A far-left lunatic fashioned at least 200 improvised explosive devices out of homemade materials and planned to unleash a series of terrorist attacks across Washington, D.C., authorities said after arresting the man on Tuesday.
The deranged New Jersey resident had reportedly filled a tent with what the Metropolitan District Police described as “grenades” readied for detonation at the annual Red Mass gathering of Christians this week.
A notebook left behind by the man was filled with hate-filled scrawls against justices on the U.S. Supreme Court, who already confirmed they would not be attending the appeal to their faith out of safety concerns.
Louis Geri, 41, also appeared motivated out of hatred for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to his writings left behind in a tent outside the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle. He allegedly told police officers who approached him, “You might want to stay back and call the federales, I have explosives,” according to a copy of their report obtained by the Washington Post.
As negotiators attempted to coax Geri out of his tent, he allegedly handed them a rambling series of notes outlining his disdain for Catholic Church, Supreme Court justices, Jews, and ICE, the filing states.
Geri’s arrest comes as Catholics gather for their annual Red Mass meeting at the beginning of the high court’s term to call on justices to align their decisions with respect for faith, freedom, and life. The first crowds had begun to gather when authorities inspected Geri’s green tent and uncovered 200 homemade explosives inside.
The Metropolitan District Police called in a bomb squad and attempted to negotiate with Geri, who refused to leave the tent.
“Do you want me to throw one out, I’ll test one out on the streets?” he asked a sergeant, adding he had a “hundred-plus” explosives inside his tent.
When officers warned they were readying to forcibly remove Geri, he remarked, “Several of your people are gonna die from one of these.”
A negotiator attempted to ratchet down the tension by agreeing to read Geri’s manifesto, titled “Written Negotiations for the Avoidance of Destruction of Property via Detonation of Explosives,” according to the court filing.
The female officer then peeked inside the tent, where she saw Geri holding a butane lighter over one of the explosives, telling her, “All right, if you want to do it, we’ll do it now.”
“Step away or there’s going to be deaths,” he warned, causing officers to retreat and form a perimeter.
Geri was eventually handcuffed after a brief struggle when he left the tent to urinate on a tree.
His cache of devices was sent to the FBI for testing, the NY Post reported.
