed an additional $150 million to strengthen its diversity and inclusion efforts. Microsoft also focused on transparency by releasing detailed diversity reports. These reports provided data on the racial and gender makeup of its workforce.

Last year, however, Microsoft revealed its plan to lay off 10,000 employees, following the trend of significant job cuts in the tech industry as Silicon Valley faced a ‘tech wreck.’ This month, the company implemented another round of layoffs, marking the latest workforce reduction for the tech giant. The recent layoffs affected various teams and locations, but Microsoft has not disclosed the exact number of employees impacted.

In June, Microsoft eliminated approximately 1,000 positions across the company, including jobs in its Azure cloud division and HoloLens mixed-reality team. In January, Microsoft’s gaming unit saw nearly 2,000 job cuts according to GeekWire.

NEW: Would-Be Trump Assassin’s Bone-Chilling Nickname From High School Is Revealed

The New Atlantis

Last Saturday, 20-year-old Thomas Crooks fired an AR-style rifle barely missing former President Donald Trump. The bullet grazed Trump, an incident that led to his appearance at the Republican National Convention on Monday with a bandaged ear. Amidst roaring chants of “fight” from the audience—a sentiment echoed by Trump himself after the attack—Crooks’ attempt on the former president’s life was thwarted by a Secret Service sniper.

Before his violent act placed him on the grim list of attempted presidential assassins in U.S. history, Crooks had kept a low profile, seemingly blending into the background. Jim Knapp, the former guidance counselor of the gunman at Bethel Park High School in the suburbs south of Pittsburgh, described Crooks as a solitary figure during his school days.

“He just wanted to stay by himself,” Knapp recalled to The New York Times, noting that Crooks often chose to sit alone at lunch in the cafeteria, focused on his phone rather than interacting with his peers. Former classmates shared consistent memories of Crooks, painting him as an intelligent yet reclusive figure who navigated the school corridors with his head bowed and seldom participated in class discussions.

(YOURS FREE: Trump 2024 “Still Standing” Flag With Iconic New Imagery)

Despite his quiet demeanor, they affirmed that he never exhibited violent tendencies or made threats. “He didn’t want attention, good or negative,” said Julianna Grooms, 19, who first noticed Crooks during their freshman year. During their freshman year, Crooks was conspicuous in his wide-legged jeans and SpongeBob T-shirts. Grooms recalled that some students mocked him for his hygiene and his reserved demeanor.

“Those other kids would always say, ‘Hey, look at the school shooter over there!’ They would tease him about his poor hygiene, his body odor. He was an easy target,” she explained.

WATCH:

The Bethel Park School District confirmed Crooks graduated in 2022, though it withheld further details about his academic record. A video shared with TMZ captured a moment from his school days, showing classmates bothering him during a class.

In the footage, Crooks, seated at his desk, is visibly agitated as a classmate tugs at his trouser leg, prompting him to repeatedly say, “Stop, you’re pulling my leg,” while laughter can be heard from the person recording the incident.

Anna Dusch, 20, recalled sharing an Advanced Placement American government class with Crooks during their senior year, a period when classes had resumed normally following pandemic-related disruptions like virtual learning and staggered schedules. Dusch noted that Crooks was well-versed in the class material but remained private about his political leanings.

“I would’ve never known who he was voting for,” she mentioned to The Times. “He seemed to be really intelligent. If there was a fact to be said, he knew it.”

She observed that Crooks mostly kept to himself and, despite his somewhat unusual demeanor, never gave her any cause for concern. “He was a little bit odd, but I never would’ve suspected this,” Dusch added. “I don’t think any of us knew who he was.”

“Their class was so traumatized from it. All of these kids were really isolated,” noted Jill Bortz, whose son also went to the same school. “Those are the prime years. That’s not going to work for every kid, you know?”

‘Squad’ Democrat Trailing By Whopping 23 Points In Primary Race

Another progressive member of the “Squad” in Congress is in a precarious position, potentially facing a significant defeat in her upcoming primary.

Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) is trailing St. Louis prosecuting attorney Wesley Bell by a considerable margin, according to a new poll. The survey, conducted by McLaughlin & Associates for the CCA Action Fund, shows Bush with 33% support among likely voters in Missouri’s 1st Congressional District Democratic Primary on August 6. In contrast, Bell leads with 56% support.

11% of respondents are either undecided or supporting lesser-known candidates Ron Harshaw and Maria Chappelle-Nadal according to The New York Post.

The primary race is shaping up to be a critical test for Bush, whose tenure in Congress has been marked by her outspoken progressive positions and nonsensical rants. Despite her national prominence as part of the “Squad,” which includes Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Bush appears to be struggling to maintain local support.

Washington, DC – September 30, 2021: Congresswoman Cori Bush (D-MO) speaks to demonstrators at the Capitol regarding the positive effects of their activism.

According to the survey, the two-term incumbent Bush has a 50% favorability rating among registered Democrats, with 47% viewing her unfavorably. 51% of Democrats disapprove of her job performance, compared to 46% who approve.

Compared to Bush, Bell enjoys a favorable rating of 70% among respondents, with only 18% viewing him unfavorably. Pollsters pointed out that Bush’s high negative ratings among her Democratic peers present a significant challenge for her. The survey, carried out from June 28 to July 1, involved 300 likely Democratic voters through phone interviews and text messages. The margin of error for this survey is plus or minus 5.7 percentage points according to The Post.

Pastor Marc Little, spokesman for the anti-Bush CCA Action Fund, a Super PAC, criticized Cori Bush, saying, “Cori Bush has wasted her time in Congress to focus on her own fame in ‘The Squad’—while her constituents suffer. This poll proves St. Louis wants a Representative who will champion our community and its prosperity and safety, and who will defend America—not a Cori Bush who wants to tear it all down.”

Bush has come under fire for recent statements regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict. Bush, aligning with her progressive stance, has been vocal in her criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza, calling for an end to what she described as the oppression of Palestinians. She has also advocated for the U.S. to halt military aid to Israel, arguing that it supports human rights violations.

Trends haven’t faired well for ‘The Squad’ as of late.

Last month, Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) — one of the most far-left representatives in Congress and a member of the Progressive Caucus — lost his primary election to a moderate challenger. George Latimer, a Westchester County executive, defeated Bowman after a contentious primary race that was widely viewed as a fight between ideological factions of the Democratic Party.

Bowman had aligned himself with the “ceasefire now” movement, which called for the end to hostilities in the Gaza Strip and accused Israel of being complicit in genocide. Millions of dollars poured into the race from both inside and outside the district, making it the most expensive House primary in history. According to an analysis from ad tracking firm AdImpact, more than $25 million was spent overall. Roughly $15 million came from the United Democracy Project, a super PAC linked to the powerful American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), which backed Latimer.

WATCH: JD Vance Seen Departing For RNC In Motorcade, Sparking VP Speculation

The New Atlantis

In the buildup to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) was spotted departing his Cincinnati, Ohio home in a motorcade, fueling widespread speculation about his potential nomination as the Vice Presidential candidate.

The motorcade, typical of increased security measures, was seen just as the Republican National Committee is set to formally nominate former President Donald Trump for another White House run. The heightened activity around Vance’s residence comes in the wake of an assassination attempt on Trump just two days prior, an event that has reinvigorated the former president and his campaign.

Trump, speaking with Bret Baier on Fox News, revealed he would announce his running mate on Monday, adding more anticipation to the convention’s proceedings. “Yes, we’re going to get the VP today,” said Baier. “And he said there’s other things to come. I don’t know what that means.”

The focus on Vance intensified after vehicles, possibly belonging to the Secret Service, were observed at his home. While Republican Ohio Governor Mike DeWine attributed the increased security to standard protocol following the assassination attempt, insiders suggest it could also be part of preparations for Vance’s potential nomination.

WATCH:

Among the names in the ‘veepstakes’ are Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum (R-ND) who also remain contenders. Each brings substantial political clout and loyalty to Trump, with Burgum notably gaining the admiration of former First Lady Melania Trump for his positive campaigning and substantial fundraising abilities. However, sources close to Trump indicate his reservations about whether any of the candidates can offer something he cannot bring himself.

The odds for Trump’s vice-presidential pick lead with JD Vance at +110, followed closely by Doug Burgum at +138. Marco Rubio comes next with odds of +800 according to Oddschecker.

The former president is reportedly looking for a candidate who can guarantee absolute loyalty, a trait he felt was lacking in his former Vice President Mike Pence during the 2020 election certification process. This desire for unwavering support has been somewhat evident in Vance’s recent actions and statements. The Ohio Senator has vigorously defended Trump, accusing Democrats and liberal media of creating a hostile environment that led to the recent assassination attempt. MSNBC, for instance, replaced its regular programming with live updates on Monday, reflecting the network’s new cautious approach to the sensitive situation.

As speculation mounts, Vance’s visibility and vocal support for Trump on various platforms, including significant appearances during Trump’s trials and his proactive defense strategies on the campaign trail, have positioned him as a strong candidate for the VP slot. His stance on key issues like the funding for Ukraine, which he claims contains provisions against Trump’s policies, aligns closely with Trump’s ‘America First’ philosophy.

The speaker lineup is set with events kicking off in the early afternoon under the guidance of Michael Whatley, the Republican National Committee Chairman. The day will start with the formal adoption of the party’s new platform, followed by nominating and seconding speeches for Trump by the chairmen of the Iowa and Nevada parties. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) will oversee a roll-call vote. The evening’s prime-time events will commence at 6 p.m. CST.
