Tiger Woods Opens Up On President Trump’s Brush With Death: ‘Didn’t Sleep At All’

The New Atlantis

On Saturday during his campaign rally near Butler, Pennsylvania, former President Donald Trump suffered a gunshot wound to his right ear. The assailant, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, fired eight rounds from an AR-15-style rifle from a building approximately 400 feet away from the stage.

The shock of the assassination attempt reverberated across the nation affecting Americans from all walks of life, including high-profile figures like Tiger Woods. As Woods landed at Royal Troon earlier in the week, the gravity of the event was palpable of how deeply such national crises can impact even those far removed from the political arena.

Woods had been following news of the incident during his flight. Instead of arriving refreshed for a Sunday practice round ahead of this week’s 152nd Open Championship at the Scottish links, the 48-year-old shared with BBC Sport, “I didn’t accomplish a lot because I wasn’t in the right frame of mind.”

“It was a long night [because of the assassination attempt] and that’s all we watched the entire time on the way over here,” Woods said. “I didn’t sleep at all on the flight, and then we just got on the golf course.”

The attack not only wounded Trump, who is to be the Republican candidate, but also resulted in the death of audience member Corey Comperatore, and left two others critically injured. Crooks was subsequently killed by a counter-sniper team from the U.S. Secret Service.

Both Woods and Trump are avid golfers, and this shared passion has been a significant foundation of their relationship. Trump owns several golf courses, and Woods has played at Trump-owned courses on multiple occasions. Their golfing encounters have often been public and well-covered by the media.

In the past Trump has publicly praised Woods on several occasions, particularly highlighting his skills and contributions to the sport of golf. After Woods won the Masters in 2019, Trump tweeted his congratulations and later awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom, one of the highest civilian awards in the United States. During the ceremony, Trump described Woods as a “true legend” and “global symbol of American excellence, devotion, and drive.”

WATCH:

The awarding of the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Woods by President Trump in May 2019 was also a significant moment in their relationship. The medal was awarded in recognition of Woods’ contributions to golf and his comeback in the sport after personal and physical challenges.

Woods has faced criticism for his association with Trump, however, particularly from those who opposed Trump’s policies and presidency. However, Woods has typically avoided political commentary and maintained that his relationship with Trump is based on golf and personal interactions rather than politics. In 2018, when asked about his relationship with Trump, Woods emphasized respect for the office of the president and noted that he had known Trump for many years, even before he became president.

JUST IN: Secret Service Whistleblowers Reveal Security Failures To House Judiciary

The New Atlantis

Five days after the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, the motive behind the attack remains unknown. The U.S. Secret Service has been under the microscope for its handling of security at the event. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) announced today that whistleblowers have come forward, revealing significant security lapses at Trump’s campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

According to the whistleblowers, the Secret Service was stretched thin due to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit and First Lady Jill Biden’s event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, resulting in inadequate resources for Trump’s event.

These agencies reportedly missed several vulnerabilities before and during the rally, which allowed the assassin to shoot the former president, kill an attendee, and critically injure two others. Jordan sent a letter to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray, demanding that he be fully prepared to address the Committee’s questions about the attempted assassination and the FBI’s investigation during his upcoming testimony on Wednesday, July 24.

The letter, addressed to Director Wray, stated, “Information provided to this Committee raises serious questions about the thoroughness of the security planning by local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in support of President Trump’s campaign rally. Law enforcement overlooked a number of vulnerabilities prior to and during the event in Butler, Pennsylvania, allowing an assassin to shoot a President, murder an attendee, and critically wound two others. This tragedy demands a full and transparent investigation.”

Jordan’s letter lists several critical questions for Wray to answer. These include the number of FBI personnel dedicated to the investigation, coordination with other agencies, the security of buildings around the event, and specific timelines regarding the shooter’s identification and the police response.

Additional questions focus on the FBI’s evaluation of the shooter’s activities, the scope of the investigation, resource constraints due to other events, communication breakdowns between law enforcement entities, and the actions taken by the Secret Service to protect Trump once the threat was known. The Committee gave Wray until July 23 to provide the requested materials.

Tensions within both parties have escalated as the race to election days draws near. White House Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle faced a tough confrontation with Republican senators at the RNC in Milwaukee on Wednesday night. Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and John Barrasso (R-WY) demanded answers regarding the agency’s failure to prevent an attempted assassination of Trump. The senators accused Cheatle of “stonewalling” and insist that she owed answers to the public and Trump.

Cheatle has defended the decision not to place an agent on the roof, citing its slope as an impractical vantage point. However, the FBI is investigating why a local police officer failed to intercept Thomas Matthew Crooks, who roamed a nearby warehouse for an hour before the shooting.

Republicans have promised further oversight hearings, while Cheatle has refused to resign. Trump, who was grazed by one of the bullets, credited his Secret Service agents for saving his life. Trump was later seen at the convention with an all-male Secret Service team for this week’s convention. Crooks’ motives remain unclear, with neighbors describing him as a loner dissatisfied with politicians from both parties.

NEW: Local Officer Radioed ‘Blanket Tactical Channel’ About Shooter On Rooftop

The New Atlantis

On Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania, a local police officer faced a critical situation when he encountered the gunman on a rooftop aiming at former President Donald Trump. The confrontation, described by Butler’s town manager Tom Knights, unfolded rapidly. In an interview with NBC News’ Stephanie Gosk, Knights detailed the officer’s actions and the intense moments that followed.

“One of our officers was actually boosted up to the roof by another, and when he pulled himself up, he did in fact see an individual on the roof with a weapon.” This sighting set off a series of responses as the officers realized the immediate threat to the former president.

“He saw the shooter?” asked Gosk. “He did,” Knights confirmed. “Turned towards him, had the barrel of his weapon pointed at the officer.” At this critical time, the officer was clinging to the roof’s edge unable to draw his weapon or access his radio.

The situation escalated as the officer made a split-second decision. “Strictly a defensive movement for him to lower his head, duck, and ultimately he lost his grip, falling about eight feet to the ground,” Knights explained. This fall resulted in injuries. The alert was broadcast over a “blanket tactical channel,” ensuring all units were aware of the immediate danger.

WATCH:

However, the timing between the radio alert and the actual shooting attempt remains unclear, a detail that investigators are still trying to determine. “How much time between that radio communication and the gun being fired at the former president?” asked Gosk.

“I don’t have that information,” Knights said.

“Once the suspicious individual was identified as being in the vicinity of the AGR building, our police, who were primarily assigned to traffic duty and traffic control, did in fact, because of proximity, move towards that building to try to find and identify,” Knights explained in a separate interview.

Saturday’s tragic incident sparked a blame game among various law enforcement agencies over security lapses at the building utilized by the assailant. While the Secret Service has pointed fingers at local authorities, it has refrained from naming specific agencies involved.

“There has, to the best of my knowledge, not been any direct communication with members of the Secret Service to our officials,” he continued. “There are ongoing interviews with all law enforcement that were at the event, regardless of what their roles were.”

WATCH:

Knights also touched on the community’s reaction and the intense scrutiny the police force faced following the incident. “I think our law enforcement did exactly what training taught them to do, and they did their job. How subsequent events played out, that’s another thing for what I hope to be a really complete report on the incident to educate everybody.”

Kimberly Cheatle, the Director of the Secret Service, has acknowledged her responsibility for the security breach during an assassination attempt on Trump but indicated she does not intend to resign. In response, Republican members of Congress have summoned her to testify next week. FBI technicians at their Quantico, Virginia lab are examining the gunman’s texts, emails, and additional data to uncover motives.

WATCH: CBS Host Gayle King Admits She Was Inspired By Trump’s Incredible Entrance At RNC

The New Atlantis

Just days after a near-fatal assassination attempt, former President Donald Trump made a surprising and emotional entrance at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Monday. Sporting a white bandage on his right ear—a vivid reminder of the recent peril he had faced—Trump captivated attendees as he stepped into the arena. Scheduled to deliver his main address later in the week, his early appearance set a powerful tone for the event.

The former president’s presence was a deeply moving moment for many, including CBS host Gayle King. She admitted to being genuinely moved by Trump’s entrance. “I felt the emotion sitting in my bedroom coming through the TV screen,” King shared with her co-host Tony Dokoupil during a broadcast. “I can’t imagine what it was like on the floor.”

Dokoupil, who was at the event, described the atmosphere as “electric” similar to a pop concert filled with an intense mix of concern and elation from the audience. “I was in the box directly next to the president’s: it was electric there for the Trump faithful.”

“People were notably hushed at the first sight of the former president, then cheering, then chanting, including ‘Fight, fight,’ the words that Trump himself seemed to say moments after he was wounded on Saturday,” Dokoupil explained.

WATCH:

Trump’s appearance, marked by a stark white bandage, not only conveyed the gravity of Saturday’s events but also his demeanor. Although somber, the 2024 frontrunner exuded a powerful message of perseverance. Country artist Lee Greenwood introduced the former president before performing a live rendition of “God Bless The USA” as Trump made his entrance.

A visibly emotional Trump entered to chants of “We love Trump” and “USA,” stopping to shake hands with members of his family, as well as key allies such as Tucker Carlson and Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), before taking his position next to his new running mate, Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH).

WATCH:

“Prayer works. This nation based on faith, prayer works,” Greenwood said while introducing the former president. “Because he was sure as Donald Trump turned his head just slightly that the bullet missed him just enough to save his life to be the next President of the United States. We have believed for so long that God will make some changes in this country, and he’s about to make a change in the current administration and send them home.”

Thank you everybody for being here tonight. Tonight we make the decision on what’s right for America. more prosperity, less gas prices, less food prices, help for our veterans, and God bless our military wherever they are in this United States. And abroad, there would be no war if there wasn’t anyone. President Trump was president, and he would have been president of the United States, Donald J. Trump.”

Cheers continued well into the next speaker’s address, who took a step back as the crowd continued to chant “We love Trump!” The former president is set to deliver his main address on Thursday. He reportedly scrapped his initial address in favor of a new one in the wake of the assassination attempt.

JUST IN: Chilling New Video Shows Shooter ‘Lurking’ Near Rally Stage Before Event

The New Atlantis

Four days following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump during his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, investigators are still piecing together the shooter’s motives. Trump, still recovering, was seen with a bandage over his ear while attending the Republican National Convention on Tuesday.

New footage provided to Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 has shed light on the activities of 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks before the incident. Captured by an individual who chose to remain anonymous, the video recorded on Saturday shows Crooks in the vicinity of the event an hour before the shooting began. The man, who initially aimed to document the crowd size, inadvertently recorded what would soon become a critical piece of the investigation.

The footage reveals Crooks lingering near a building just outside the secured perimeter of the event. As the camera pans across the scene, several law enforcement vehicles can be seen facing the building. When the video shifts back towards the building, Crooks is visible once more, suggesting he had been in the area for over an hour before the gunfire erupted.

“When I saw the video last night, when I was going back through my my video clips and saw him, I was chilled to the point where I couldn’t fall asleep right away,” said the individual who recorded the video. “I didn’t sleep well. There’s – there’s something. Something really went wrong with this.”

WATCH:

Fox News reported on Wednesday that both parents are cooperating with the FBI as they spearhead the search for a motive behind Crooks’ deadly shooting, but what they exactly told authorities in advance remains uncertain. The parents of the 20-year-old reportedly pleaded with local authorities to find their son shortly before he positioned himself on the roof and attempted to shoot and kill former President.

The disturbed recent high school graduate was able to fire off eight rounds from a high-caliber rifle he stole from his father before being shot and killed. The Bureau is also investigating why a local police officer backed away from Crooks seconds before the shooting started while Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has defended the agency’s decision not to place an agent on the roof where Crooks was able to obtain a direct line of sight to the stage where Trump was standing.

WATCH:

The picture of Crooks’ motive became murkier after neighbors told Fox News that Crooks’ household never placed a Trump yard sign out front, refuting earlier claims that Crooks lived in a pro-Trump household. Neighbor Amy, who declined to give her last name, spoke with the press alongside Holly, a local GOP captain, saying “I give out the signs, and I’ve never given to that house, I’ll tell you that.”

Despite being a registered Republican, Crooks most recently made a small donation to a progressive political action committee supporting President Joe Biden’s reelection. “I walk by here all the time, other neighbors do,” Amy added. “You will not find one neighbor that will confirm or ever say they saw those signs in the yard.”

Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old firefighter, was shot and killed while trying to protect his family during the attempted assassination. Additionally, two other individuals were seriously injured in the attack.

NEW: John Deere Caves, Slashes DEI After Conservatives Expose Woke Nonsense

The New Atlantis

John Deere, a longstanding leader in the agricultural sector, has decided to streamline its focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, opting to redirect its efforts toward core business practices and direct customer feedback.

The shift in policy was announced on Tuesday, amidst larger corporate moves to recalibrate DEI strategies that align more tightly with business objectives. The company had recently faced backlash from its customer base due to its implementation of DEI policies following similar reactions toward other companies like Chick-fil-A and Tractor Supply.

“John Deere was founded in America’s heartland nearly 200 years ago by an entrepreneur deeply committed to delivering innovative products to his customers. We’re proud of this legacy and it continues to drive us today.
We deeply value our more than 80,000 global employees who work every day to deliver superior products to our customers. It takes the best people and the best teams to solve our customers’ biggest challenges,” stated John Deere in a press release on X.

The company is now taking decisive steps to modify its approach by discontinuing support for external social or cultural awareness events and concentrating on professional development and recruitment initiatives. The company wrote that these changes are rooted in a commitment to listening to customer feedback and enhancing operational efficiency.

“We will no longer participate in or support external social or cultural awareness parades, festivals, or events. Business Resource Groups will exclusively focus on professional development, networking, mentoring, and supporting talent recruitment efforts,” the company explained.

The agricultural giant also detailed its ongoing commitment to its workforce and regulatory compliance. “Auditing all company-mandated training materials and policies to ensure the absence of socially motivated messages, while being in compliance with federal, state, and local laws,” the statement added, underlining an effort to maintain a diverse workforce while eschewing mandated social agendas.

“Reaffirming within the business that the existence of diversity quotas and pronoun identification have never been and are not company policy.”

The press release finished, “We fundamentally believe that a diverse workforce enables us to best meet our customers’ needs and because of that we will continue to track and advance the diversity of our organization. We remain committed to listening to our customers, employees, and other key stakeholders. Your trust and confidence in us are of the utmost importance to everyone at John Deere and we fully intend to earn it every day and in every way we can.”

The storm of backlash ignited for John Deere earlier in the month when influencer Robby Starbuck released a viral video highlighting John Deere’s “woke” policies. These policies reportedly included sponsoring a Pride event aimed at young children, implementing gender identity training, and encouraging employees to use preferred pronouns in all communications.

Starbuck detailed several grievances, such as the company’s sponsorship of controversial events and trainings, which many consumers felt prioritized identity politics over traditional business practices. The company also reportedly encouraged employees to list their preferred pronouns in communications and participated in programs like United Way’s “United For Equity” challenge.

Outside of the RNC on Tuesday night, Journalist Savanah Hernandez took CNN hosts Dana Bash and Jake Tapper to town over their network’s coverage of President Joe Biden’s physical and mental health. Hernandez questioned Bash and Tapper directly about their delayed reporting on Biden’s cognitive decline—a topic that has been the subject of much debate and concern amongst the people.

“You guys refused to report on the incompetence of Joe Biden and I was just wondering if you guys were told not to report on that or if you guys really were that ignorant,” Hernandez said to CNN’s Chris Wallace and Jake Tapper. “The entire American public for some reason was able to see that Joe Biden was grossly incompetent and that he’s been in cognitive decline for a long time. However, you guys just started reporting this.”

“Dana, you’re a respected reporter. Why is it that you guys just started to report on the decline of Joe Biden? Don’t you feel like you have a responsibility to the public not to lie to them about the cognitive decline of Joe Biden?” Hernandez continued.

“Dana, you’re a very respected journalist. Jake, not so much respected, but people listen to you still. Would any of you guys like to respond to Joe Biden’s cognitive decline and why you guys lied to the American people about it for so long?”

WATCH:

Neither Bash nor Tapper provided responses during the encounter, which was somewhat marred by the presence of a security detail that kept Hernandez at a distance. The confrontation comes on the heels of a notably poor debate performance by Biden, described by many, including CNN’s own analysts, as disastrous for his reelection prospects. Following the debate, there was widespread criticism of Biden’s seemingly unfocused answers and lackluster demeanor.

WATCH:

As the U.S. presidential election heats up, Biden’s age remains a focal point. At 81, he is the oldest sitting president in U.S. history, and this continues to be a key topic of discussion as his term continues. Recently, at a press conference during the NATO summit, Biden misspoke several times, mistakenly referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “President Putin” and U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris as “Vice President Trump.” The verbal slips have fueled discussions and speculation among many, including medical professionals, about potential signs of cognitive decline associated with neuro-degeneration in the president.

WATCH:

Despite all the drama and concerns, the Democratic National Committee is pressing forward with its plan to nominate Biden virtually before next month’s Democratic convention in Chicago, despite increasing opposition from some party officials. These dissenters have urged the DNC to abandon this approach due to the intense ongoing discussions about whether Biden should run for a second term.

Biden has reassured voters that his doctors have not indicated any serious medical issues. In an interview with ABC News, Biden joked that he would only consider dropping out if he received a divine directive from “the Lord Almighty.”

Joy Reid Says Trump Getting Shot Is The “Same” As Biden Getting Covid

Joy Reid Says Trump Getting Shot Is The “Same” As Biden Getting Covid

The New Atlantis

On Wednesday night, MSNBC host Joy Reid suggested that former President Donald Trump surviving an assassination attempt and President Joe Biden contracting COVID-19 are comparably significant indicators of strength due to their advanced ages. The bold comparison comes at a tense time, just days after an attempted assassination on Trump and as Biden tests positive for COVID-19 amidst preparing for a public appearance.

Joy Reid’s comments on her show have ignited a firestorm of criticism. She posited, “These two men are both elderly. Donald Trump is an elderly man who, for whatever reason, was given nine seconds to take an iconic photo op during an active shooter situation. Weird situation, we’ll figure that out one day. But his survival of that and bouncing right back and going right to his convention is being conveyed in the media world as a sign of strength.”

“This current president of the United States is 81 years old and has COVID. Should he be fine in a couple of days? Doesn’t that convey exactly the same thing? That he’s strong enough, older than Trump, to have gotten something that used to really be fatal to people his age.”

“So if he does fine out of it and comes back and is able to do rallies, isn’t that exactly the same? I mean, it’s not exactly the same. It’s not the same incident, but it’s an elderly man coming through out of an illness. It should.”

WATCH:

Four days ago, an assassination attempt targeted Donald Trump at a political rally. The perpetrator, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, had scouted the rally location twice before carrying out his attack. Despite the violence, Trump made a resilient appearance at the Republican National Convention with a visible bandage on his ear, signaling his recovery.

Meanwhile, the health of President Joe Biden, 81, has captured national attention as he tested positive for COVID-19 today, casting doubt on his scheduled appearance at the UnidosUS conference in Las Vegas.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) confronted a reporter from The Times of London at the Republican National Convention (RNC), delivering a blistering critique of the media’s role in dividing America. The confrontation came as the RNC is poised to hear from JD Vance (R-OH), Trump’s vice presidential pick, who is set to share his compelling life story and affirm the GOP’s connection with everyday Americans.

Jo Crawford of The Times of London questioned the Republican representative from Georgia regarding J.D. Vance’s recent remarks, in which he speculated that the United Kingdom could become the first “Islamist country” under the newly elected Labour government.

“Well, let’s talk about the words of the Democrats and Joe Biden that have also labeled President Trump as a fascist, labeled all of us as not Lee’s and Hitler, completely lied, demonizing him so much so that a young man, a 20 year old, which is hard to imagine, actually climbed onto a roof and tried to murder President Trump.”

“This is the first time you’ve ever talked to me,” Greene said. “I want you to know I’m a regular person like you. I’m also a mom. I have three kids. We have to put up with the most unreal amount of bullsh*t because of little liars like you that take your job and turn it into political activism.”

WATCH:

“You’re the cause of our country being divided,” Greene chirped, pointing her finger at the reporter. “You’re the cause of President Trump almost being assassinated. You’re done. Yeah, go back,” she yelled, signaling the end of the interview.

Trump revealed his selection of Vance as his vice presidential candidate in a Truth Social post on Monday. He described Vance as “best suited to assume the position of Vice President.”

During Trump’s initial presidential campaign, Vance voted for independent candidate Evan McMullin. He openly declared himself a “never Trump guy.” However, Vance’s perspective shifted when he began his own Senate campaign and sought Trump’s endorsement. In 2021, Vance expressed remorse over his previous views, stating, “I regret ‘being wrong about’ Trump and ask people not to judge.

BREAKING: Joe Biden Tests Positive For Covid thumbnail

BREAKING: Joe Biden Tests Positive For Covid

The New Atlantis

President Joe Biden’s upcoming appearance at the UnidosUS conference in Las Vegas Wednesday night was thrown into uncertainty today.

Janet Murguía, the president and CEO of UnidosUS, revealed that Joe Biden, 81, has tested positive for Covid-19.

In a BET interview recorded on Tuesday, Biden, addressed the conditions under which he would reconsider running for office. When questioned about what could prompt such a decision, he stated, “If I had some medical condition that emerged, if somebody, if doctors came to me and said, you got this problem and that problem,” according to an excerpt released on Wednesday.

WATCH:

During an ABC News interview this month, Biden also said that he would only consider withdrawing from the race if the “Lord almighty” instructed him to do so.

As the incumbent faces another challenge, this isn’t the first, or second time, he’s had the virus. Biden first tested positive for COVID-19 in July, 2022. His symptoms were reported as very mild, attributed in part to his vaccination and booster status. He had received two booster shots of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine by that time. The White House physician said that Biden’s symptoms included a runny nose, fatigue, and an occasional dry cough. During this time, he was treated with Paxlovid, an antiviral drug designed to reduce the severity of the disease.

Despite his diagnosis, Biden continued to work from the White House residence. He isolated from others, and his engagements were either postponed or conducted virtually.

Shortly after testing negative and resuming his public schedule, Biden tested positive again in a phenomenon known as “COVID-19 rebound,” commonly associated with Paxlovid treatment. This rebound case was detected on July 30, 2022. His symptoms during this rebound were also mild, and he re-entered isolation, continuing to work remotely without requiring further treatment. He tested negative several days later and resumed his normal schedule.

Nearly a year later, on July 30, 2023, Biden tested positive for COVID-19 once again. His symptoms again were reported as mild. Following this second diagnosis, the White House confirmed that Biden would isolate in accordance with CDC guidelines but would continue carrying out all his duties remotely. He did not receive antiviral treatments that time.

The news comes as there is deepening anxiety about chances of reelection. Even those previously optimistic about facing former President Trump have been uneasy since the debate. After enduring a strenuous lead-up to the 2024 election, what was once concern is now serious apprehension.

Only a few months out from the election, the situation looks increasingly challenging: Trump is leading in key battleground states and has outpaced Biden significantly in fundraising as of April, hinting at a tougher road ahead for the Democrats.

Of the last eight presidents who sought reelection, five were behind in the polls like Biden is at this stage of the campaign. Among them, four ultimately lost: Donald Trump in 2020, George H.W. Bush in 1992, Jimmy Carter in 1980, and Gerald Ford in 1976. Only George W. Bush, who was trailing in 2004, managed to secure a victory according to CNN.

This is a developing story…
