WATCH: JD Vance Walks Over To Kamala’s Plane On Tarmac, Clashes With Media

The New Atlantis

In Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Senator JD Vance (R-OH), the running mate of former President Donald Trump, seized an opportunity to confront the media as Vice President Kamala Harris arrived aboard Air Force 2. Vance, fresh from his own campaign rally in the city, boldly walked over to the crowd of reporters who had been covering Harris’s arrival.

“Hopefully it’s going to be my plane in a few months, but I also thought you guys might get lonely because the Vice President doesn’t answer questions from reporters and hasn’t,” Vance said. “Have they given you guys an explanation for why she won’t take questions from reporters?” Vance asked, only to be met with silence.

“It would be good for the American people and I think it would be good for you all if she actually ran a real campaign instead of one from a basement with a teleprompter.” Vance also seized the moment to critique Harris’s policy positions, particularly on crime and border security, areas where he claimed her stance has seen significant shifts.

“She pretends to be tough on crime prosecutor, and yet here she is, wanting to keep on the case. She’s the border Czar, yet she’s opened up the American southern border,” he argued. “This is a person who has to answer questions from the media. It’s disgraceful that she works for you guys. It’s also insulting to the American people,” Vance concluded, before heading off to continue his campaign activities.

WATCH:

While Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, continued their push across key battleground states, presenting themselves as the best choice for Midwest voters, Vance’s unscheduled appearance on the tarmac was a strategic move to challenge the narrative being set by his opponents. The Harris-Walz campaign raked in $36 million within 24 hours of announcing their running mate, according to a campaign official. The surge in donations comes on the heels of a stellar July for the Harris campaign, which boasted a $310 million haul.

Meanwhile, Trump has hinted at an impending debate with Harris while speaking off the campaign trail. In a morning interview, he expressed his anticipation for a debate “in the near future,” also suggesting that the venue might extend beyond Fox News, leaving the door open for other networks to host the event. Vance has also expressed a willingness to debate Vice President Harris next week, saying he’s ready to engage if she agrees to the matchup.

“Here’s my offer to Kamala Harris: If she’d like to do a debate with me on August 13, I’ll do it, right? We should do that, right? I don’t think she wants to anymore, because one, she probably doesn’t even know that she’s going to be the Democratic nominee,” Vance said during his stop in Eau Claire today.

“And two, two, we don’t know who the vice presidential nominee is going to be either — he’s got a lot of skeletons that are coming out of the closet today, and we’ll see if the Democrats pull a bait and switch on Tim Walz or on Kamala Harris, just like they did with Joe Biden.”

WATCH: Katie Couric GRILLS Nancy Pelosi, Makes Her Snap With Brutal Question

The New Atlantis

Katie Couric didn’t pull any punches when she grilled former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi over the lack of transparency concerning President Joe Biden’s ability to run for re-election. The interview, which began with Couric invoking Pelosi’s previous criticisms of former President Donald Trump, quickly escalated into a fierce debate about double standards in honesty.

Couric referenced Pelosi’s remarks suggesting that Trump’s family should have intervened due to his behavior post-election, pressing Pelosi on whether Biden’s situation warranted similar concerns. “You talk about the Trump family and basically saying that there should have been an intervention by the family,” Couric said.

“But with all due respect, Speaker Pelosi, when I read that, I wondered, couldn’t the same thing be said about President Biden? Should people have earlier determined that perhaps he didn’t have the physical stamina to endure a re-election campaign and put the Democratic Party in a better position for this election?”

“Well, with all due respect, again, you’re making an equivalence here that doesn’t exist,” Pelosi responded, attempting to differentiate between Trump’s alleged harmful actions towards democracy and Biden’s physical capabilities. “Whether you think their stamina to run again and serve for four years is quite different.”

WATCH:

“But that doesn’t answer the question of whether there should have been more transparency,” Couric responded. “If President Biden was too protected and kept from the public for too long, and that it put the Democratic Party at a disadvantage, given the election is less than 100 days away.”

While Pelosi championed Biden’s achievements, such as a “successful” NATO summit and a complicated prisoner exchange, the question of his ability to perform for another four-year term remains a shadow over his potential candidacy. “Up until then, he had an enormously successful NATO summit, the 75th anniversary of NATO in Washington, DC,” Pelosi said. “They produced great policy statements and the rest very unified. A newly expanded NATO under his leadership, strengthened and expanded with two new countries, Finland and Sweden, coming into the country, unified in terms of the fight in Ukraine.”

Couric’s probing brought to light the delicate balance between political accomplishments and the physical demands of presidential duties, a topic that remains hotly debated as the Democratic Party gears up for the upcoming electoral challenges.

Pelosi has not had any contact with Biden since he withdrew from the presidential race last month. Despite stepping down from her leadership role at the commencement of this Congress, 84-year-old Pelosi remains a formidable figure within the Democratic party. Pelosi clarified that her only communication about the 2024 Democratic ticket was directly to President Biden himself.

This comes after revelations that Pelosi had previously expressed her concerns directly to Biden about his electoral prospects. According to CNN, Pelosi had warned the president that polling data suggested he was unlikely to defeat former President Trump, potentially jeopardizing the Democrats’ chances to reclaim the House.

However, Biden seemed to have dismissed these concerns, with insiders claiming he cited other polls indicating a possible victory for him. The conversations reportedly left Biden defensive about his position. Ultimately, Biden decided to step down last month, endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democratic ticket in a move that has reshaped the party’s approach to the upcoming election.

Pelosi, meanwhile, continues to wield influence.

Kellyanne Conway Makes Eye-Popping Move, Don Jr. Responds: ‘A Little Too Swampy’

Kellyanne Conway Makes Eye-Popping Move, Don Jr. Responds: ‘A Little Too Swampy’

The New Atlantis

A principal architect of former President Donald Trump’s 2016 victory and former counselor has registered as a lobbyist for a Ukrainian oligarch, drawing sharp criticism from within Trump’s circle.

Last Friday, Kellyanne Conway filed papers to lobby on behalf of Victor Pinchuk, a prominent Ukrainian billionaire and philanthropist. Pinchuk has been vocal in his support for Ukraine amidst its ongoing conflict with Russia, making him a significant figure in the geopolitical landscape. The move comes at a time when former President Trump and other Republicans have hinted at a potential reduction of U.S. support for Ukraine should Trump win the presidency again in 2024. The contract, reportedly worth $50,000 a month, positions Conway in direct representation of interests that could conflict with the isolationist tendencies Trump advocated during his tenure.

In a video on his Rumble channel, Donald Trump Jr. revealed his bewilderment and disappointment. “Listen, hey, I like Kellyanne, you know, I’ve known her for a long time. But this? It doesn’t make any sense to me,” Trump Jr. said. He added, “It’s just a little too swampy for my taste and honestly it’s tough to sort of… hard to believe.”

“The rich guys in Ukraine, they want the war to continue because they’re happy to send the guys dying on the battlegrounds as cannon fodder over there because they don’t have any power,” Trump Jr. said. Conway’s role will focus on strengthening U.S.-Ukraine relations, particularly in enhancing Ukraine’s image in the U.S. and securing more robust support in its defense against Russian advances. The task is complicated by her previous close association with Trump, who has been less enthusiastic about U.S. involvement in Ukraine.

WATCH:

Conway’s contract has sparked discontent among some Trump insiders who view it as an opportunistic move leveraging her ties to the ex-president. In a recent filing on the Justice Department’s FARA website, Conway laid out her blueprint to lobby U.S. lawmakers and opinion shapers, underscoring Ukraine’s pivotal role in safeguarding democratic values. She plans to amplify the narrative of Ukraine’s battle for liberty against Russia’s unprovoked military aggression according to The New York Times.

Additionally, Conway is gearing up to sway American dignitaries to attend next month’s edition of Pinchuk’s annual security conference in Kyiv according to the outlet. Just hours after her strategy went public, Conway took to social media to post a photo with former President Trump during a significant meeting in New Jersey, teasing “quite the visit today.” Meanwhile, Pinchuk, a post-Soviet Union steel magnate, has been a lavish spender in both Washington and Kyiv, aiming to sway power brokers.

His financial exploits include donating over $13 million to the Clinton Foundation since 2006 and a controversial $150,000 to Trump’s defunct charitable foundation in September 2015 for a brief video appearance at a security conference. Pinchuk also found himself tangentially involved in the special counsel’s probe into Trump’s Russia ties, over scrutinized payments for his appearance. Additionally, he was implicated in funding a report for Ukraine’s pro-Russia Yanukovych government, criticized for glossing over the jailing of a political opponent. Despite denials from Pinchuk, U.S. consultants confirmed his financial backing of the controversial report.

Less than a year after witnessing the deadly aftermath of the Hamas attacks in southern Israel, 30-year-old journalist Trey Yingst has been promoted to chief foreign correspondent. The announcement came from Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott on Tuesday, marking a significant career milestone for Yingst, who reported the harrowing events for Fox News last October.

Scott praised Trey Yingst in a staff memo while announcing his recent promotion, highlighting his critical role in the network’s global coverage. “During major breaking news in every corner of the world, Trey has been the eyes and ears on the ground for our viewers since 2018,” Scott said according to The Hill. “Trey’s indefatigable work ethic and dedication in multiple war zones has made him an incredible asset to Fox News and we are extremely proud of his first-class journalism.”

Born in Hershey, Pennsylvania, Yingst’s passion for journalism sparked at a young age. He co-founded News2Share while attending American University, which became a platform for frontline, citizen journalism, the power of raw, unfiltered news.

His assignments have taken him across the Middle East, including Israel, where he covered the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and to Ukraine, where he reported on the Russian invasion.

Yingst’s new book will also offer a gripping firsthand account of the catastrophic Oct. 7 terrorist attack on Israel. He began writing “Black Saturday: An Unfiltered Account of the October 7th Attack on Israel and the War in Gaza” amidst the chaos following the severe attack by Hamas. During this period, he was simultaneously reporting live for Fox News, delivering updates from southern Israel and Gaza.

Yingst believes his book offers a unique perspective as it was written on the ground by a journalist who was deeply embedded in the unfolding events, “living this story” as it happened. “‘Black Saturday’ is the gold standard in storytelling when it comes to what took place on October 7 in southern Israel and the war that followed,” Yingst told Fox News. The book releases on Oct. 1.

“A massacre against the civilian population of Israel unfolded in the early hours of October 7, when Hamas militants crossed the border from the Gaza Strip into the communities that line Gaza in southern Israel, and it killed soldiers and civilians alike and dragged more than 240 hostages back into Gaza,” he said. “‘Black Saturday’ talks about our experience, the Fox News team in Jerusalem responding to that attack.”

“‘Black Saturday’ tells that story, and then the stories of the soldiers and the police officers and the civilians in southern Israel who were trying to make sense of what was unfolding, and then take the fight back to Hamas inside Gaza, along with the stories of Palestinian civilians who were directly affected by this conflict and continue to be affected today,” Yingst continued.

Longtime CNN Host Breaks From Liberal Media, Calls Out Kamala’s ‘Basement Strategy’

The New Atlantis

Longtime CNN host Chris Cillizza openly criticized Vice President Kamala Harris’s approach to media engagement, calling attention to what her “basement strategy.” This criticism comes at a pivotal moment as Harris, alongside her newly announced running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, gears up for their first joint rally in Philadelphia, marking the beginning of a critical tour through battleground states.

Harris aims to bolster the Democrat ticket as they prepare to challenge former President Donald Trump in the upcoming election. However, Cillizza’s remarks are a growing concern within certain circles of the media regarding Harris’s apparent reluctance to engage directly with the press.

“Kamala Harris has been the de facto presidential nominee for two weeks now. In that time, as best as I can tell, she has done zero media interviews and held zero press conferences (or even taken random questions from reporters),” Cillizza tweeted earlier today.

Cillizza, a well-known political commentator and journalist, served as an editor-at-large for CNN. His work not only earned him a reputation for insightful, often witty commentary but also established him as a significant figure in political journalism. Despite facing criticism at times for his takes, Cillizza remains a prominent voice in American political journalism.

Since Biden stepped aside to endorse Harris for the 2024 Presidential race, Harris hasn’t faced the media once. At Joint Base Andrews, the Democrat front-runner gave only a brief nod to the press as she and Joe Biden welcomed home Americans from a massive prisoner swap with Russia.

Just weeks ago, Democratic leaders were all but demanding Biden follow the same playbook. It seems now Harris’s team is jittery about putting her live on air, fearing she might not handle the heat of real-time questions.

REPORT: Josh Shapiro Lost Interest In VP Spot Hours After Meeting With Kamala thumbnail

REPORT: Josh Shapiro Lost Interest In VP Spot Hours After Meeting With Kamala

The New Atlantis

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro appeared to lose interest in the vice presidential slot shortly after a crucial meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris. Insiders close to Shapiro suggest that the interview did not live up to expectations, leaving a sour taste among his advisers.

Despite the high stakes, Shapiro revealed significant reservations about stepping away from his gubernatorial duties, a decision compounded by the lackluster interaction. Instead, Vice President Harris announced Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her choice for running mate, sidelining the electoral map in favor of energizing the Democratic core.

Walz, known for his down-to-earth demeanor and background as a schoolteacher and congressman, was swiftly picked over other contenders in a fast-paced search. The 60-year-old governor, a favorite among progressives and labor groups could resonate with Midwestern blue-collar voters—a strategic gamble by Harris.

The choice edged out Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, despite his strong pull in his pivotal battleground state, signaling a strategy to appeal more to voter values than geographic advantages.

Politico reported:

Why not Shapiro? By contrast, Pennsylvania Gov. JOSH SHAPIRO’s team felt that his own interview with Harris did not go as well as it could have. There was “not a great feeling” coming out of it, according to a person in touch with Shapiro’s advisers. A person familiar with the selection process told our colleagues that, after their meeting on Sunday, Shapiro called Harris’ team and made clear that he was “struggling with the decision to leave his current job as governor, in order to seek the vice presidency.”

On Tuesday, Harris officially selected her presidential running mate after weeks of intense speculation following Biden’s unprecedented decision to drop out of the presidential race last month. Prior to his time in the governor’s mansion, Walz represented Minnesota’s 1st Congressional District from 2007 through 2019. Walz was in office during the Black Lives Matter riots in 2020, which began in Minneapolis before spreading throughout the nation. Before a trial had occurred, Walz condemned Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin and said the infamous video of his encounter with George Floyd was “disturbing.”

WATCH:

Shapiro responded to the announcement, writing on X, “My work here in Pennsylvania is far from finished — there is a lot more stuff I want to get done for our Commonwealth. Over the next 90 days, I look forward to traveling all across the Commonwealth to unite Pennsylvanians behind my friends Kamala Harris and Tim Walz and defeat Donald Trump. See you tonight in Philly.”

Political consultant Hank Sheinkopf told the The New York Post that Shapiro was deemed too controversial for Harris’ running mate due to his strong pro-Israel stance. In contrast, Walz was considered a safer bet, steering clear of potential political hotbeds. “The ticket would have been too pro-Israel. Harris doesn’t need a battle over Israel-Gaza,” said Sheinkopf. “She has to keep the progressives in the fold.”

NEW: Trump Thanks Barron For Helping His Campaign In A YUGE Way

The New Atlantis

On Tuesday former President Donald Trump expressed his profound gratitude towards his youngest son, Barron Trump, for playing a pivotal role in orchestrating what turned out to be a record-breaking social media event. The spectacle was hosted by notable internet personality, Adin Ross, who not only interviewed Trump but also presented him with lavish gifts such as a gold Rolex watch and a customized Tesla Cybertruck.

The live interview streamed on Monday afternoon quickly became the center of online attention, with Trump revealing on Truth Social that the platform had set “an all-time record, by far,” amassing over 100 million views. The staggering number combined the unique blend of Gen-Z entertainment and politics, leading to a vast audience. During the event, Ross, known for his controversial yet magnetic online presence, sat down with Trump in a session that extended beyond typical politics, exploring areas that resonated with younger audiences.

“Wow!!! Adin Ross Interview yesterday EXPLODED, but in a very positive way! Platform set an all-time record, by far, with over 100 MILLION Views/Hits. Congratulations to Adin and his wonderful mother, father, and family, who I had the pleasure to meet. Thank you also to Barron Trump for the introduction to your friend, Adin. Young people are the future of America. THOSE NUMBERS ARE REALLY BIG ‘STUFF!’” Trump wrote.

By facilitating a new connection, Barron contributed significantly to his father’s campaign.

Trump was gifted a custom-designed Cybertruck, which bore the powerful image of the former president with his fist raised, symbolizing his defiant spirit amid his assassination attempt, at the Mar-a-Lago event. Trump told Ross that Barron “says hello” and that “he’s a big fan of yours.” Barron reportedly said to his father about Ross: “Dad, he’s really big.”

“My kids say, ‘Dad you have no idea how big this interview is.’ I said ‘Don’t tell me that,’” Trump said during Monday’s interview.

WATCH:

The dramatic entrance was only a prelude to a more light-hearted moment that would capture the internet’s attention. After discussing various topics ranging from politics to personal anecdotes, Trump and Ross surprised the audience by breaking into the iconic YMCA dance, a nod to his campaign rallies where the song became an unofficial anthem.

Ross is a prominent content creator and live streamer, best known for his engaging presence on Twitch, where he streams a variety of content, including video games and live vlogs. Gaining a substantial following for his energetic personality and interactions with other internet personalities, Ross has also ventured into the world of celebrity gaming streams, collaborating with high-profile figures like Bronny James and Lil Yachty. His content often extends beyond gaming to include lively discussions and reactions to various topics, making him a versatile figure in the digital entertainment industry.

In a bold move during the interview, Ross directly told his 1.36 million followers on Kick to throw their support behind Trump, showcasing the former president’s strategic push to win over young male voters, who are trending more conservative. Now, turning the campaign dial up a notch, Trump is zeroing in, indicating a targeted approach to capture a new, crucial voting bloc.

Trump told Ross that Barron “says hello” and that “he’s a big fan of yours.” Barron reportedly said to his father about Ross: “Dad, he’s really big.” “My kids say, ‘Dad you have no idea how big this interview is.’ I said ‘Don’t tell me that,’” Trump said during Monday’s interview. BREAKING: Another Plot To Assassinate Trump Is Thwarted

The New Atlantis

Federal authorities have charged Asif Merchant, a Pakistani national, in a plot to potentially assassinate former U.S. President Donald Trump, CNN reports. The United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York has unveiled a detailed complaint that reads like a script from a Hollywood movie, outlining Merchant’s elaborate plan to kill Trump and other high-profile U.S. officials.

Merchant, also known as Asif Raza Merchant, stands accused of conspiring to commit murder for hire. The 46-year-old, who has ties to Pakistan, Iran, and Iraq, reportedly masterminded the plot from overseas, traveling to the U.S. to recruit hitmen for the job.

According to the FBI, the plot began to take shape in April 2024, when Merchant flew from Pakistan to Houston, Texas. Under the guise of discussing business opportunities, he reached out to a confidential source who eventually alerted law enforcement to the nefarious scheme. This source then introduced Merchant to two undercover law enforcement officers posing as hitmen.

In a series of covert meetings in New York, Merchant revealed his chilling intentions. He allegedly offered $100,000 for the assassination of Trump and other officials, describing a multifaceted plan involving theft, protests, and murder. Merchant reportedly told the undercover officers that the targets “are the ones who are hurting Pakistan and the Muslim world.” Merchant’s meticulous planning included the use of coded language and multiple cellular phones to avoid detection.

He referred to the assassination as “heavy work,” using phrases like “yarn-dye” and “fleece jacket” to discuss the murder plot and financial transactions. His conspiratorial language and tactics point to a sophisticated understanding of tradecraft and operational security. In June 2024, Merchant allegedly took a significant step towards actualizing his plan.

After discussing details with the confidential source in a Nassau County hotel, he met with the undercover officers in Manhattan, handing over $5,000 in cash as an advance payment for the hit. He assured the officers of more money to come, arranging for the transfer through the informal “hawala” system. The FBI’s investigation revealed that Merchant’s plot was part of a larger scheme possibly orchestrated by adversaries of the U.S.

The complaint references previous Iranian threats to U.S. officials, suggesting a larger geopolitical motive behind Merchant’s actions. Merchant’s arrest on July 12, 2024, marked the culmination of months of undercover work by federal agents. Authorities apprehended him as he prepared to leave the country, finding a handwritten note in his wallet with the coded language he used to communicate about the plot.

A source familiar with the investigation informed CNN that no ties have been discovered between Merchant and the recent Butler, Pennsylvania shooting. The FBI is confident that they thwarted Merchant’s alleged plot well in advance, and he has been assisting with the investigation since his capture, U.S. authorities confirm. Due to Iran’s public threats against former President Trump, the FBI relayed this crucial intelligence to the Secret Service, resulting in ramped-up security measures for Trump, according to officials. The U.S. government has voiced ongoing concerns that Iran might seek vengeance for the 2020 U.S. drone strike that eliminated Gen. Qasem Soleimani, a leading figure in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps

JUST IN: Trump Announces HUGE Interview With Elon Musk

The New Atlantis

In what promises to be one of the most interesting media events of the year, former President Donald Trump has announced a forthcoming interview with none other than tech mogul Elon Musk.

The announcement, made casually by Trump on his Truth Social platform, hinted at a Monday night special that’s sure to captivate audiences across the globe.

Trump posted: “ON MONDAY NIGHT I’LL BE DOING A MAJOR INTERVIEW WITH ELON MUSK — Details to follow!” With Trump’s knack for the dramatic and Musk’s penchant for the unexpected, the interview is expected to be a ratings juggernaut.

The relationship between the two has been a rollercoaster of admiration and disagreements at times, reflecting their dynamic and often unpredictable personas. Initially, Musk was part of Trump’s business advisory council at the start of his presidency, suggesting a degree of alignment, or at least a willingness to collaborate. However, the relationship took a turn when Trump announced the U.S. withdrawal from the Paris Agreement on climate change. Musk, a staunch advocate for renewable energy and environmental sustainability at the time, saw this move as antithetical to his vision of a future powered by sustainable energy.

Consequently, Musk resigned from the council, marking a public break with the Trump administration. Despite these differences, there have been moments where Musk has praised Trump’s economic policies, particularly those that have encouraged manufacturing and potential space ventures. Trump, on his part, has oscillated between criticizing Musk’s business practices and acknowledging his contributions to technology and space exploration.

Musk has already endorsed Trump for the 2024 presidential election after the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania in July. At his Atlanta rally alongside Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance, Trump voiced support for electric vehicles, influenced by the Tesla CEO’s backing. The endorsement contrasts his previous skepticism towards EVs. During the event, Trump criticized Democrat nominee Kamala Harris for her push to phase out gasoline-powered vehicles in favor of electric ones. He shared his concerns over their limited range, high costs, and significant dependency on Chinese manufacturing—pointing out what he sees as flaws in the Democratic approach to environmental reform.

“They’re fantastic and I’m for electric cars. I have to be, you know, because Elon endorsed me very strongly. So I have no choice,” Trump said. “I’m for a small slice as a slice. You want to have every kind of a car imaginable. You want to have gas-propelled cars, you want to have hybrids, you want to have every kind of a car imaginable. They want to go all electric, and there’s no way you can ever load them up. They call it loading them, you can’t load them.”

Their relationship is emblematic of their larger-than-life personas—both are figures who not only shape their respective industries but also influence global policy and economic landscapes. As they prepare for their upcoming joint interview, all eyes will be on how these two powerful figures interact, showcasing their complex and ever-evolving relationship.

Tim Walz’s Wife Appears To PRAISE Violent BLM Riots In Shocking Re-Surfaced Clip: ‘Such A Touchstone’

Tim Walz’s Wife Appears To PRAISE Violent BLM Riots In Shocking Re-Surfaced Clip: ‘Such A Touchstone’

The New Atlantis

Minnesota First Lady Gwen Walz has come under fire for her comments regarding the violent riots that shook Minneapolis in 2020. A resurfaced video clip showcased Walz in a rather questionable light, just as her husband, Governor Tim Walz, is thrust onto the national stage as Vice President Kamala Harris’s choice for running mate.

The clip, dating back to a 2020 interview, captures Gwen Walz discussing the early days of the Black Lives Matter riots with a disturbing sense of nostalgia. “I could smell the burning tires,” Walz recounted. “That was a very real thing. And I kept the windows open for as long as I could because I felt like that was such a touchstone of what was happening.”

The timing of the clip’s resurfacing could not be more inopportune for Governor Tim Walz, who was recently announced as Vice President Harris’s running mate in the upcoming election. Harris, who assumed the party’s nomination after President Joe Biden’s unexpected withdrawal last month, praised Walz’s “leadership and dedication” as key factors in her decision. Walz, a former Congressman and current second-term Governor, is seen as a crucial figure in an attempt to strengthen the Democrat ticket.

WATCH:

Tim Walz was in office during the Black Lives Matter riots in 2020, which began in Minneapolis before spreading throughout the nation. Before a trial had occurred, Walz condemned Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin and said the infamous video of his encounter with George Floyd was “disturbing.”

“The lack of humanity in this disturbing video is sickening. We will get answers and seek justice,” he said at the time. Chauvin was ultimately convicted of murder — after nationwide riots that killed more than 20 people and caused billions of dollars in property damage — though the trial has become a subject of intense controversy. Hundreds of pages of sworn testimony from Hennepin County prosecutors have now revealed that prosecutors acknowledged the “extreme pressure” to prosecute Derrick Chauvin and three additional former Minneapolis police officers. According to a report from Alpha News, multiple employees of the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, including a prosecutor, withdrew after stating that the pressure to charge the other three officers involved, “violated professional and ethical rules.”

While on the campaign trail for Vice President Harris, Walz has referred to former President Donald Trump as a “fascist” who cannot be allowed to gain power. “These guys are just weird. That’s who they are. So, it isn’t much else. Don’t give them the power,” Walz told a crowd of Democratic voters just days after former President Trump was nearly assassinated at a rally in western Pennsylvania.

WATCH:

“Look, are they a threat to democracy? Yes. Are they going to take our rights away? Yes. Are they going to put people’s lives in danger? Yes. Are they going to endanger the planet by not dealing with climate change? Yes. They’re going to do all that, but don’t lift these guys up like they’re sometimes heroes,” he continued. “Everybody in this room knows, I know it as a teacher, a bully has no self-confidence. A bully has no strength. They have nothing. The fascists depend on fear. The fascists depend on us going back. But we’re not afraid of weird people. We’re a little bit creeped out, but we’re not afraid.”

The Walz pick comes just days after Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro was widely believed to be the pick. Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker had tweeted and quickly deleted a video in support of the “Harris-Shapiro” campaign, causing betting odds to soar. Shapiro had drawn ire from the party’s progressive faction due to his past support of Israel and service in the IDF, however. Starting with Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Harris and Walz plan on attending every battleground state in the nation over the next several days. Several polls have found the race tightening significantly since President Biden stepped aside, with some even showing Harris ahead after weeks of Trump dominance.

According to a report from Alpha News, multiple employees of the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, including a prosecutor, withdrew after stating that the pressure to charge the other three officers involved, “violated professional and ethical rules.” While on the campaign trail for Vice President Harris, Walz has referred to former President Donald Trump as a “fascist” who cannot be allowed to gain power. “These guys are just weird. That’s who they are. So, it isn’t much else. Don’t give them the power,” Walz told a crowd of Democratic voters just days after former President Trump was nearly assassinated at a rally in western Pennsylvania. WATCH: “Look, are they a threat to democracy? We’re a little bit creeped out, but we’re not afraid.” The Walz pick comes just days after Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro was widely believed to be the pick.
