Democrats blast Supreme Court over ‘disastrous’ Trump immunity ruling

Congressional Democrats denounced the Supreme Court’s Monday ruling giving former President Donald Trump some immunity from criminal prosecution over his efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

In a 6-3 decision, the high court’s Republican-appointed majority ruled Trump has absolute immunity, but only for those core constitutional powers considered official acts. It will be up to the trial judge to determine which acts are official versus unofficial and thereby protected from prosecution by special counsel Jack Smith.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) called the ruling a “disgraceful decision by the MAGA Supreme Court,” leaning into the anti-court messaging that has been adopted since Trump-appointed justices delivered the deciding votes to overturn Roe v. Wade in 2022. Republicans regarded Monday’s ruling as a matter of “common sense.”

“Treason or incitement of an insurrection should not be considered a core constitutional power afforded to a president,” Schumer said. “This decision undermines the credibility of the Supreme Court and suggests that political influence trumps all in our courts today.”

Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), the chairwoman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, called the court ruling “disastrous,” while Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said she planned to file articles of impeachment against the Republican-appointed justices and accused them of being “consumed by a corruption crisis beyond its control.” The articles lack the votes to pass in the GOP-controlled House.

“Today’s ruling represents an assault on American democracy. It is up to Congress to defend our nation from this authoritarian capture,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “I intend on filing articles of impeachment upon our return.”

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) promised that House Democrats “will engage in aggressive oversight and legislative activity with respect to the Supreme Court to ensure that the extreme, far-right justices in the majority are brought into compliance with the Constitution.”

Many Democrats cited a scathing liberal dissent from Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who said the ruling “reshapes the institution of the presidency” and “makes a mockery” of the idea no man is above the law. Chief Justice John Roberts, one of the Republican-appointed justices in the majority, accused Sotomayor of striking a “tone of chilling doom that is wholly disproportionate to what the Court actually does today.”

“Let the president violate the law, let him exploit the trappings of his office for personal gain, let him use his official power for evil ends,” Sotomayor wrote. “In every use of official power, the president is now a king above the law.”

Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-NY) said Sotomayor “summed up perfectly what MAGA people and this MAGA Court want for Donald Trump.”

“The danger and magnitude of this decision cannot be understated,” Velazquez added.

Republicans, including Trump, lauded the outcome, which is expected to delay Smith’s election subversion case against the former president until after the November election.

“BIG WIN FOR OUR CONSTITUTION AND DEMOCRACY. PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!” the presumptive GOP presidential nominee wrote on Truth Social.

In a celebratory post on his social platform, Trump said the Supreme Court decision “should end all of Crooked Joe Biden’s Witch Hunts against me.”

“Today’s ruling by the court is a victory for former President Trump and all future presidents, and another defeat for President Biden’s weaponized Department of Justice and Jack Smith,” House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said. “This decision is based on the obviously unique power and position of the presidency and comports with the Constitution and common sense.”

Jill Biden’s Vogue cover: Tone-deaf and disturbing thumbnail

Jill Biden’s Vogue cover: Tone-deaf and disturbing

First lady Jill Biden’s appearance on the cover of Monday’s Vogue magazine would be darkly humorous if it weren’t so disturbing and condescending.

It was just last Thursday night that her husband, President Joe Biden, gave a frightening performance at the presidential debate against former President Donald Trump. Joe constantly mumbled and coughed, looked scared to be onstage, and lied in almost every answer.

That’s not to mention that Jill Biden had to help him walk offstage at the end of the night. At an Atlanta hotel just moments later, she spoke to her husband the way a mother would to her child, congratulating him for “doing such a great job” while Joe Biden smiled vaguely.

These alarming moments circulated on social media and in the news, with many pundits opining that it was Jill, not Joe, who so badly wants “four more years.” Her tone-deaf appearance on the cover of Vogue confirms these speculations, but it’s the contents of the in-depth article that prove just how out of touch with reality she and her avid supporters really are.

The piece is, of course, highly complementary and seeks to showcase a version of Jill Biden who’s selfless, motivated by a desire to help others, and down-to-earth.

She loves Gabriela Hearst dresses and “has ‘em in every color.” Anthony Bernal, a senior adviser to the first lady, somehow claimed that “at her core, she’s a private person.” Right, because posing for the cover of Vogue represents a need for privacy. She goes to the grocery store in Wilmington, Delaware, apparently, so she knows that food prices are rising. “I raised three kids, and did the food shopping for how many years before we got to this job? It’s not like I don’t know.”

That job she has now, however, involves living in the White House, supporting her husband in his role as commander in chief, and enjoying Secret Service protection as she travels around the country extolling the grand virtues of the Democratic Party. The first sentence of the piece said the quiet part out loud: “If you want to know what power feels like, try to get yourself driven around in a motorcade.”

Jill Biden’s snarky narcissism is on full display when pressed by author Maya Singer about the accomplishments of Joe Biden’s administration. “It’s the first and only time I see her temper spark,” Singer wrote.

Jill Biden’s response lists the American Rescue Plan of 2021, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law as evidence of her husband’s success. “If people knew what Joe’s done,” she thinks, then maybe he wouldn’t have liberal pundits calling for him to relinquish the nomination to another candidate.

It’s the public’s fault, of course, that Joe Biden has a terrible approval rating. The people just “don’t know,” according to the first lady.

What the public knows that she doesn’t is how blatant a desire she has for power and political validation. Her lack of self-awareness is astonishing, but far worse is how far she will go to prove that her husband “is the only person for the job.” Accusations of elder abuse aside, her continual push for Joe Biden’s reelection threatens both the health of the nation but also that of her husband. Thursday was a dark day for the entire country, but it was Jill, not Joe, who was the true harbinger of such horror.

Singer’s piece ends, comically and predictably, with an indirect jab at Trump.

Referencing the role of a public servant, she wrote: “Negotiate, reconsider your assumptions, and sometimes, agree to disagree, agree to lose. Only a tyrant would say otherwise.”

Truer words have never been spoken.

If Biden should drop out, why shouldn’t he resign? thumbnail

If Biden should drop out, why shouldn’t he resign?

The private and public calls by Democratic politicians and liberal media pundits for President Joe Biden to drop out of the race lead to an obvious question: If Biden should drop out of the race, why should he not also resign from the presidency?

Along with the private panicking by Democratic politicians and operatives who want Biden to step aside, several in the media are publicly calling for the same. That includes the New York Times editorial board, which said Biden is clearly “not the man he was four years ago” and he struggled to do everything during the debate, including “more than once, he struggled to make it to the end of a sentence.”

The editorial boards for the Chicago Tribune and Atlanta Journal-Constitution, two more liberal outlets, also called on Biden to drop out. Several writers at the New York Times and the Atlantic also joined in, as did MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, one of the biggest Biden shills in the media and the host of Biden’s favorite political show. Their reasonings are all fairly similar: Biden is too old, looks too old, and was unable to effectively debate former President Donald Trump and show voters that he has a full grasp of his mental faculties.

Again, the obvious follow-up question is why Biden should even remain in office for the next seven months if he stumbles to make it to the end of sentences and is too old to win a debate against someone such as Trump. Shortly after the debate, it was reported that, according to former and current aides, Biden is engaged from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., but he becomes fatigued outside of that time frame. This is the same man who already spends 40% of his presidency on vacation, and now we are told that he can only function for six hours on the few days he decides to focus on his job.

The presidency is not a 9-5 (or, in Biden’s case, a 10-4) job. Threats to America do not care about what time frame the feeble president is at his best. As John Hasson pointed out in a social media thread, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and Hamas’s assault on Israel both occurred outside of Biden’s competency time window. So did the killings of 13 U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan during Biden’s botched withdrawal and the killings of three U.S. soldiers in Jordan.

You know, the same soldiers Biden pretended never existed during the debate when he claimed no U.S. soldiers had died under his presidency?

If Biden isn’t competent enough to make it through a 90-minute debate or to function at 5 p.m., he isn’t competent enough to continue to serve as president for the next seven months. For the sake of the country, Biden should resign because, no matter how awful Vice President Kamala Harris is, she is actually lucid during normal working hours.

BREAKING: Biden Appears to Have Made a Decision About 2024 Election After Heart-to-Heart With Hunter

The New Atlantis

The New York Times is reporting that President Biden intends to stay in the presidential race after discussing his political future with his family at Camp David on Sunday.

Biden huddled with his wife, children and grandchildren at Camp David on Sunday as he attempted to plot a course of action after a catastrophic debate performance on Thursday evening. “While his relatives are acutely aware of how poorly he did against former President Donald J. Trump, they argued that he could still show the country that he is capable of serving for another four years,” the New York Times reported.

The president is also reportedly soliciting ideas from advisors about how to proceed, while his staff has been suggesting whether he should sit for interviews or hold a press conference in order to shift the narrative.

(ALERT: Biden’s New Executive Order Will Crush The US Dollar For Good)

In response to reports that Democrat donors, strategists and elected officials have been discussing the possibility of replacing Biden, the president’s aides have been “burning phone lines over the weekend” to prevent key allies from abandoning him.

One of the strongest voices urging President Biden to stay in the race was his son Hunter Biden, a source familiar with the meeting said. “Hunter Biden wants Americans to see the version of his father that he knows — scrappy and in command of the facts — rather than the stumbling, aging president Americans saw on Thursday night,” the New York Times reported.

Other family members also attempted to encourage the president and offered ways in which they could be helpful. At least one of Biden’s grandchildren has expressed interest in getting more involved with the campaign by talking with social media influencers.

The issue of President Biden continuing his campaign has ignited a feud within the Democrat Party. John Morgan, a top Democratic donor, publicly blamed a number of the president’s advisers for Thursday nights performance. Morgan named Ron Klain, Anita Dunn and Bob Bauer.

“Biden has for too long been fooled by the value of Anita Dunn and her husband,” Mr. Morgan wrote in an X post. “They need to go … TODAY. The grifting is gross. It was political malpractice.”

Morgan reiterated his point in a follow-up interview. “It would be like if you took a prizefighter who was going to have a title fight and put him in a sauna for 15 hours then said, ‘Go fight,’” he said. “I believe that the debate is solely on Ron Klain, Bob Bauer and Anita Dunn.”

Members of Biden’s family are also reportedly blaming Biden’s advisers, including Dunn, and her husband Bob Bauer, who played the role of former President Trump in debate rehearsals.

President Biden himself does not appear to be blaming Klein, Bauer and Dunn for the performance, however, as the source told the New York Times that the president is maintaining confidence in them. One member of Biden’s inner-circle stated that “no one was happy with how the debate turned out and that it was human nature to look for someone to blame.”

Klain did not comment on the discussion surrounding debate preparations, though he did express confidence that Biden will be staying in the race. “He is the choice of the Democratic voters,” Klain told the New York Times. “We are seeing record levels of support from grass-roots donors. We had a bad debate night. But you win campaigns by fighting — not quitting — in the face of adversity.”

Stunning Post-Debate Poll Provides Catastrophic Results For Biden Campaign

The New Atlantis

A staggering 72 percent of registered voters do not believe that President Biden has the “mental and cognitive health necessary to serve as president,” a new CBS News/YouGov poll found.

The shocking result represents an eight-point shift after the debate, as 65 percent of respondents said Biden does not have the cognitive ability to serve as president on June 9.

(VOTE NOW: Did TRUMP or BIDEN Win The First Debate?)

Former President Donald performed much better, as 50 percent of the electorate believes he has the cognitive ability to serve.

CBS noted that while the final results widely fell along partisan lines, the latest poll found double-digit movement among Democrats, as well as movement among independents.

When asked whether President Biden should continue his presidential bid, the results were staggering once again. Just 28 percent of respondents said Biden should keep going, down from 37 percent in February.

Nearly half of registered Democrats believe that Biden should step aside, with just 54 percent saying he should continue his re-election bid. This represents a ten-point shift from February.

Most voters who say Biden should not continue his campaign have referenced his advanced age, ability to campaign and his effectiveness in office.

The poll comes after multiple outlets have reported that Democrat donors, strategists and elected officials have been mulling the possibility of replacing the president. Biden is meeting with his family at Camp David on Sunday in order to discuss his political future, according to a report from NBC News.

Despite growing panic, Biden has publicly vowed to stay in the race. “I would not be running again if I didn’t believe with all my heart and soul I can  do this job,” the president told supporters in North Carolina on Friday.

Democrat Party insiders told NBC News that if Biden does indeed step down, it may not happen until he is formally nominated at the Democratic National Convention in August. This would give party leaders better control over selecting a replacement.

A high school girls’ track coach is furious after his team lost a tournament to a team with a. transgender-identifying male student

Dean Vergillo, the coach of the Cedarcrest High School girls track & field team, came forward after one of his athletes lost the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) state track and field meet to trans athlete Veronica Garcia in May.

“As a cross country and track coach, everybody has a running style,” Vergillo said during an appearance at the Independent Women’s Forum. “It’s kind of like your fingerprint — everybody runs a little bit differently. In this case, it was obviously a male running.”

(ALERT: Biden’s New Executive Order Will Crush The US Dollar For Good)

Vergillo added that one his girls ended up setting a school record but still lost to the male athlete. In addition, coach Vergillo and his team had no clue they were going to be having a trans athlete until the very last minute.

“As a coach, I found out about it just through talking to other coaches from around the state,” Vergillo explained. “Then, in the [girls’] 400-meter open race, the individual from our school that qualified only found out about an hour before.”

The coach also took aim at state education officials for allowing the event to take place.

“It’s definitely going to be a bigger issue given that we’ll know what’s happening going into it. My biggest disappointment in this situation is how our state association [the WIAA] didn’t prepare us for what was coming,” he said. “We’ve had many coaches, through text, emails, or just verbally, state their displeasure with the situation.”

While a number of states have banned transgender-identifying athletes from competing in sports with the opposite gender, Washington has done the opposite. Students are allowed to participate in sports for whichever “gender identity” they choose, all without medical requirements placed on the athletes.

The trans athlete, Veronica Garcia, recently complained about boos he was receiving at events. “I guess maybe I expected sportsmanship because I was cheering the rest of them on when they were called. So, I guess I expected to get that reciprocated. But I didn’t get that,” Gacria said in an interview with the Spokesman-Review.

Tuberville Says Biden’s Debate Catastrophe Is Proof That ‘The Deep State’ Is Running The Country thumbnail

Tuberville Says Biden’s Debate Catastrophe Is Proof That ‘The Deep State’ Is Running The Country

The New Atlantis

In the aftermath of President Biden’s catastrophic debate performance on Thursday, Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) believes the key takeaway is that President Biden is not running the country.

“You never knew how bad it was going to be, but it couldn’t have been worse for Joe Biden,” Tuberville said during a radio interview with Mobile, AL radio’s FM Talk 106.5.

“But, you know, the big loser last night, Jeff, was the American people. American people have finally found out what’s been going on for the last three-and-a-half, four years. Somebody behind the scenes like the Obamas, the Clintons, Schumer and Pelosi, they’re running our country and Joe Biden has been a puppet president,” the senator continued. “He’s the same as he’s been. He’s gotten a little bit worse, but it was a disaster.”

Trump Sounds The Alarm On The US Currency – PREPARE NOW)

“President Trump did a good job of pretty much using facial expressions and staying out of the way,” Tuberville added. “The rules kind of helped him in terms of not being able to interrupt. But it’s a sad state of affairs. I don’t know what direction the Democrats will go right now, but they’re in panic mode, and the American people just need to understand the deep state is running this country. And they’re going to continue to do it if the Democratic Party and the RINOs of this country keep electing them.”

In the days following the debate, several outlets have reported that there is growing dissatisfaction with Biden’s leadership within the Democrat Party. The president has received support from the leading candidates to replace him, however, including California Governor Gavin Newsom and Vice President Harris.

NBC News is reporting that Biden is set to meet with family at Camp David on Sunday in order to discuss his political future. If Biden were to drop out, one source told the outlet that DNC leaders would have far more influence over a potential replacement if the president bows out after receiving the nomination.

REPORT: Biden Meets With Family In Order To Determine Political Future

The New Atlantis

After a disastrous debate performance on Thursday, President Biden and his family are holding an informal meeting at Camp David on Sunday in order to discuss the future of his campaign, according to a report from NBC News.

In the hours and days following the debate, high-profile Democrat leaders and potential Biden successors have affirmed their support for the president. This includes California Governor Gavin Newsom and Vice President Kamala Harris, both of whom rejected the notion that Biden should step down. Former President Barack Obama also affirmed his support for Biden and expressed confidence in his ability to bounce back.

Still, a number of Democrats have been panicked over Biden’s ability to win re-election or even govern effectively. Both CNN and MSNBC reported that Democrat strategists, donors and elected officials immediately started holding meetings over Biden’s future as soon as the debate began.

(VOTE NOW: Did TRUMP or BIDEN Win The First Debate?)

One House Democrat who believes Biden should drop out of the race — but has yet to call for that publicly — told NBC News that three additional lawmakers expressed the same sentiment to him during votes on the House floor Friday.

While Biden has received support from leading House Democrats, party leaders have also conceded that the president will need to take time in order to determine his next steps. “The decision-makers are two people — it’s the president and his wife,” one source told NBC. “Anyone who doesn’t understand how deeply personal and familial this decision will be isn’t knowledgeable about the situation.”

Biden insisted Friday that he intends to stay in the race. “I would not be running again if I didn’t believe with all my heart and soul I can  do this job,” the president told supporters in North Carolina.

If President Biden were to step down, DNC insiders would have a better chance at choosing a replacement if the president were to step down after receiving the nomination in August. “We need to have as much discipline as emotion,” one senior Democratic official said. “It’s not politically smart for Biden to step down.”

Steve Bannon reaches deadline to report to prison for contempt of Congress thumbnail

Steve Bannon reaches deadline to report to prison for contempt of Congress

Steve Bannon, a longtime ally of former President Trump, is scheduled to report to a federal prison in Connecticut on Monday to serve a four-month sentence for contempt for defying a subpoena in the congressional investigation into the U.S. Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.

U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols in Washington had allowed Bannon to stay free for nearly two years while he appealed, but he later revoked his bail and ordered him to report to prison by July 1 after an appeals court panel upheld his contempt of Congress convictions. The Supreme Court rejected his last-minute appeal to stave off his sentence.

In an emergency motion filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia last month, Bannon’s new lawyer, R. Trent McCotter, accused the government of seeking “to imprison Mr. Bannon for the four-month period leading up to the November election, when millions of Americans look to him for information on important campaign issues,” effectively barring him “from serving as a meaningful advisor in the ongoing national campaign.”

“There is also no denying the political realities here. Mr. Bannon is a high-profile political commentator and campaign strategist. He was prosecuted by an administration whose policies are a frequent target of Mr. Bannon’s public statements,” the motion said.

TRUMP ALLY STEVE BANNON FILES EMERGENCY MOTION SEEKING TO STAY OUT OF PRISON

A jury found Bannon guilty of two counts of contempt of Congress: one for refusing to sit for a deposition with the Jan. 6 House Committee, and a second for refusing to provide documents related to his involvement in Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.

JUDGE ORDERS STEVE BANNON TO REPORT TO PRISON

Defense attorneys have argued the case raises issues that should be examined by the Supreme Court, including Bannon’s previous lawyer’s belief that the subpoena was invalid because Trump had asserted executive privilege. Prosecutors, though, say Bannon had left the White House years before, and Trump had never invoked executive privilege in front of the committee.

Bannon’s surrender deadline is the same day the Supreme Court will release its ruling in a case involving whether Trump is immune from prosecution for his attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

On Friday, the Supreme Court also ruled in favor of a participant in the Jan. 6 riot who challenged his conviction for a federal “obstruction” crime.

Bannon’s appeal will continue to play out, and Republican House leaders have put their support behind stepping in to assert the Jan. 6 committee was improperly created, effectively trying to deem the subpoena Bannon received to be illegitimate.

Another Trump aide, trade adviser Peter Navarro, has also been convicted of contempt of Congress. He reported to prison in March to serve his four-month sentence after the Supreme Court refused his bid to delay the sentence.

Bannon is also facing criminal charges in New York state court alleging he duped donors who gave money to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. Bannon has pleaded not guilty to money laundering, conspiracy, fraud and other charges. That trial has been postponed until at least the end of September.

Migrant charged in woman's murder rocks NY House race, as GOP incumbent accuses Dem rival of dismissing crisis thumbnail

Migrant charged in woman’s murder rocks NY House race, as GOP incumbent accuses Dem rival of dismissing crisis

Rep. Brandon Williams, R-N.Y., who is facing one of the most competitive House re-election bids in the country, has demanded an apology from Democratic challenger John Mannion for previously dismissing the “ignorance” of Republicans concerned about the migrant crisis after an illegal immigrant was charged with murdering a 21-year-old woman in his central New York district.

On Tuesday, Mannion, a state senator, won the Democratic primary to take on Williams in November.

That same day, Jhon Moises Chacaguasay-Ilbis, a 21-year-old illegal immigrant from Ecuador, allegedly murdered Joselyn Jhoana Toaquiza at an Airbnb property in Syracuse, New York. The gruesome crime, reportedly carried out on the victim’s 21st birthday, happened within the confines of Mannion’s state senate district, as well as the U.S. House district Williams was first elected to represent in 2022.

Williams, a first-term congressman, U.S. Navy veteran and tech entrepreneur who bills himself as a political outsider, reminded voters of comments Mannion made last September blasting the “ignorance” of those in Republican jurisdictions concerned about the busing of migrants into their communities from New York City.

“I demand an apology from John Mannion on behalf of the Central New York citizens that he called ignorant for being concerned that the migrant crisis would ever find its way into our communities,” Williams told Fox News Digital. “I think calling local voters ignorant is the height of arrogance. And it comes from a place of being really out of touch with, you know, with the average voter and with the community itself.”

ILLEGAL MIGRANT CHARGED WITH SUFFOCATING, KILLING YOUNG WOMAN ON HER BIRTHDAY: REPORT

“This is a common sense issue. Voters in Central New York are concerned about crime in general because of cashless bail and raise the age policies that have come out of Albany. But in this case, the southern border plays a huge role in that these illegal migrants are being moved all over the country with taxpayer money and are now in our community,” Williams said. “And sadly, a young woman would be alive today were it not for these policies…. The far left wants us to believe that they don’t matter or that they won’t reach our communities – in fact, calling Central New York voters ignorant for even having these concerns. And we have every reason to have these concerns. The evidence is all around us. This is just common sense. We have to reject the far left, extreme border policies that are making our communities less safe.”

Mannion, who publicly called the busing of migrants from the Big Apple a “policy failure,” later privately criticized those in Republican jurisdictions “fearful that buses of migrants are going to come into where they live and change their community,” according to a leaked Zoom call he held with Democratic candidates that was previously reported by Fox News Digital.

“It is just unbelievable to me, but I’m not surprised at the ignorance,” Mannion said in 2023. On the video call, he also expressed concern that the migrant crisis “will be weaponized” by Republican candidates.

Fox News Digital reached out to Mannion’s state senate office and campaign for comment on the Syracuse murder case and Williams’ criticism, but did not immediately hear back.

The Syracuse murder is not the first violent crime case involving asylum seekers seen across New York state.

NY DEM PRIVATELY BLASTS ‘IGNORANCE’ OF REPUBLICANS CONCERNED ABOUT MIGRANT BUSES IN LEAKED VIDEO

Sakir Akkan, a 21-year-old migrant from Turkey, was charged Tuesday with first-degree rape in connection to an attack on a 15-year-old girl in Albany. That same week, Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, a 25-year-old migrant from Ecuador, allegedly forced a pair of 13-year-olds into the woods near a park in Queens at knife point, tied their wrists together with shoelaces and raped one of them.

And, as Williams contended, concern over violent crime connected to the influx of migrants stretches across party lines.

Last August, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, a Democrat who previously welcomed the busing of migrants from New York City as part of a controversial resettlement program, announced that the Buffalo-area jurisdiction would stop accepting migrants from the Big Apple following a second sexual assault connected to a migrant hotel operation, sparking safety concerns in the nearby residential neighborhood.

This November, Williams said, “voters have a choice between a secure southern border or funding free health care for illegal migrants as my opponent has supported.”

“It’s a very clear choice. In central New York, voters want common sense. They want us to look out for our community, for our citizens, and to keep us safe and, frankly, to make life more affordable. And, the policies that the Republican Party have pursued,” Williams told Fox News Digital. “New York State is reeling from a Democrat supermajority in Albany, and the far-left policies that Kathy Hochul has championed and pushed through with a compliant state Senate and Assembly has wreaked havoc on New York State and even upstate, where they’ve exported the New York City values, the elitist far left values into our community.”

STEFANIK TOUTS GOP MOMENTUM IN BLUE STRONGHOLD, IMPLICATIONS FOR TRUMP IN 2024: ‘DEMOCRATS HAVE A NY PROBLEM’

Chacaguasay-Ilbis and Toaquiza had gone to primary school together in Ecuador, and the woman had also entered the U.S. illegally, reportedly fleeing an unidentified former lover in her home country, The Post-Standard reported. Chilling surveillance video showed the two entering an Airbnb property together. Three hours later, Chacaguasay-Ilbis could be seen carrying the woman’s limp body into his truck.

He allegedly had suffocated her to death and then buried her body in a shallow grave. Prosecutors said he then caught a Lyft to a nearby Greyhound station and boarded a bus bound for New York City.

Chacaguasay-Ilbis turned himself into police in Spring Valley, located in Rockland County, about 35 miles northwest of New York City. Online records show he was booked into the Onondaga County Justice Center on Wednesday on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer and murder and concealment of a corpse charges brought by the Syracuse Police Department.

Homeland Security sources told the New York Post that Toaquiza crossed the southern border illegally into Lukeville, Arizona, on June 19, 2023. She told Border Patrol that she feared returning to Ecuador because she was being threatened by a past romantic partner and was soon released into the U.S. with a later court date.

The sources reportedly said Chacaguasay-Ilbis crossed the border illegally in El Paso, Texas, in January 2023 and was released into the U.S. because there wasn’t any space to hold him.

Regarding border security, as well as foreign policy issues, Williams pointed to the primary defeat of “Squad” member Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., by challenger George Latimer, a moderate Democrat, as signaling a referendum on the leftist agendas being promoted in Congress. Several key Republican pick-ups in New York were critical to the GOP reclaiming the House majority by a razor-thin margin following the 2022 midterms.

New York is the host of half a dozen competitive House races in 2024, and House Republican Conference Chair Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., in a recent interview with Fox News Digital, touted GOP momentum in the blue stronghold state in recent years. Williams still faces an uphill battle to maintain control of New York’s 22nd congressional district, which leans Democrat, according to the Cook Political Report’s May analysis.

Williams was ranked top of the list of the 10 most vulnerable House members by Roll Call that month.

“I think it’s frightening a lot of voters, what the far left really wants to accomplish,” Williams said, noting that he is from a swing district where voters make decisions based on what they believe is best for their community regardless of party.

“And that’s about common sense. We saw that in 2022 with Lee Zeldin’s candidacy for governor. He won my district, this current configuration, by almost three points on a message of common sense and standing up against the far left. And that’s precisely what I’ve done ever since I got elected.”
